Oh my god oh my god!  I had a dream once that I had a pet lamb.  A little boy.  Who everyone doted on (including me).  At one point in my dream, I dressed him in a tee-shirt that said "I love Ewe!"  this just reminded me of this.

Good luck craftsters!

I'm going to sign up soonish.. I was going to say though that the sign up is pretty long on this one so its hard to tell if it will be small or not!

Don't worry, I'll send in my questionnaire soon! (probably when I get home from work...)  ;) I'm just trying to put some more suggestions in there so my partner will have ideas of what to do!

I can't wait to start! The sign up period is so long!

Is that a long sign up? I can end it sooner if that's what everyone wants. My kids dance recitals are around then so I figured I'd be zombie chauffeur mom that last weekend of May....but I can close the swap on the 28th before things get  really crazy for me.

This is only my second swap, so I can't say I have a lot of experience in sing-up periods, but for my first swap, the sign-ups were only for 10 days.

Still, I guess if we want more people we'll have to wait ;) some people said they'd sign up at the end of May. I'm ready to accommodate! I think I'll just do a quickie swap in the mean time (like the tea cosy swap).

I sent my info!  I am super excited for this swap, the first round of this was awesome.  That was either my first or second swap I ever did on Craftster, so it has a warm, fuzzy spot in my heart.

Yay!  Sheep!

Speaking of the warm fuzzies...I went to the NH Sheep and Wool festival last weekend and bought a whole alpaca fleece. Mmmmm...fiber.

Oh, can we pleeeeaassseee keep the long sign up time?  I need a bit of time to clear out some of my current swaps, and I really wanna do this one!

You know we want superhooker in this swap as she is an awesome swap partner! :D

A WHOLE alpaca fleece inle_rah? I'm so jealous! I just got my first batch of alpaca to spin and it was soooooo lovely to work with.

Unless the masses rise up in rebellion, I'll opt to keep the swap open until the 3rd. I think there are a few people who need to finish up swaps. We're a small enough group already and could use all the members we can get!

Here's a little something to watch while you wait:

The timing is good for me, so I'll probably be joining once I clear out some swaps... plus I'll be going to Wool Market in the middle of the swap, they have lots of sheep and goats and llamas and alpacas and sometimes even yaks!  :D

I think we all understand, Imagine.  Waiting to get partners is the hardest part of the swap...for me anyway.

And yes, dragonflyducky, my bag of alpaca fiber weighs just under 3 pounds, and is a beautiful mix of grey, black and brown from an alpaca named Guy.  It's my first time buying the whole fleece, so it was quite the splurge.  Someday, it is going to be a sweater.

Its good having a long sign up period cos it means it gives everyone time to finish swaps or organise lives, its sucks having a long sign up period cos you got to wait soooo looooong  :P
Either way, better to have it long and then shorten it if it has to be then have it short and noone able to join  :D
Jeez I wouldnt know what to do with that much fiber lol, I cant spin, knit or crochet  :-\ it probly end out using it as stuffing... and it being really expensive stuffing  ::) lol

Post by: SpottedFrog on May 14, 2008 07:45:12 PM
No theme yet, it's currently a hideous early 80's wallpaper in beige & terracotta :p I'm going to do the walls white and a cornflower blue with yellow accents. My girls have a pretty extensive rubber ducky collection, some will be moved to display along with a few other rubber ducky things that are not tub friendly. I figured the blue, white & yellow could grow up into classic French Country switching out the ducks for toile when they are older.

Man wish I could re do our bathroom. Im allowed to do all the rooms but not to themes. Id love a rubber ducky themed bathroom  :D although couldnt imagine my 6ft5 kiwi bloke showering with a fluro rubber ducky  :D :D :D same as all my sheep stuffies had to be moved to the spareroom as he didnt like them staring at him while he slept lmao

Hey I had a rubber ducky themed bathroom when I lived at my parents! (I still have some accessories in my current bathroom like the shower curtain and the mini carpet) It was mainly a pale yellow and on the bottom half of the wall we put a white wallpaper with light blue and light yellow checked pattern. They have tons of accessories at Zellers (Canadian Target) for this theme!

Your honestly tempting me lol. Ive been told I can pretty much do what I want so long as its not a sheep themed room  ;D yea... I like sheep lmao
Already half planning things to make for the swap, with any luck I wont feel too rubbish when it comes time to get crafting and my partner will like that sort of thing  :D

Oh I've always been fond of sheep. I grew up on the very edge of the burbs, our neighborhood bordered a huge ranch untill high school when they finally sold out. That family had horses & Angora goats. There were several sheep & goat farms very close to town.
It's funny Texas has a very different opinion of what is considered "domestic" from most states. Chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, sheep, horses and cattle are perfectly legal to have in your backyard in a neighborhood provided you meet the acreage requirements set by the state and deed restrictions allow (I think it's 1.5 acres for one horse or cow, and the deed restrictions spececificly have to disallow). So if I really, really wanted a sheep in my backyard, I could have it! Cuts down on mowing! There are a few rather posh neighborhoods in town where lots of people have horses, jumpers & such, not rodeo ponies.

Did you know Texas exports more Angora wool than any place else in the world? :D

I wish I could have a sheep!  Detroit doesn't allow anything cool like that....not that my yard right now would be big enough...

New Jersey allows backyard farm animals too...depending on where you live. I have a totally EMPTY barn ad two acres but my husband is dead set against getting any creatures :-\ But he doesn't say a word when I get several sheep's worth of wool delivered to the house so I can't complain too much.

There is a big tax break if land you own is "agricultural" (used for crops or farm animals) I don't know the specifics, but it might be a bargaining chip for DH :D

You mean in some places your not allowed a goat or sheep in the backyard? Wierd. My parents have few dozen chickens in their backyard, we have been known to have bobby calves  :D the neighbours have some and every now and then they comevisiting according to my partner (he gets rid of them before I see them in case I decide to keep them :D like Id do that  ;)

:D what's a "bobby calf"? Is that what we call a "dogie"? = an orphaned or rejected calf.

I bottle fed a dogie once, she's a big healthy cow now, we named her Hazel.

boy calves. We only keep the girls on dairy farms and the boys get sent to beef farms. They are about hip height - not sure how old they are

I've got more animals in my "backyard" than I know what to do with.  Living on a 180 acre farm gives a person alot of room to accumulate critters!

Free form crochet is so fun!! You'll love it.. all you need to do really is.. just the basic stitch (single crochet) over and over and over again!
We're trying to move right now so thats why I'm waiting to do sign ups.. I don't have a clue where we are moving to yet (and we need to be out the first of the month! EEEEEEEP!) - But I will sign up!

Crochet is fun!  I love it and have been working on teaching some of my knitting friends how to crochet.  I don't know why they are so resistant to it.

BTW, how many people are in this swap so far?  I noticed my name isn't on the list on the first page, are other people missing, too?  :)

Crocheting is fun... providing you mean mother doesnt make you undo everything! I dont live with her, but I was txtn her saying it "looked funny, was growing outwards" turns out I was adding 2 more stitches to each row lol, so now I get to unravel and start again... joy
So dont worry people, I wont be sending anything crocheted lol  :D

Yay!  I'm on the list.  :)  Thanks dragonflyducky.  I know that keeping up with these things can be time consuming.  I was the organizer for a swap once.  ONCE.  I was in a swap where the organizer kind of disappeared, so I took over.  And it took over my life.  *hugs to all the people who brave the organizing duties so the rest of us can have fun and make stuff*

Been there done that with fabric, scissors, stencils, paint brushes.... of course she's borrowed right back :) We have one set of paint rolleres we just pass back & forth for every big project, I have no idea who bought the last set of fuzzy covers. The paint pans have every color form 4 different houses. It's sometimes very nice coming from a crafty family. The downside is everything is perpetually messy.

Hardly anyone in my family crafts! My Mum knits and crochets, my Gran does a bit of everything but mostly knits and does hardanger and my Nana used to sew. No one else apart from me crafts! Drives me nuts, I use to make things for birthdays and get looked at like "yes thats nice but wheres the rest of my gift?"

Sorry about that! My mom has been staying with me and I've been a little fried! :-\
I think the list is up to date now. Please let me know if I missed anyone.

Yay!  I'm on the list.  :)  Thanks dragonflyducky.  I know that keeping up with these things can be time consuming.  I was the organizer for a swap once.  ONCE.  I was in a swap where the organizer kind of disappeared, so I took over.  And it took over my life.  *hugs to all the people who brave the organizing duties so the rest of us can have fun and make stuff*

hey, inle_rah!  fancy meeting you here :)

(inle_rah was my swap partner for round one, which was a fab swap!)

urgh, theres going to be a problem guys, now this ISNT me backing out, hell no, I'm in this swap. Its just that the day we partner (3rd of June) up Ill be in Chch getting ready for a colonoscopy (I get all the fun procedures) so I don't know if Ill be on my computer for a few days after that. So yea, if you don't hear from me, don't worry. Its just because they wont let me take my laptop or I'm too sick to even think about it lol.
Went out to Punikaiki yesterday and got some amazing ideas for what to make my swap partner, and had a ball looking and the pancake rocks (the blow holes weren't going because it was a nice day)

you can kind of see here all the wee ridges? if the light had been better you would see what looks like thousands of pancakes stacked one on top of the other ;D

That's funny! How come the Queen's birthday isn't on the same day in different countries? Here it's on May 19... We don't really celebrate the Queen though (sorry Vicky!) we call it Patriot's Day or Dollar Day (Dollar was a patriot in the 1834 rebellion who exploded himself... exciting isn't it?) but on the calendars it's also Victoria Day.

lol, I wish I was like the queen, having my birthday several times a year  :D although not getting older each time I had my birthday  ;D just imagine how awesome thatd be (would also have servants to sort out the party and food for me)
Sheep are always everywhere here in NZ, lol, I pretty much walk out my front door and tadaa - sheep  :D
Ive been resisting all urges to buy sheepy stuff, but if anyone wants novelty magnets with sheep on them (and of course "WestCoast New Zealand") I dont mind doing a personal swap (and yes, I will put a few in for my partner too, dont worry) Ive seen some awesome ones lately (Im in the LV swap so have been doing touristy things I wouldnt normally do) plus the postcards!!! so cute (Ive got one I want to frame but got laughed at and told to send it to someone)

The say good things take time  ;) dont stress too much.
Well so far I have advoided using super glue and I think I will continue to do so. I have a tendency to glue more of me than the craft  :D my favourite being I glued several buttons and glitter to my face (not too sure how I managed it but I did) my poor SO is getting really handy with nailpolish remover and turps  :D Ive got a hot glue gun now (new toys, yay!) how much damage do you think I could do with that? Don't feel inadequate.  I should probably admit that I had some extra motivation for finishing early because I am leaving for London tomorrow, so if it didn't get mailed out before I left, I was going to be a late sender...and I couldn't have that.

Besides, it just means that my swap anxiety has already begun.   :o

Sorry I haven't be in here, hard to get internet where I'm at right now.

Anyone else seeing sheep everywhere they go now? Even if there isn't.. I think I've even started dreaming about them :x

I'm so pumped for shipping... though nervous at the same time. Four days and counting, oh snap! If I can keep my cat away from my yarn and attacking my sister-in-law's instead, we'll be good ;)

dragonflyducky, your bunny is so cute.  love those pictures.

i am still on holiday, but finally have access to a computer for a bit, so I wanted to check in and say hello!

Also, my trip to Scotland included seeing lots (and lots) of sheep (and highland cows).  I'll share some pictures when I get home, if people don't mind.  :)

Whenever I see the words "highland cow"  I always think of my hubby...he is Scottish, and his nickname is "the Cow".

Phew! I just send my loot to Inle_Rah! That was close! I spent the last two days cussing at my sewing machine!  :P (PMS + sewing machine = the most swear words you've ever heard in you life!) Next time, I'll know not to wait 'till the "week before" to sew anything!

AND I received her package on Thursday! She was so quick! Everything is posted in the gallery! It was an awesome package!

Please make sure you pm me when you send out.  If you think you will be late please PM me and your partner so we know you're still planning to send.  If your name is still black in the first post I have not heard from you yet.
