sooo unfortunately, my partner received both items on the 18th and I haven't heard from her nor has she been on craftster for awhile...my thinking is she's having computer problems so I'm going to go ahead and post for her :D I worked really hard on this stuff and dern it I'm proud! LOL anyhoo here it is... (https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=156305) she said she likes pirates and nijas..I picked the former and made a silly pirate who got kicked off the boat since he's lazy and doesn't do anything                                                       here is for her obsession with stuffies the mouth is a pocket! (https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=156307)   she says she loves loves loves..lime green..this is close! plus it was a steal so I had to have it and make something out of it...so a scarf for Cooby...it has her name sewn into it and quilted (https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=156306)  if she doesn't wear a necklace she twitches a little..here to save the day (https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=156311) she loves Disney so sweet little bambi  she likes bracelets so here are a few with fun charms based off her wist (https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=156310) (https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=156309) aaaaaaannnnd she quilts and sews! so I made her a tool holder with a tape measure (covered like an ice cream cone in her favorite ice cream flavor...not pictured sorry) and scissors and measuring tape (https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=156308)  annnnnd I sent her felt in another package...(forgot to put it in..doh!) she says that felt is the best ever...and a journal (she writes stories) covered in a really cool lime green and blue fabric...(no picture) and some candy(just cause) and the 108 ways to change a t-shirt book (that I had ...never used) and a t shirt to change..cause she likes to sew!  I hope she liked everything!  it was fun!  PHEW...over

WOW! Your partner was lavished with a great lot of craftiness, how lucky for her! The bracelets are A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E and the way in which you did everything she said she liked was so very thoughtful. This is what swapping is all about, nice job!

P.S. The look on your son's face peeking out from behind the tool holder is priceless!  :D

the pirate was to make her laugh! I got the pattern out of Plush-O-Rama by Linda Kopp and I would recommend this book to everyone!  It's a great book!  got the little green monster out of there too.  the pirate isn't the pattern in there ,but a guy named Bryan is ,that I turned him into a pirate! (I gave him a moosetash!)

What a nice package of goodies! Those cherry blossom earrings are like nothing I've ever seen before, great beading! And how did you ever get that turtle stamp cut so cleanly?!

Title: Re: Completely Random Swap Gallery!
Post by: serendipity_sarah on July 26, 2008 11:59:34 AM
I'm glad you like everything rira! ;D

Dawt:  I wish I could take full credit for the design of the cherry blossom earrings but, I copied them from a picture in rira's wist.

The picture makes the stamp look more tidy than it is in real life.  I drew the turtle onto the eraser then did the carving with an x-acto knife.

I received a wondrously fabulous package from GothChics yesterday.
She truly spoiled me!

Note: I got a new camera for my b-day.  I haven't figured out how to make it sing & dance yet so the pics are not my finest.  All these items looks much better in person.  Well, at least I figured out how to download them to my computer.

On with the show....

What a lovely box; I wonder what is inside...

Scrabble Coasters (I fave game of mine).  Wonder what it spells...

Ah...Wondrous...a word I use too often because I like the sound of it.

Speaking of coasters, I also received a fab crocheted set along with some crocheted & knitted cup cozies. (sorry for far off pic)

And speaking of cups, check out this wonderful cup purse (straight from my wist) that has been specially made to fit my ds and games.  So many of my random loves in one item.  ;D

a small peek inside... (https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=160620)

To continue feeding my love of purses, totes, and the such...
GothChics made me a bucket tote to hold special crochet WIPs.

another small peek inside... (https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=160622)

And a Fabulous Felted Striped Bag

Now to more wondrous items.....I adore these wondrous cards; they are beautiful and incorporate not only one of my favorite words but one of my favorite flowers, roses.  I can't believe these are GothChics first go around in making cards; you really should make more.  Next to my cards is some of the best smelling bath salts; I can't wait to relax in the tub tonight.

So I can keep cozy while outside the tub, GothChics created me a one-of-a-kind hat.  She winged the pattern, such talent!  It is so comfy on, and the pic doesn't do it justice.

And for my birthday, GothChics made me a beautiful tree pendant.  I love it!

So as you can see, I truly was spoiled.
:-* THANK YOU SO MUCH GOTHCHICS!  :-*

The box the scrabble coasters was done in is beautiful!  I love the antique/victorian/aged look lol.

big fat roses - I love all the little notes you received in with your goodies, what a cute idea - the reversible tote bag is too funny... clouds and sun, I should make one :)

Ok prepare yourselves - clovergrace REALLY outdid herself with my goodies! **Sidenote: I was SO excited when I got my box that I just ripped it all open and started opening packages and what not, then realized I should have kept it all "prettied up"till I took pics - it was beautifully wrapped and a lot of things that aren't in packages now, were at one time! :)

Here they are (lots of pics)...

All of my goodies

An array of post-it notes, note pads and cards, magnets, and my all time FAV - lil sharpie highlighters for my keyring (the yellow is missing b/c it's already on my ring!)

She made me a wonderfully bright quilted blankie and a matching reversible zippered pouch.  The pink and blue are handmade dishrags and she also threw in this copy of Alice in Wonderland!

These are so great!  Buttons with my business logo and owls!!  And an owlie Kilt Pin!

Some handmade jewelry....a button necklace, earrings and ring, an owl pendant and my FAV a fun sparkly ring from my wist!

Some scrabbletasticness - a password journal made from a scrabble board and a name plate made from scrabble letters with owls!!

An owl cutting board and cookie cutter and an owl painting that GLOWS IN THE DARK!!!

and my all time FAV....

A totally girlie apron with ruffly pockets!!

Thank you a million times clovergrace - you spoiled me and you were a fantastic partner!!

ok, so I'm officially a dork, I installed some updates and restarted the computer and now it seems ok  :-X

I got the best partner, and what I think is THE BEST SWAP PACKAGE EVER!!!!
I started with the pictures last night, but will have to finish tonight, but I'll list everything...

1. Super pretty apron, grapes on front with cute green pockets
2. 2 crocheted (?) dishclothes-1 pink and 1 blue----too cute to use as dishrags
3. black vintage purse with cutest little skull and crossbones
4. bag of whimsies (AKA bag of awesomeness)
5. 2 garden books
6. little pot, gardening gloves, packet of cosmos seeds, a roll of border made from twigs
7. cookie cutters
8. magnets, hand felted ghost and pumpkin, a resin pumpkin with embroidery border, marilyn monroe, hollywood, a cute button one, a giant plastic clothes pin one, maybe more
9. little sewing bag-foldable yard stick, pink buttons, measuring tape
10. crochete kit, intructions, yarn and hook
11. Bunch of Avon samples--daughter has taken some lipsticks already, eyeshadows, lotions, perfumes, shampoos
12. 2 wand kits and cool sticker sand art kits for the kiddos
13. 2 cute pirate themed pins
14. 2 white hand towels with black and pink ribbon trim
15. little picture frame with a resin piece (made with a flower from her yard :D
16. pins that have marilyn monroe, u2, i <3 isabella, i <3 amelia, and damara
17. Note pads, a halloween one, and Wicked Witch of the West one
18. I think my fav a "glasses pin" with a pic of Marilyn and a little qoute

I know that there is more, ( I know MORE?!?!?!?), I am serious I just kept opening and opening and opening, but I'm making this list from memory, everything came in great purple crown royal bags, and one was embroidered with "I Love Purple"---because I do, and she did a fabulous job with the embroidery.  Pictures prob tomorrow....

As you can see, um Dawt has really out done herself, and wait til you see the pictures, and I finish the list of stuff I received.  I am super nervous about her package now :-[

I'm glad you liked everything, Damara, you were so fun to craft for! You made it easy by being so detailed with your list of 50 random things and I thank you for that. (Wouldn't it be awesome if we had a list like that for every swap we do?!) I think knowing random stuff like that about a person is half the battle won as far as swap anxiety goes (still, I was a nervous wreck).

I love that you have a pink and black Marilyn Monroe bathroom, I bet it's scrumptious! And knowing you love purple (oh, how I struggled with the simple embroidery on that bag!), gardening, skulls and Halloween, and that your kitchen is grape-themed was even more fodder for inspiration. You're right, the dishrags (sorry they don't match anything) were crocheted, my first attempt at them. (I'm hoping they'll inspire YOU to learn to crochet like you've always wanted.) They're not anything special, so use 'em, silly goofer! And that eyeglass pin, well, I was inspired by another crafter, but I can't remember where exactly I saw it. That was a first, too, and I learned a lot that will help me improve the process and results.

You were the recipient of a lot of crafting-firsts for me, and I believe that's what swap challenges are all about, challenging ones self to step outside the comfort zone and try something new...and that I did! Thanks for helping me to realize just how much I've missed sewing and all, I even signed up for a vintage-like apron swap as a direct result of making one for you!

If for some reason your 'puter doesn't want to do pics, let me know and I can fill in for you, my daughters and I took lots of them before sending. I'll let you know when my package of random goodness arrives!

Well, on Monday night while bf and I were going through the bed time ritual (aka showers and watching tv in bed) I was going through the instruction and practicing the stiches, and managed to do them all.  So my plan was to practice one stitch at a time until I got it down, so last night I mastered one, and made a...well really didn't make anything...maybe a coaster for a shot glass ;), but I was excited.  So tonight if I'm not too tired, I'm gonna try another...SO AWESOME!
THANK YOU

Ok prepare yourselves - clovergrace REALLY outdid herself with my goodies!
I love the apron, too, it's so girlie! And the quilt-throw, you wouldn't believe how warm such a light-weight quilt can be until you snuggle down with it. Clovergrace really worked her heart out on all that sewing, not to mention all of the other goodies, wowie-zowie! Great job!

I got my awesome package from Krazy4Katz a few days ago, but I just now got around to taking/posting the pictures.

Such wonderful crocheting, Krazy4Katz, and that embroidered butterfly, a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e ! The photo of the horse intrigues me, what's the story behind it?

Well, on Monday night while bf and I were going through the bed time ritual (aka showers and watching tv in bed) I was going through the instruction and practicing the stiches, and managed to do them all.  So my plan was to practice one stitch at a time until I got it down, so last night I mastered one, and made a...well really didn't make anything...maybe a coaster for a shot glass ;), but I was excited.

How neat, Damara, way to go! Yeah, I think all of us who crochet made the same thing the first time we tried it, but we tried it and that's what counts! You're smart to practice the single crochet until you master it because you'll get a better idea of how to hold the hook and learn to control the tension. Just make a few pulls of the yarn to keep it loose and you'll do just fine. I can't wait for the day when you show off your first completed project! It just tickles me that you've already tried it.  ;D

I had a bit of a fumble getting out of work today (I got the alarm set on me when I was still in the building! What the heck!??!), but everything turned around when I got home to find a huge package waiting for me from kidcompassion...who spoiled me. Wow.

Much like other partners have expressed, we felt like we had a lot in common. It made it all the more exciting a swap. Goodness, where to start?

The first crafted thing I saw was the t-shirt, and I had to pull it out of the box, because Bill Murray was staring at me!:

I heart BM. I am considering violating business casual law and wearing it tomorrow to work. This picture is actually up in the career centre where I work, where I have added a cartoon bubble with him saying the words, "You can get a job." Here is a close up:

But the awesomeness doesn't stop. She sent me a Canada map bag to celebrate a trip I took last year. I don't think I mentioned my love of maps, so this is perfect. Sorry the pic is a bit blurry, but I didn't want to wash out the colours with a flash.

A Walt Whitman magnet for the angsty poet lover in me:

A needle roll - I really like the colours on this one.

Some hand-blended tea - mint from her mother's garden. I LOVE natural teas.

And if you can believe it...kidcompassion knitted me a Clapotis ala Knitty! She stalked me ravel-wise. This is very thoughtful, so comfortable, and beautiful. I am going to try to wear it every chance I get. The purple colour is perfect, and she sent me along the extra superwash merino yarn she made it out of too!

On the floor:

On the me (it is so versatile!!):

She sent a completely random item: a sprout kit. Man this is great. I am so stoked to start sprouting:

Everything together, including the book and Stevie Wonder (eeeee!) cd that she sent:

A sincere thanks to kidcompassion for the awesome swap gear. I love every bit of it. And thanks to Gothchics and rira for organizing.

Mine too...  In fact, all the packages I sent out on Monday, all of the DC's aren't showing ANY info.  They say "There is no record of this item", which is common when I ship from the post office on our base...  Makes me really nervous...   :-\

I owe photos and I didn't get the best onnes just yet but want to get some up now :)

I received earlier this week from miss Pink Leo and it's fantastic :)

A fantastic scarf with fun 'fingers' (as my son called them) to help keep me warm and suit my fun side (and it does)
A absolutely fabulous shirt featuring Xander Crews on it (I have a cartoon crush on him hehehe)  It fits perfectly
A camouflage waterbottle cozy to remind me of my hubby and keep me hydrated as I run about doing the things I do :)

two beautiful dresses with matching headbands for my beautiful new nieces.  as I am completely obsessed over the two girls :)

and two angel swadles for the girls too  I will get action shots of these very soon (hopefully tomorrow evening)

and a gratiutious photo of the precious little girls that are consuming my time.  They will look absolutely beautiful in the dresses don't you think!

She also sent me a bunch of unshrunk shrinky dinks because I absolutely love watching shrinkies shrink.  I need to get a photo but there are too many little hands around right now to get them out without risking my nephews grabbing them and running!

Thank you again pinkleo! I had an absolutely fantastic time swapping with you!

I love the scarf!!!  And the camo water bottle cozy is great (looks over at my camo yarn now...)!  I may have to make one for myself since my DH is about to head on out to the sandbox...

GothChics- I just want to squeeze your nieces!  They look so much like my DD when she was an infant  :)

OH-MY-GOOD-NESS! What sweetie-pie twin goodness, so a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e ! As a mom of twins, your nieces sure take me back...oh...almost 25 years now! Enjoy those babies while they're, well, babies cause they sure do grow quickly. Thanks for sharing them with us!

And your goodies, man! More crocheted goodness, I can hardly stand it! What a thoughtful partner to make such pretties for the pretties. Right on!

 :D

I hear tell eating a lot of yams may help yield twins. Somewhere in Africa there's a high incidence of twinning and Yams are a staple in their diet. There's something to that cause I got pregnant with mine in the month of November...love those Thanksgiving sweet 'taters!  ;D

I made my daughters Easter dresses when they were about 3 years old, but after doing everything twice I swore off sewing for a while. I'm an amateur seamstress and putting in sleeves, collars, and ties was quite the challenge for me.

Me, too!  :D

It's my turn to show off my partner's stuff!

It's obvious by my avatar that I love anything to do with "The Wizard of Oz" movie, and my partner ran with it, yay!

All the loot:

Some lovely red beadwork and a sparkly red slipper (one of my favorite things!):

Ozzy stickers, magnets, gift tags and scrapbooking fodder (made from stickers, great idea!):

A ruby red slipper candle...yet another clever idea!:

Note cards, which has got to be one the best things, ever! They're so very lovely:

A book mark (or as my daughter calls it, book thong); a strip of red ribbon with beading and sparkly stars, which will definitely get a workout. Also 2 magnets that hold photos, never seen anything like it, love 'em:

Here's a shot of the back to give you a better idea of how they're made along with a shot of me opening the tops to show where the photos are inserted (I really don't have fat fingers!):

A darling bundtcake-shaped soap, pocket memo pad, and my favorite pieces of all, a blue gingham bag with matching wallet and tissue holder, gah!

Front of bag:

Back of bag:

A close-up of the tissue holder and little wallet, which arrived filled with Oz stickers, yay!:

I was spoiled rotten by you Damara, thanks SO VERY MUCH! I can't wait to show all of my Ozzy goodness to my Everything Oz Club, they'll be so jealous! You rock, girlie, and I thank you for your thoughtfulness in making this so spot-on with my love of Oz!

(BTW, Damara asked me to post photos of what I sent to her as well, so I'll work on that and get them up as soon as I have time.)

I got the best package today! JustCheeky is THE best swap partner ever!

Opening the package...(That's my dog, Clover Grace, helping out)

Clover Fabric! And I love the lady bugs with them, too! The cutest clover fabric I own to date.

Everything I pulled out, with pressies still wrapped up!

Note papers and POSTIES! A random fact was I love post it notes.

Stamps! These are so cute! I love the pawprint and how big the four leaf clover stamp is! And the stamp on the ink pad is a lady bug crawling up the stem of a four leaf clover that she bought off of etsy just for me! (Jealous yet?)

One of the random facts I gave her was I collect belt buckles. And she sent this coolest belt buckle!

JustCheeky asked me what was something I've been wanting to make myself and I never get around to doing. I said an eye mask because I get migraines often and have to lie down and it makes me light sensitive. She even made the strap a little loose because of that! My package actually came while I was napping in the middle of the day, so I know this will be used quite often!

This is made from something I had wisted. Turns out, the one I wisted had been made by one of JustCheeky's friend's that she didn't know was on craftster! So she graciously told her how she made hers. This is JustCheeky's first attempt at a stuffie and she did a fantastic job!

Last but not least, she made this adorable pouch for my ipod! She even made a mock ipod to be sure mine would fit! I love the polka dots! (You can't tell, but my ipod is in it in this photo.)

Obligatory ipod-in-pouch photo (and my earphones fit in it too!)

She was really the best partner ever! I haven't even put anything where it belongs yet because I keep going back and looking at all my goodies! Thank you so much, Jen! (Special thanks to my twin, Titancia, for resizing, cropping, and adding fun little bubbles--which surprised me too!)
Val

Kungfugirlfriend is dealing with a fam emergency so it'll be a couple of days till she can post pics. i don't have pics of everything I sent but I have some the stuff and I can tell you the rest.

She said her and her newlywed husband use to go camping a lot before his new job so i made a camping in can kit. It had everything to make smores inside along with some tea and this

A glass etched votive holder with a pic of fire
when the fire is aimed at the wall you get this effect

A mini cupcake for her Blythe doll (it's sitting on a quarter

A big cupcake for her from her wists

I sent a bracelet like this with the quote "it's only forever not long at all" from one of her fav movies the last unicorn

I Sent some resin pendants of her and the new DH and her Blythe dolls

I also sent 2 glasses one that said Mr. Gross going down it and the other obviously said Mrs.Gross going down it in honor of getting married but forgot to take pics of it, some post it and various pens because she said she liked to leave random notes for the DH around the house and a little container of some random buttons because she likes buttons. I think that is everything. lol I can't wait to see the pics for Kungfu.

Everything is wonderful, Hollistercobabe, but that bracelet rocks and you are the queen of resin! I can't figure out how you got the letters in there so perfectly, you da man! the smores idea was totally and ridiculously AWESOME! What a fun idea, and the flame, well, I bet it blows her away the first time she lights up that puppy. You have a great imagination!

thanks  it took me forever to think of the fire idea and then when i was etching the glasses it hit me, i was just glad it turned out ok. lol oh i forgot i also sent forest noise cds to simulate being in the woods when she's "camping" and the resin is actually transparency paper lol

Okay, so I flubbed up and did a ditzy blonde sort of thing, apologies to my partner, Damara. She saw the photos I posted which prompted her to ask about a Wizard of Oz tin she sent me. I write back and ask what tin, and then it hits me, maybe I should double check the box cause it's flat and maybe I missed it. Yes indeedy I did! I went out to the recycle bin and there it was, all cold outside in that box just waiting for me to find it!

It's huge! 15-1/2" x 10-1/2"...how the hell did I miss THAT?!

Isn't it fabulous?! And I don't have that one! You don't know how difficult it is to buy anything Oz for me that I don't already have, so RIGHT-ON, RIGHT-ON, DAMARA!

Another mystery was solved when she asked me about the beaded items, the grouping with that wonderful ruby red slipper (which I just may have to turn into a pin because the beading is so intricate) and the other two pieces. It was hilarious, I didn't want to ask what they were for fear of hurting her feelings and she almost didn't mention them, but she put so much work into them. Turns out she beaded my user name 'dawt,' but I only found the D and the A. I tore through that tissue paper over and over again but to no avail, no W or T was found. When it's light outside I'll re-check the recycle bin and hope for the best.

Thank you for putting up with this air-head, Damara...I'm so embarrassed I can hardly stand it!

I love the fire votive.. and the resin stuff.  very nicely done.

Meh, craftster requires a certain amount of .... lets just call it "Duh".  I'm glad she mentioned the tin so you found it!  I can't tell you how many times I've posted a comment about the color swap in the random swap thread and visa versa... us crafty people have better things to think about than the practical lol.

I received from PatriaE today!  It was so exciting!!

First, I got 3 reusable shopping bags.  Clara must be psychic, because I always need more of them!  I walk to the grocery store, and many of my bags are getting worn out.  And to make it even better, it says "I love math," "math is fun," and "(mathy symbols)" on them!  Now they can't be stolen!  My favorite is the "I love math," as that's my Ravelry name :)

Next, I got an apron!  I love aprons, but can never justify buying one, and it's in blue, one of my favorite colors!  Even better, it fits around my neck without me having to make an extra knot! Yippee!

A gummi bear shirt!  It fits!  It's adorable!  I'm wearing it a we speak!  It's soft! It's purple!  I love purple! Exclamation point!

And a freakin amazing pillow!  It has these awesome ties so I can read a book WHILE KNITTING!  I used it today, and now I can super-multitask!  And of course, green is another favorite color :)

Action shot!

Clara, you rock my socks.  I can't even pick a favorite among these things because they all rock!!! Thank you so much!

bluesmom: PatriaE really did it up fine! Bags, a top, an apron AND that pillow, it really IS awesome, so much so I just wisted it!

Lots-o-spoiling goin' on all around us, doncha just love it?!

I hear ya! My partner and I are so silly, we keep talking about posting pics of what she received (she posted an extensive list already), but neither one of us has done it yet. I posted what she sent and I have the pics ready to go of what she received, but I didn't get shots of everything and some of the images just aren't that great and was hoping hers came out better than mine. Conundrum: if I post what I have then there's no need for her to post 'em, then again, she's having computer issues so maybe I should go ahead and take the initiative. BUT (and this may sound self-serving but it's not how I mean it), as a sender I do enjoy reading/seeing my partners' take on the things I send. It's neat to find out the favorites and see what worked and what didn't, which can help with the next swap I sign up for.

Oh, what to do, what to do?  ???  I'll do whatever you suggest, Damara.  ;)

Everyone's packages are looking great! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's hard work... And receiving mine!

And the gummi bear shirt! So squidgy!

I'd better go and eat something, the hypoglycaemia is making me use too many exclamation marks...  ;)

first, everything was wrapped up with these super cute bloom elastics:

there was a great book on organizing (which i need!) and a bundle of stickers:

an amazing purse made with pink cordoroy (my favorite!) with the cutest little bluebird!

action shot! (in my bathroom, which is weird, but it's the only mirror in my house!)

and all my stuff in the purse!

then there were these killer retro magnets made of ads from an old magazine! (my favorite one is the "crisco: it's digestible!" one)

and finally this AMAZING journal! this was like the first time edud ever made one and i can't believe it because it's so awesome!!

thank you so much for everything edud and thanks to gothchics for organizing!!

you girls....I am NOT kidding..her crocheting skills are phenomenal!!!  I kid you not!!!  that toast bag is by far the most incredible piece of love....."mine..mine..mine..mine..."

Sorry it took me so long to respond, the whole not having a computer thing is killing me. I put a lot of work into your stuff and I am super glad that is has made you happy. That's my goal! I just wish my computer would stop DYING so I could appreciate this experience even more. This swapping experience was and is amazing, I seriously hope there is a round two. Thank you Sunflower Smiles for making me feel so....amazing and....uggg no words for it. It's just the most fulfilled I can be, making people happy with my crafting. Life goal, or something.
Once again, thank you for everything, everybody and again I'm really really sorry about the whole 'silent treatment' thing. No computer=death. hahaha.

Hookay, guess I'll go ahead and post what I sent to my partner, Damara (she has computer issues, so hopefully this is okay with her). Although I didn't get a shot of everything I sent, there's still a ton of pics here, hope you don't mind.

Everything all wrapped up in purple (her favorite color) cloth Crown Royal bags:

Crocheted dish rags, Halloween-type stuff (she likes this holiday), cookie cutters (she likes to bake with her daughter) and pirate-y skull pens. I rolled up the dish rags & put them in one of the apron pockets, the cookie cutters were tucked inside the other one:

She likes to garden so I included a few related items. The heart tin is filled with pearly-spikey bead thingies (not sure if it made it into the package). The candle was pre-made, but I decorated it by inserting colored metal grommets into the sides and then painting it with melted wax to seal it:

Make-up was on her list as well, so I threw in a little pouch from a spa in Carmel (Calif.) and put some Avon samples in it:

Pink frilly pouch with a variety of things such as tape measure, crochet hook, vintage buttons:

Apron, vintage purse with pink skull, hand towels, crochet instructions (she wants to learn to crochet), I love purple embroidered bag, tie bookmark (she said she can never find one when she needs it), felted & resin magnets, framed pressed flower in resin. The tie book mark was something I came up with using cardboard inserts I saved from the boxes of Lipton Tea...it just happened to fit inside the smaller end of a tie. I cut the tie down to a more manageable size and re-tied it. It has an Italian food theme because she said she loves to eat at the Olive Garden:

Close-up of framed pressed flower (from my front yard) in resin:

A close-up of my feeble attempt at embroidery:

Close-up of vintage purse and my skull creation:

Close-up of hand towels for her pink and black Marylin Monroe bathroom; I weaved/sewed the ribbon at the ends and tied bows:

The ghost magnet was my second attempt at felting; the pressed flower from my front yard put into resin was one of my first attempts at resin, the pumpkin magnet was a result of my second go at it (it didn't turn out as planned but I sent it anyway:

Closer look at the apron; her kitchen is grape-themed so I made the apron with grapes on the front. The back is lined w/the same print as the pockets (green w/tiny black flowers), which have vintage buttons sewn on them. I'm quite proud of this because not only was I out of practice sewing, but it was made with NO pattern! I used a favorite apron of mine and one of my daughters walked me through it but didn't help with anything. It gave me confidence enough to join the apron swap I'm working on right now!

And no package is complete without a bunch of whimsies!

a mr.darcy pic in a beautiful frame (i have a crush on him), a tracy turnblad hand drawn, and some 'artist trading cards' - very cute and funky drawings on trading card sized paper. Very nice.

some nail polish (I have red polish on my toes 365 day a year) and two very random items. A keychain he found at work that no one claimed and some very cute small spoons.

Today I discovered why everyone always posts swap gifts. narhloki and I decided to swap physically by me swapping my gift for hers on her front porch. OMG. Talk about performance anxiety! All I saw was a bag, an awesome bag and it made me want to speed back home and remake things.

This bag is completely fantastic

Inside there were so many wrapped packages! I was very good and waiting til I was home, out of the rain and comfy before diving in to find....

A beaded wrist cuff
2 pairs of earrings

a necklace made from bits of a dvd remote - I'm going to feel so cyberpunk!

Some paper dolls! One is from Project Runway to test out my clothes making in class in minature. The others are from my fav webcomic Questionable Content! I even have clothes to print out and colour!

At the end of my 50 things I couldn't think of anything to write so I wrote "I hate peas" thinking of that scene from 10 Things I Hate About you. But narhloki was right, I cannot hate squishy peas with cute faces!! My new pincushion will be the envy of my sewing class. The others have already been tested in their boyfriend waking up abilities.

This swap completely rocked. Hats off and much applause to our lovely organisers!!! And thankyou to my partner for sending me pictures of everything as my only camera is my phone and would NOT have done this stuff justice!!

Ok I must be extra blonde today as I looked 3 times before I found this thread!! LOL too much excitement over the parcels I think.

Moonshae and I did an 'in person swap' ... except that I must have spaced and missed the doorbell so well she swapped her bags of goodies with my bag of goodies by my front door. So I missed her :( ah well.

So to my parcel.

Here's the first thing I pulled out!

I put it on and have not taken it off ... and I doubt it's coming off any time soon, it's so soft and warm and red. Moonshae added a black fringe because she's appaulled I don't wear black ... I think this pic of me wearing a red scarf purple shirt and pink wrap may well terrify her ... rightly so some of you might say!! Yes I'm in my clashy colours phase!

(oops didn't brush my hair!)

The second thing to tumble out of the bag was this patch Moonshae made for me:

I scanned it because I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to read it the way my camera goes :)
It says 'in case of Zombie Outbreak follow me' I'll probably be the one with an axe and crowbar with the wild look in my eyes. I feel if you are prepared for a Zombie Outbreak you are prepared for everything. Fires, floods pfft, Zombies, that's the thing to worry about ;)

Ok third ... I think the pics speak for themselves. Clearly this little purple dragon isn't loved and there wasn't much squeeing and running round with the camera....

<cough>

So the next one puzzled me a moment. Jelly:

I'm vegetarian and don't eat Jelly because of the gelatine ... though I love it. But I have a joke about hosting a jelly war ... best not to explain it publically, you might think I'm insane

<whistles to self>

ED Quick note Moonshae PMd me and said this jelly doesn't have gelatine ... it's soo getting eatten!!!

ok and the biggest and fighting with the dragon for best!!

A CASTLE!!

LOL made with supper soft fabric this quilt is adorable! I love it!

This has been an awesome swap!!! Thanks Moonshae!

I got a wonderful parcel from Titancia over a week ago. She has been very patiently waiting for me to  post pictures. Everything was wrapped up beautifully with ribbons  and charms and has little notes giving clues attached to the parcels. I put everything on the bed and gloated for a few minutes. She put so much thought into everything she made and bought. We had lots of fun emailing each other during this swap - we have so much in common -it's amazing for a random swap.

Neither of us is a natural seamstress so I know the work that went into the two book covers that she made me. I never had bookcovers before so I didn't realise how handy they are - especially for reading in the bath. Apologies for the sideways pic. There was also  a novel "I Capture the Castle" which i have finished already.

I got lots of goodies - badges, pins that say "vote" ( I have a mild politics obsession, sour sweets and gum(in the crown royal bag), tattoos, useful magnetic lists ( I love making lists), a stamping thing, 3 lovely bookamarks(in constant use since I got them(I love reading and have a fine bookmark collection). I also got sharpies(can't get them here) and tissues with my initial and a little rose charm.

Here are the earrings - not a great picture.

I collect gem stone eggs and I got these wonderful eggs. Don't they look real? I put them in egg cups straight away:D

Titancia made me jewellery (we are both jewellery addicts. I make and sometimes sell jewellery but I love getting it in swaps, just love it.)
Here you can see the four(!) necklaces I got and the pin. Also in the photo is the pouch I got for my lip glosses/balm because I have loads but can never find one when I need one. And you can also see the password journal I got. I saw that Titancia's sister CloverGrace made one for her swap partner and I was hoping to get one too.

This is a close-up of the beautiful resin pendants. I put on my list that I love mermaids and the sea. The mermaid one has gotten a lot of wear.

This is another necklace that has gotten a lot of wear. It has my favourite colour blue in it and fits the neckline of many of my tops beautifully. You can also see the pin here too. It is so sparkly. I love dragons. I wore it to a meeting last week with a pair of the earrings and felt grand.

I got seven pairs of earrings - one for every day of the week which made me happy. She wrote a poem to explain each earring. Some of my favourites are not here - 2 pairs with roses on them - I love roses. Also not shown(they are on my bag are three cool badges she made me - a Jane Austen one (a mutual interest), a Victorian one (another mutual interest) and a number 5 one (our favourite number!).

Thanks again titancia. This was a great swap. Hope you like what I made you half as much

Thanks to my  husband for helping me with the pictures - my excuse is I have a new computer;p

Everything looks great. I have been enjoying my goodies on a daily basis. I like those little zombies, even though I am sort of scared of zombies...

and the gorgeous purse that my husband thinks I already have this fabric, no, but I do have similar paper  :D

TAOJ - when I saw the fabric I thought it looked like the one you used to make my needle roll and project bag from the random swap last year. It looks very similar.

I got mine!  My poor swap partner; her package got lost but after I raised a ruckus at the P.O., they found it!  So here is all my awesome stuff:

https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=165522&ppuser=53317

Beautiful pirate journal with a skull on the front (kind of hard to see) and matching bookmark.  This is my new favorite thing!

https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=165523&ppuser=53317

Two pairs of earrings, exactly my style, and a magnet of a taxidermy mouse on toast.  You have to know me to get it.

https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=165524&ppuser=53317

Funny skull pin and huge set of marble tacks for my inspiration board!

I am so excited about my stuff and so glad it arrived (whew!).

How I've managed to keep track of that is anyone's guess.  ;D

My humble apologies for missing that, GothChics, and thank you for the positive feedback! I appreciate all of yours and Rira's efforts in organizing such a fun swap. It sure kept us busy and I learned a lot about my new friend as well as myself, especially in the crafting department. It's given me the incentive to join more swaps and try new things I wouldn't normally think to do.

It's kinda sad to see the end of a swap, isn't it? One gets used to the 'crowd,' sort of like when a party breaks up...you're pooped from all the dancin' (craftin') and are ready to go home but don't really want to leave.

Thanks again, it's been way too much fun!

Oh, my goodness!! Have I been spoiled!! I ended up with the BEST swap partner on the planet! Truly! Saor was amazing, and I had a great time emailing back and forth with her.

First off... Look at that view!! I am just spoiled rotten, and not afraid to admit it! Look at the awesome tote bag!

A close up of the tote bag embroidery. This is so awesome! And so getting used. Last time I ran into the grocery store and bought one thing, I was thinking why don't I have my own bag for this? And now I do! And it's Titanic-ized! How awesome is that!?! (Plus, the flag from the logo is what my tattoo is on my back!)

These are the most beautiful pair of earrings! This fits right in with the rest of the jewelry I wear--and I will get a lot of wear out of this! In fact, everything she sent me is so amazing and so like me it's like she snuck into my bedroom and looked at everything I owned. In the letter Saor wrote me she said "I tried to go for a sentimental Edwardian Victorian feel for the jewellry." It's just perfect! That's exactly the type of thing I love.

A gorgeous kilt pin, which I've attached to my new purse!

The rest of the beautiful earrings that are going to be mine forever and ever and ever, all with beautiful names like "Titanic" and "Scarlett".

Socks, socks, oh my goodness, I love you socks! Striped in my favorite color! What could be better?? A cupcake flower pin, plucked straight from the cupcake tree! And a beautiful cuff that I will wear (Saor said she didn't make it, but I love it just the same!)

I've been drooling over these tree pins for what seems like forever, and Saor made me a beautiful one in sterling silver and Swarovski. This will indeed be a family heirloom!

One of my favorites (though I honestly can't pick just one!) is the scarf!! It's perfect, and has the beautiful cable running through it. I love it. And put it on immediately. Saor said "I think of it as something Cinderella would absently wrap around her neckl while she goes out to tend her roses--after she marries the Prince." How cute is that, and what a perfect description!

And she bought me Jane Austen notepaper and a Mr. Darcy magnet from the Jane Austen Center!! Even the ribbon says Jane Austen Center on it, with the little Jane Austen silhouette logo. The logo is to be my next tattoo--when I figure out where I want to put it--so I was particularly giddy for these.

And last but not least here's a beautiful post card, Jane Austen book mark and some yuuummmmyyy candy!

And, not pictured--Saor was sweet enough to send my sister (clovergrace) a pair of little green clover earrings since my sister helped me with some items for my half of the swap! She's already run off with them, which is of course the reason I couldn't get a photo.

Yes, I realize I've used WAY too many exclamation marks but every time I spotted something I got excited all over again! This was truly the best swap I've ever been in, and I couldn't have had a better partner!! Thank you SO much!!

My partner has received, but Charfish is a bit under the weather {{hugs}}.  I think I have pictures of most of the package, so here's what I made her:

since she's a teacher and loves kids books... her own hungry caterpillar bag!

Her favorite movie is Gone With The Wind... and part of the storyline is that Scarlett never has a handkerchief.  I embroidered one for her with quotes from the movie so she can cry into it at the end :)

the rest I'll show in thumbnails lol.

Notecards from the desk of...

A doggie placemat and neckerchief for her doggie
(https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=165771)

She secretly loves day of the dead fabric... so a pincushion and tissue holder

And for her daughter who loves Thomas

I love the Cinderella scarf - what is it knit out of? The yarn looks lovely.

And the Very Hungry Caterpillar bag is awesome.

The scarf is Rowan Summer Tweed - I am not sure what shade. It has a high percentage of silk mixed with cotton. It is quite slippery to knit cable with and I wasn't sure about it when I was knitting it but it looked good finished. It was the nearest shade I could get to Cinderella blue or what I thought Cinderella blue was!

Titancia-delighted you liked everything:)

Thanks for that Saor - after getting my shawl from Kidcompassion and seeing how the superwash merino knit up I am going to get some of that, and I have been wanting to knit with Rowan for some time too, so this is a perfect opportunity.

I warn ya -it's handwash only :) It also piles slightly when knitting with it. It's feels very nice though.

It's feels like cotton but silky at the same time.

I love the yellow sub embroidery. I am thinking of doing Moomin Troll pillowcases for a wedding pressent for my husband's uncle.

titancia -I was thinking of lining the shopping but I chickened out :P

I will be taking some of the jewellery you made on holiday this weekend.

I don't blame you for chickening out! I nearly chickened out with the book covers, but my sister helped me out with them. :)

Aww, I'm glad you like it all that much! I've already begun to wear yours. They're just so perfect for me! My trip to LA has been postponed until October when I can go to see Wicked (play) and Duffy (singer) and I'll definitely be wearing those Victorian drop earrings when I dress up for that! :)

Here are all of the wonderful items I received from cinderblock.

A Hello Kitty bento box and notebook for that novel I need to write some day, pink and purple bracelets, a charm bracelet with shoes on it (so cute!) but it's hard to see in this pic, stencils/transfers from a fave artist of hers + a pic of her cat, a darling tote bag with the cutest little girl reading a book, and a coin purse made out of a cassette tape (genius!).

Now for a couple closeups --

Look at this bento box!  It's real wood and painted very nicely.  Inside, the dividers are movable to accommodate different meals.  She also made some cute felt food, a set of chopsticks and included one of her fave recipes.

This bookbag is amazing.  I love the little girl -- she looks so happy reading under the tree.

Thank you for such a great package.  It was fun swapping with you, cinderblock, and everything will be put to good use.   :)

I just wanted to post some more pics of the things Hollistercobabe sent me. My old camera has been laid to rest, and it took me a little while to get a new one. I couldn't get any shots of the s'mores she sent as the hubby ate all the bits before we could make them  :-[

The necklace, baby cupcake, and cute card.

This is the only pic I could get of the glasses she etched, there was a second, that says Mr. Gross.

Wowie-zowie, SilentMynerva! You'll never have to worry about pens again, very cool! And that game, my gosh, your partner must have been doodling forever and day. That book stamp rocks. Wonderful job of getting everything to your liking, neat-oh.

I'm glad I saw the flower pens because I needed a reminder to put them on my list of things to craft. I've ordered these on-line and had them sent to a few of the remaining Munchkins (from the Wizard of Oz movie, members of our Oz club send things to let them know they are not forgotten) and they used red poppies, just like in the movie! They have all been well-received and I'm thinkin' they'd be great to make for my Oz swap partner. Another much-needed idea, yay!

You did a fabulous job on your bouquets, ademaree, as well as on everything else!

I like the flower pens and the hp suduko is clever.

dawt - that is the coolest thing - sending gifts to the Munchins. I love it.
I thought of you when I was in Brighton because I got a Wizard of Oz fridge magnet.

Is there a story behind the 100 pens?  I'm very curious.

I love the make your own sudoku idea!

Title: Re: Completely Random Swap Gallery!
Post by: SilentMynerva on September 08, 2008 04:46:21 PM
one of my randomness was

33.On average, 100 people choke to death on ball-point pens every year.

Title: Re: Completely Random Swap Gallery!
Post by: sonjabegonia on September 08, 2008 04:48:37 PM
Love it!!! And how creative to pick up on that random fact and craft 100 bic pins.  I'm impressed   :)

Title: Re: Completely Random Swap Gallery!
Post by: ademareej on September 08, 2008 04:50:58 PM
I came up with the sudoku idea, mainly because I didn't get good at sudoku until I got a board which uses colored marbles instead of numbers.  The pen idea...I have no idea where it came from.  I couldn't think of anything and couldn't think of anything and then there it was. and let me tell you, i thought making pens would be easy. and, it was. But making a hundred of anything takes bloody FOREVER!

Title: Re: Completely Random Swap Gallery!
Post by: SilentMynerva on September 09, 2008 12:56:02 PM
by chewing on it... :D and accidently swallowing it... i think...

Title: Re: Completely Random Swap Gallery!
Post by: ademareej on September 09, 2008 04:27:36 PM
That was my assumption on the pens..maybe the end bit comes out? or the cap? who knows.

Title: Re: Completely Random Swap Gallery!
Post by: SilentMynerva on September 09, 2008 04:48:01 PM
or or or or it could be some kind of ink poisoning while chewing on the end of a pen.... wow... i can come up with some mean ways of dying from swallowing a pen.... eh... :D

Title: Re: Completely Random Swap Gallery!
Post by: Saor on September 09, 2008 04:56:28 PM
Well I swallowed many a mouthful of ink ( & splinters of plastic and wood) in my time from chewing pens n pencils and I am not dead yet ;D ;D I am pretty certain it's from the caps and that's why  ball-point pen  now come here and in the U.K with a hole in the cap.

dawt - happy I made your day. it was a very cool shop. I got lots of movie postcards and a few fridge magnets. There was  a cute Wizard of Oz tin I am sorry I didn't get for myself. Tell Dawn Hi!

It's not over yet, people! I received from reenreen on Monday (post office hullaballoos), and here's the swag she sent me!

I said I didn't like cutesy bunny wunnies, so she sent me a zombie bunny instead... I've named him Barney!

A memory stick for all my graphic designery needs... hand-decorated with paisley motifs (minor obsession)

The most important daily requirements... coffee lollies and deep, dark chocolate (will be coming to work with me very soon!)

A delish red scarf - after a cold winter, I'm bored with all my old scarves, so this is a welcome addition to the collection. I'd just got home from work, so there was extreme bad face action going on - hence the cropping.

A GORGEOUS handbound journal, covered in butter-soft leather. Just the thing for sketches, ideas, lists, quotes and hopefully a bit of stash-busting fashion design!

This is cool. After I'd gone through everything, I realised that all of the little explanatory notes came together to make a picture of Robin Hood! Just chillin in Sherwood Forest. And on the left is the pretty handmade paper card with petals and leaves embedded in it.

Thanks so much reenreen! This was a great introduction to Craftster swaps - thanks for taking my cherry!  :D
