Title: The Tin Mans Heart
Post by: monsterkookies on January 08, 2009 12:54:45 PM
Tin Mans Heart

This is the second piece to my Industrial Heart collection. It is called Tin Mans Heart. A lot of people mentioned when I created my first heart that it looked like something from the Tin Man. So I saught out to make this.

It's antiqued brass coloured. It's completely anatomically correct in every sense, and on the front is a large panel missing. This gap is rather deep and is filled to the brim with gears, and has a lot of depth. In the top corner of this gap is a tiny red heart. This heart is symbolic of the fact that the Tin Man had a real heart all along, beneath the cold hard steel. The reason you see a glare in this gap in the picture is because the entire gap is going to be filled in with Glaze to give it that "heart under glass" look. It's going to look like it is covered with a glass pane. It is a lovely effect! I took the picture, also, when the glaze was still a tiny bit wet. Yes. I am impatient, sometimes.

To the side, on the back, is another gap with a few more gears. This gap is shallow, not as deep as the one in the front. Around the entire heart is a worn silver metal strap with large metal rivets.

It is made from polymer clay, and is a pendant for a necklace. I made it for Fabricated Dreams, I hope she likes it... :D

Oooh, I like this one even better, and I'm not normally a fan of warmer colored metals, like gold or brass. I like the riveted strap a lot, it's a cool little detail.
