Sure, newbies are welcomed to join!!! ;D  And, if you dont want to make an amigurumi you can put that in your questionaire and just offer to send amigurumi supplies to someone instead.  Of course, if you do make someone an amigurumi Im sure it will be appreciated by whomever gets you as a partner. ;D

I have no place to display things I receive from a swap and things I make for myself just because like it.  The top of my dresser and chest of drawers is completely covered with things I made/rec'd.  I just like to make things.  I like looking at nice/cute things.

I'm in like Flynn!!  Who ever that is... ::)

This saying is generally presumed to reference actor Errol Flynn, a huge movie star of the 1930s and 40s, remembered today primarily for his roles in big period action films (e.g., as Robin Hood, or in "The Charge of the Light Brigade") -- and as a notorious womanizer.  In 1943, Flynn was cleared of charges of...well, for the sake of our sensitive readers, let's say "illegal involvement" with an underage woman, and while there is minor speculation that the phrase had a different origin around the same time, certainly its popularity and wide usage began after this incident.

I think I'm going to be signing up for this swap -- and beckster, if you end up my partner, I may just have to make you an Errol Flynn ami (representing him in one of his famous swashbuckling roles, of course)....

Wow!  I guess you really do learn something new everyday!  So does the saying 'in like flynn' mean something....uh...dirty?  Considering he really liked the ladies?

thats what I was thinking too.  Makes me think that when someone says 'in like flynn' its a bad thing/dirty thing.  Yeah, I never what someone to say that to me now.

Generally, yes amigurumi are washable.  That is, if you use a washable yarn like acrylic and washable stuffing like polyfil.  But, it does depend on what you use to make your amigurumi.  I would advise washing them on the delicate cycle though, and drying them in the dryer because the heat of the dryer helps to keep them clean too.

Lets see, it says 8 crochet collectibles by Amy Gaines, and it appears to be published by Leisure Arts.
It does have some cute stuff in it too!
It doesn have a few animals i was hoping to be in there (bought in a hurry by looking at the cover but still very happy I got it!), but I will be on the lookout for others. Any that one can recommend?

oh yes!  my favorite one is:

Amigurumi world seriously cute crochet by ana paula rimoli.
Shes has the cutested amigurumi patterns i have ever seen!  And, her instructions in the book are so easy to understand.  I love this book!  If i could only have one book, this would be it.  ;D

I also like kyuuto! Japanese crafts amigurumi. by tomoko takamori.  real cuties to make and the instructions are super easy to understand too.  eeep!

I also have a couple japanese ones too.  which I really like, but they are written in japanese so, I have no idea what the name of the books are.  but the graphs are easy and simple, so its easy to make the amigurumis in them.

anyways, i finished my little amigurumi for my partner last night.   ;D  Hes so cute!  I think im going to make one for myself eventually.  Anyone else started an ami yet?

I'm trying to finish my stuffy swap first then I will concentrate on this. Sometimes I am in several swaps at once, so i end up going back and forth, working on them.

I know what you mena, I'm doing the craft for my person of choice swap round 2 (for my son), and I might finish it up this weekend, than I can start working on this one.. My son will be excited, He'll get 2 swap packages soon, he loves to get mail. ;D

Thank you! I will have to see about finding some of those books- especially Amigurumi World :)  Easy to understand is a must for me as I totally stink at following instructions..usually I just have to make my own patterns as I go and then I dont know how to make a tute & it be correct, so everything is an original- lol

Is everyone having fun PMing with their partners while making their amis? I always think that is part of the fun  :)

Well I'm back from holiday and have been having a think about what to make, I have it narrowed down to two things but can't decide between them!

My partner and I have been paired off in a previous swap and I loved everything she had made me.  We have been PM'ing each other and getting to know each other a little better.  I haven't quite started but will probably start my amigurumi this week.

Umm... I've done the head  :D

But I was finishing off another swap and I sent that out today, and I've been dithering for about a week because I couldn't decide between two possible things to make.  Anyway I've made up my mind now and have got started.  I'm hoping to send out next weekend

I finished my amigurumi tonight.  As part of it, I tried a craft I hadn't tried before and it turned out really well, so now I have a million ideas for other stuff to make!  But I can't say any more in case I give it away.  I hope my partner likes it.

Now I just have a little extra to do (I have already decided what it is) and I'm ready to ship.

the link to the gallery is on the first page too.

I hope the Gustav isn't giving you too much trouble.  I live in the northeast.  We may get a lot of snow (but hardly had any this past winter).  I don't think I could manage to live in an area that is prone to bad flooding or hurricanes.  I know a lot of retirees move to your neck of the woods.

No Gustav ...yet, Fay's the one that flooded us. Some apartment complex was in some 6 feet of water, you could only see the tops of cars. I don't live over there though but my side of town ended up getting some of it.
:(

That's terrible.  You can only imagine what New Orleans got with Katrina.  I'm sure that there are still a lot of people without homes from that storm.  Mother Nature sometimes is very nasty.
