I'm still fence sitting a little. I haven't been crafting much lately, so I was hoping that a swap would kick my butt into gear (it usually does). The send out for this swap is a week or so after my graduation, so I'd have to send early, which would mean I'd have something to distract me whilst I stress over my AP exam.   :-\ I still have some time to think.

If you can't think of an large item, I'm sure who ever your partner is won't mind you sending like 2 medium items instead, or something :)

Ok... I have been peeking at this... and like I posted before I am the riddler so I have so many questions. ;) especially since this would be my first swap. I know it says big, medium, small & that's a guideline. Can I have some more guidelines? like, I read in another one that big, medium & small was based on cost of the project, one was based on time spent...& then of course you could take this all very literally too. I've been thinking of some ideas...Thanks so much! :)

I just sent my information in. I think I wrote a small novel answering some of those questions, lol.  :)

dmbgirl41 - you'll figure it out. I just did my first swap - finished it just this week, actually. We also had to craft one small, one med, and one large. Your partner will help you out with questions (mine was great about that). If worst comes to worst, you can always do it by time - get a stop watch. ;) But, really, it's fun and I'm sure you'd figure it out in no time.

I really want to do this one!  I have been a vegetarian since birth and have so many great ideas for this swap!  I may have to just get myself on a serious crafting schedule so I can fit this one in...

I get a little anxious about the size issue too, dmbgirl41.  I am in the middle of my second swap and I think one of my "smalls" is actually going to be a "medium" and I'm kind of trying to decide what I should do about it.  I think in the end, as long as you let your partner know well in advance that you're having some size issues, and as long as you don't "undercraft," then they probably won't mind.  It's not like you're going to have a bunch of craftsters mad at you because they disagree with your size categories, especially since you're new to swapping!

Really?  It seems really really hard!  I've been veg for hmmm about 5 years me thinks?  But vegan still seems uber difficult!

Really?  It seems really really hard!  I've been veg for hmmm about 5 years me thinks?  But vegan still seems uber difficult!

Nah, vegan is super easy. I switched over immediately. It's just a matter of giving up cheese (I dislike the soy varieties) and switching to another type of milk. Eggs are easily replaced as well with tofu scrambles. And in baking with things like Enter G (sp?) or flax seeds and water.

Now, I will say that I follow a vegan diet 99% of the time only. And this is because I travel frequently. And the countries to which I travel for the purposes of my travels exclude the vegan option. I'm often gone anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks. In primitive camping conditions, where it's possible to be a vegetarian, but totally impossible to be vegan. I tried it once, and barely made it through the trip (my travels require a lot of backpacking and hiking), plus was anemic when I got back.

However, if you don't do extreme travels like I do (and few people do, lol), being a vegan anywhere in the civilized world is quite easy.

Try it for a week, and see how you like it. You can always go back. :)

baby steps. baby steps. (for me) I'm a cheese addict. Seriously. I read there is something called casein (sp?) in cheese & it gives you like a high...  Its been really easy switching back to vegetarian. But b4 I said I was "eating impared" I have a lapband, so regular eating can be tricky (I don't eat bread, pasta or grains (rice) usually...) AND I'm not suppose to eat beans (but I do) Isn't being vegan involve more than just food? Like products, shoes, clothing, etc. etc. etc. I know this isn't a go veg website- but I was curious too- b/c if I have a vegan swap partner I don't want to send them something that "breaks the rules" (PS- thanks guys this is inspiration to keep eating healthier & "friendlier". BTW- Ecstatic- I totally used your tutorial to make a few bags- it rocks (& so do my bags) & I also loved a bunch of your creations. I just checked out ur profile... awesome stuff!

Vegan is easy when you look into the cruelty of the milk industry...

dmbgirl - yes, it does involve more than diet. All animal products are out of the question - wool, leather, etc. But, this is not that hard any longer. There are tons of alternatives.

However, I am not the person to recommend them, as I just follow the vegan diet - except for when I am in extreme situations during travel. So, I can't say that I'm really a vegan as a result. I don't know, maybe I'm the only vegan (vegetarian?) who travels like this?! I haven't come across any who have been to the places I have, and thus have not found an alternative solution.

Plus, I stick only to the diet part of the vegan model. I shop at thrift stores for the leather (fake leather never decomposes and is bad for the environment), I eat local organic honey from a beekeeper known to me, I do use wool from humane sources - mainly from unraveled thrift store sweaters.

I'm more of the "let's save the environment, live simply, live humanely, and be healthy" group versus the "let's give animals rights" group. Hence I tend to say I'm a vegetarian, following a vegan diet 99% of the time.  :D

By the way ... I don't have any bag tutorials up.  ??? Maybe you looked under "favorites by other users" in my profile. Though, I'd love to be associated with them ... alas,it wasn't me. :)

I get asked the dreaded question a lot "You don't eat meat...why?" and everytime they ask, that bit by Jim Gaffigan runs through my head... "You don't use mayonaise? Why?....Is it ok if I use mayonaise?"

Keep 'em in the plastic pouch. That way the the bread is moist/soft and the insides get done. I get scared when I hear the pop but it is worth it!

I've had this thread bookmarked, because I've been thinking about it.  I did a veg swap a while back (maybe two years ago!), and it was fun.  I have to finish another swap project before I'll send in any more questionnaires!

I was so close to going vegan a few years back.  My preferences were just going that way.  But the only problem was the amount of travel I did for work, and where I did it.  I couldn't carry much food with me, and I had to eat in a lot of small-town restaurants (and school cafeterias).  It was hard enough to find vegetarian some days, much less vegan.  And then I got braces again for a year, and I couldn't eat my trail mixes!  I had to force myself to eat cheese, so I wouldn't be stuck with potato chips and rusty water.  I was already eating crusts pulled off pepperoni pizzas, for crying out loud!  It was ridiculous!  I looked forward to the peanut butter sandwiches I could pack in my lunches on the weeks I was in town!

And that Jim Gaffigan thing:  awesome.

yay!  I haven't been able to do a swap since my first one since I've been so busy, but now that school is almost out (and I quit my job :P ) I figured I'd see if there were any interesting swaps.  And this one is PERFECT!  Can't go wrong with a veg swap!
Definitely joining!

Hi,
Im a new member and would really love to do this swap. I've never swapped and I know that is a rule but wasn't sure just how hardcore that was. I'm a vegan and artist and have been waiting for just the right swap. Is there any way I can participate?

Hi, OneRedSock.  Here's a little something from the swap FAQ (found here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=229624.0) that might be helpful.  (I couldn't figure out how to quote it, so I cut & pasted.)
_____________________________
01. How do I participate in a swap?

First of all, you must meet the 4 conditions of swapping:

You must be a member of Craftster for 1 month.
You need to have at least 15 posts on the forums.
You may only sign up for ONE SWAP to start with. Once that one swap is completed and you have received your Positive Feedback, then you may join up to 5 swaps at a time. (Organizing limit at one time is 3)
You must not have any Negative Feedback on your profile.
You must read the signup form carefully, and make sure you agree with all the rules that the organizer has set up, including communication requirements, package size requirements, etc. Fill out the included form completely, including your username, real name, address, and email address. If you fail to answer any of the questions, the organizer will refuse to allow you entry into the swap.
___________________________

Basically, you can join a swap if you've been a registered member for at least one month and you've posted at least 15 times in the Craftster forums.  After you've completed that first swap and received positive feedback, then you can sign up to do more than one at a time, if you want to.  These vegetarian/vegan swaps happen every once in a while, so stick around and you can join in a later round!  :)  Welcome to Craftster!

Woot, woot! And I should be getting my ridiculous economic stimulus $$ within a few days. I was planning to spend most of it on bills... but I feel a trip to Jo-Anns coming on, as soon as I learn more about my partner. I guess I can "revive the economy" a little. eh.

Looking forward to finding out my partner...

Alas, I live in the middle of nowhere, fast food central. So, I have to make my own shakes. I can't wait for when I move to San Diego ... every time I go there, I have tons of fun trying out all the vegan restaurants. There's one that serves this AMAZING "cheese" cake. It's better than how I remember cheesecake to be - seriously!

So, yea, there's vegan shakes. :D There's some great recipes for home use out there too.

I can't wait to get partners! I've been looking at all the fun vegan stuff they have at cafepress. Some of those shirts are so funny, and apt. :)

It's been almost a week from when you got your partners,so I hope everyone has been in touch with theirs. :)

And for those of you who haven't checked in to this thread for a while here's a gentle reminder of what was listed as "details of this swap" on the front page:

Remember: Communication is key. The participants should report to this thread once a week before they send out. A simple "still alive and crafting" will suffice. Let's make this a flake-free swap!

Happy stalking/planning/crafting!

I took the afternoon off to craft. ahhh the good life. Spent a good 2 1/2 hrs. btwn Michaels & AC Moore. Its easy to get "lost" in those stores!!!

ANYWAY... my reason for writing was I had a question- and I thought- who better to ask than my friendly vegan craftsters!?!?! I have a feeling its a "stupid" question. But I'll ask anyway.

If you are vegan... and you have a pet- such as a cat (which I do) do you feed your cat/animal (fish/chicken) flavored food? or does that make your cat vegan too? And what do you feed them?

I'm sorry if this is such a ridiculous question, like I feel like it is, but I honestly don't know.

Cats can't survive on a vegan diet, I would consider trying to do so animal abuse

Oh gosh - I love you. ;) It's so refreshing to see a vegan who sees this real fact - cats = carnivores. I can't tell you the amount of vegans I have met who have a cat, and insist their cat is doing wonderfully on an all plant based diet. Which, to me, is also animal abuse.

I have a cat too - rescued her off of the streets at 3 weeks old. And she eats carnivorous meals. Actually, her durn organic cat food costs more than my food!

I know they have dog food that is made vegan.  I imagine they have cat food too.  I don't think I'd risk it, they weren't meant to be vegetarians.

Yay partner! I hate people who try to veganize everything. My cat eats meat, he loves meat and needs meat...There is a big article in VegNews on how to feed cats/dogs vegan food. My cat is my child (I am child-free) I would not harm him and I feel a vegan diet would harm him.

Also for the recored my boyfriend eats meat, I cook meat for him almost nightly (we do have vegan nights). I never thought I would but I learned to live with it. I have meat and vegan pans, silverware, and dishes. I might be a lil OCD but hey at least my guy is not at Burger King every night. I once chatted with a chick online who only had vegan friends, she could not be friends with anyone else due to morals...I am the only vegan I know in my town, my life would be lonely! To me being vegan is like a religion, I do not like people trying to convert me so I do not do it to them.

Just got back from craft shopping and Trader Joe's...they now have vegan ice cream sandwiches and I just polished off one!

I think it's ridiculous that one couldn't be friends with non-vegs. But I have to admit that I find myself more and more surrounded with vegans. But I think it is natural to surround yourself with people you have the most in common with. But yeah, I do have non-vegan friends too :)

Oh, almost forgot, we have our first sender: me ;)
It'll still take about a week to missmuffcake to receive, I will start a gallery closer to that.

I have tons of friends that aren't veg in the least, in fact I live with two (three if you want to count their two-yo son) and I love it except for when they make bacon. It stinks up the whole house! :(

All the same, I would also not complain about having more veg friends ;) it would make community lunches much easier!

i don't have nay veg friends and it sucks. I use to have quite a few and they have all turned back into meat eaters. I know everyone has their own preferences so it doesn't matter to me what my friends eat as long as they don't get on my case or throw stuff in my face, but sometimes it would be nice to have at least one friend that shared my views....or i could go out to dinner with at the vegan restaurant across the street that none of my other friends will step foot into...

Yea, I agree. I have no vegan friends ... but, then again, now that I think about it, I'm asocial and besides my mom and my S/O, I have no friends anyway, lol.

My S/O is what I call a "meat eating vegan."  :D He eats no dairy or eggs. But, he does eat meat from a local, organic, small farm near his place. He did try the vegan lifestyle for 2 years, and at the end of those 2 years he got cancer. I'm sure they're unrelated. But, he claims to feel much healthier eating meat. And, oddly enough, his blood work confirms this. Then again, he's a cyclist who does anywhere from 50 to 70 miles per day ... what diet wouldn't make such a person healthy?! ;)

Either way, it would be nice to go out with some vegan friends. But, I wouldn't know how to go about finding them. (Asocial people don't know how to socialize, lol.)

I met a vegan couple once and tried to befriend them...We even did meat-out together. However they feed their cat a vegan diet and we had nothing in common besides the vegan thing. I also know a veg chick who is Hindu and her religion calls for her to be veg. We used to talk nightly but she moved, I ran into her at the book store today...

Interesting topic I've missed out on here - vegan cat = sick cat!  Cats need vitamin A and taurine from meat (putting veterinary nurse head on here).  Sorry to jump on the bandwagon a little late there.  My bf is veggie, which helps, I could never cook meat in my house (the only meat eater here is the cat!).  I know some veggie/vegan people and it's nice to talk to them and not be made to feel a freak for not frequenting burger king or mcdonald's.

I had a vegetarian friend when I was studying in China (another American), it was great to have someone to go out to eat with or to sympathise with when there was nothing for us to eat.  Most of our other friends actually liked eating out with us because of all the veggie dishes we ordered.  Can't find anyone like that here!  Curse of living in beef-eating Texas?  Maybe.  I know very few veggies through a Buddhist group, but that is about it.  People thought I was insane when I was a waitress and they asked me what was good and I said I was a vegetarian so I couldnt' eat anything there.  It's like I was from another planet...Small town restaurant though....
I don't have moral issues with people who aren't vegetarians, everyone's choice and all, and I thought I wouldn't mind living with someone who wasn't a vegetarian until I go over to my sister's apartment and smell the meat cooking.  Makes me sick.  So that would put a damper on a relationship with a meat-eater.  As long as they don't cook in my house, it would be fine, lol.

It would be nice to have someone to go to vegetarian restaurants around here, my family won't set foot in one.  I don't think my sister has eaten a vegetable since she was 10.

Ecstatic: Have you checked out meetup.com?  A lot of cities have vegetarian meetup groups that go out to eat together :)

I'm getting along pretty far on my projects!!  Yay!  I'm having fun!

Ah, see, I have a rather different problem. I have not ingested meat in years. I know all about the cruelty aspects, even though I originally stopped for my health. None of that information makes cooked meat smell any less delicious to me. My mouth STILL waters, even after all these years. It takes a lot of willpower to not have any of my partner's cooking. I have never caved, and probably never will.

But, it's tough for me. Especially, as I know he only gets meat from a local, sustainable farm where the animals frolic happily in the grass ... until their time comes, to put it delicately.

So, I wish I had your problem actually! Maybe I'll develop it in a few years.

There's a shirt I saw on cafepress. It said "Meat is Murder" in large letters. Underneath, in smaller print it said "Delicious, delicious murder." That about sums up my problem.

Anyway, thanks for the tip on meetup - I will check it out. :)

Marinade your tofu and fake-meats in vegan friendly steak sauce or marinades. Maybe that will help. I don't care for the smell of most meat but seafood (which makes my boyfriend ill) makes me barf. I hate anything fish-y smelling, even nori wrappers  on vegan sushi makes me ill!

I can't even eat fake meat because it is too much like real meat.  I guess it just means you have more willpower than I do!
It started when I was a kid.  I found out what hotdogs were made of and they never tasted the same after that.  Slowly it happened with all meat until I was getting nauseous after every meal just from the thought of what I was eating.  Wasn't difficult to stop eating meat  (though, living in China at the time, finding chicken feet and whatnot in dishes was kind of off putting) . My teacher said I was a born buddhist :P  Always subconsciously adverse to eating animals.  It did take me a few months to stop eating fish though.  It was easier since I wasn't able to move back to New Orleans.  I don't know if I would ever have been able to give up crawfish if I had lived there!  I'm still searching for a way or a place that makes a vegetarian fake-crawfish etouffe.  I would DIE.

Spent most of today bent over my crafting table doing my big project today!  Still not close to being done, but I'm oh so slowly getting there :)  Maybe I'll make some of my small project, just to feel like I'm accomplishing something

I think that my medium became my large. And my large will be my medium. Based purely on time. I'm hmmm... a little less than half way done on my Large. 3/4 done with the small & I gotta start my large. Mother's Day & My mom's birthday are back to back, kinda put me into super crafting mode this month! My room looks like a craft store exploded in it- but hey- at least I can't complain I'm bored!  ;D

*Does happy dance around the flat*

So, yeah, I was pissed earlier in the week, but I'm glad I persevered cos my medium/large is finished and it rocks!  It turned out much better than I thought it would, and I honestly think it's one of the best things I've ever made.  I'm not a confident sewer, but my confidence has been boosted now this worked out.  And I just about had enough thread. Ha, I burnt my arm on the iron too but I don't care!!

I just really really hope Stina likes it as much as I do!

amymisha, I hope your daughter feels better soon!

I forgot how long it takes to knit, AHH (not to give any hints! ;)) Small is done, medium is half way, and large is not yet started :( I thought I'd have more time this week, but we've been having really long days. And I'm in the middle of packing up my entire life to move! But if I can just get a couple hours tomorrow to finish my medium and packing, I'll have all Friday to do my large and send out before I leave. Now to catch a few hours of sleep!

Looking forward to a nice long weekend full of crafty goodness and a yard sale (where I get to sit around a lot and, you guessed it, craft!). I will def be able to pull this together and get it mailed out next week... not sure what day yet. Fingers crossed, Tuesday!

PS I got a slushie maker so I can make slushies for Mish. Now I have no idea how I lived without one for so long!!! I want one when I was growing up! We've been having fun creating new slushie syrups with Kool-Aid mixes.

Holy Craft Day, Batman!

I have been a crafting fool today (in between trips to yard sales for crafting scores). I finished the large, and am almost done with a medium. That and the medium I finished earlier this week.

On the yard sale front, I got a few great sheets to use as fabric for bags (50 cents a set!), a great linen table cloth to use in making stuff (25 cents), a huge bag of funky yarn (50 cents), and a super vintage Yahtzee game with all the pieces. I am really loving using sheets as fabric... they are so cheap and I have found some great prints.

I love yard sales and sewing.  :D

I sent mine out yesterday also. PMed everyone I was suppose to just a minute ago! Just a little blurb about cost. I went to mail it out at this little private place called Parcel Post on my lunch break, figuring it would be easier than going to the crazy Post Office in the City. I had looked it up online for estimated cost. Whatever, that was fine. But when I got to the Parcel Post. They wanted like $15. extra!!!! I felt bad, since the girl was nice... but I ended up making a trip to the P.O. in the City anyway after work. That's just a little insane if you ask me! I haven't really sent too many packages before, but I'm learning...and learning that you should just deal with the hectic Post Office!!! Anyway, I hope my partner likes her stuff, and I hope everyone else enjoys theirs too!!! Have a great weekend everyone!

I sent on Friday! I'm just slow to post. :/ And about postage, I freaking love those flat-rate pre-paid envelopes. Especially having a rural route post office, where it once cost me $12 to send a legal size envelope to texas (!!!!) every little bit helps.

I am sending a few days late, my partner knows this. I needed to go to the flea market to buy something, turns out the only colors I could find were ugly. So I panicked ran over to Michael's and found a suitable replacement. Been crafting since last night on my medium.

At the flea market I saw a stall with all these different birds in multiple cages including roosters. They also had bunnies and lil dogs, I felt sick to my stomach. I then saw a person with baby bunnies in a cage and they looked sickly, I even forgot my bunny allergy and was trying to pet them. :(

:'( That's so awful! I volunteer at a no kill animal shelter- Pets Alive, the shelter I volunteer at had everything from Dogs & Cats to Pigs & Chickens! (before there was a sister shelter for Farm Animals) I'm a firm believer that no one should have a pet that came from a store, or flea market, etc. Not when so many animals are just sitting there at so many shelters waiting to be loved  :'( If you ever Saw Pee Wee's Big Adventure as a kid... remember when he goes & Frees all the animals from the Pet Store? Wouldn't you have just loved to do that?

Ugh, we have a section at the huge flea market that I go to also.  I make sure I never make it to that side.  Don't you just want to stick up pictures of conditions at puppy mills?  I considered doing that.  Making poster sized pictures and posting them on the windows of a store that sells puppies.  So sad :(
That place you volunteer at sounds fantastic!

:'( That's so awful! I volunteer at a no kill animal shelter- Pets Alive,

Right now I am trying to collect donations for the local humane society for an auction. I have always donated to no kills. My mom has a lil fund called 'pennies from heaven' in which she collects change she finds in the street/stores and saves it, and at a certain point donates it to a shelter or cat cause in my sister's name*. I believe the last thing she used the money for was to trap/spay a cat that was roaming where she works (out in the country) and place it in a home.
My cat Mar:

is mothered from a stray my sister found abandoned and abused, my mom still has her, her name is Mickey, she is the queen of the house. Mar is 11 years old and a spoiled kitty, he is in bed by Torrance's package now (he has a fetish for something I am sending you and I had to pry him off the item). I have a stray that comes and goes named Tyler (or Tyler McGee as I call him). I make up lil stories about them, play dress up with Mar and they even get bday gifts and santa comes for them. That reminds Mar better get his daddy a gift for father's day, we already got him a card. :)

*my sister died almost four years ago at the age of 23 in a car accident, her friend was drinking and driving and she did not have her seat belt on. She was a cat lover and rescued every cat she found!

Ok, so now I'm really intrigued about what you're sending me :D

Sorry to hear about your sister missmuffcake

Speaking of rescued cats.

this is my mom's & my niece's (my niece lives with my mom) cat Nemo. Two summers ago my mom heard that in a nearby farm there were this litter of kittens, that the owners were going to drown. So my mom (who is by far not that big on animal rights or anything) jumped in the car and went there. There were only two that weren't drowned yet. So my mom took them home with her. I have never been more proud of my mom. And I have never been so disgusted of a human being than with the farm owner who thought it was perfectly appropriate to a) drown unwanted kittens b) talk about drowning the kittens in front of my then 7yo niece.

Here's a pic of Nemo and his sister Muusa:

Muusa unfortunately died at the end of last summer. Very sad. They were so cute together :) They played together all the time.

My sister rescued a litter of kittens that she found behind the place that she used to work at.  She has two of them and I have one.  We rescued the mama cat too and ended up giving her to an avid cat lover lady that we trusted enough with her :)

The family, about 2 years ago.  I have the one that doesn't fit with the others :P  Her name is MaoMao, which is short for Maoxiong which is the opposite of Xiongmao which means BearCat (otherwise known as a 'panda')
She looks like MaMa Mao :)

I can't believe anyone would be able to drown kittens!  What a horrible person!  That is so wrong and would offend anyone with any sensibilities. I'm glad you were able to save some of them.  Sorry about Muusa :(  One of my cats (and my dog) died last summer too.  Losing pets is awful.  They'll all be waiting at the rainbow bridge :)

I'm sorry to hear about your sister missmuffcake, it is so nice that you are doing something in her memory that can help some poor animals though!

A kitties.
Are any of use dog owners?  Or a craftsters cat people?

I think, we are cat people! hahaha. This is Abbi. She's going to be 4 on August 10th. I only know her birthday b/c she picked it. When I brought her home she was so tiny we let her prance about on the calendar. And when she got tired she sat right down on August 10 & her little butt fit right in the square. When I rescued her she was only 3 weeks old. Or so I was told. A friend of my ex's was being evicted and his cat just had kittens, which were unexpected. I think there were 8. And they ate pizza outside his house (& milk from their momma) he didn't know where the kittens would go- so I took the runt of the litter, figuring she would have the hardest time trying to survive on her own. I brought her to my mom. At the time I didn't live with her (like I do now  ::) and she was in desperate need of some company (so I thought) And anyway, I don't know what happened to the other kittens, I called all the shelters I knew of & none could take cats at the time :( (this is before Pets Alive was around) I asked my boss who is a big business man around the area- if he knew anyone... he told me to do the most horrifying thing to the kittens. I'm not even going to repeat it, its that horrid. But apparently, its what they did on the farm where he grew up. (he's like 70+) people are so evil. Anyway, I saved at least 1 kitty. And she's so entertaining, not cuddly tho  :-\ And we love her!!!

Aww so many amazing stories of animal rescue!
Though not all of us are cat owners ;P
I have two amazingly cute puppy dogs (they will always be puppies to me!).
They are so loving I would hate to think of the day they leave me (NEVER!).
I always wanted to rescue animals from the local pet shelter-but I was shocked to discover that they were actually being treated better that the ones in the local pet shop.
One of my friends started working at a big pet shop chain and she had a lot of horror stories for me!
Everytime I walk past those poor little puppies in the tiny glass cages it makes me wanna take them all home :(
Anyway, here are my two sooks as they snuggle me in bed....
;D

On the topic of cruelty my uncle's co-worker once found a puppy and took him home. I guess the puppy was a bit hyper and tore into stuff (most puppies will) so the guy took his young son, the puppy and a gun into the back yard, the guy made his son kill the puppy - to teach him how to be a man. Sick huh?

I hate when people dump there pets or leave them when the move. That is how we have Tyler...I had a kitty I found when he was a baby, I named him Monty. Monty was wild, I had him for 2 years, he got out one day and after searching for him for days I gave up. I then saw him a week or so later and I tried getting near him and he would lunge after me. We have a feral cat colony in the complex and he joined them. People (inc. myself) go out and feed the cats daily. I still miss Monty, I would always say he was prissy so I bought him a fake boa and a lil plastic chihuahua toy to play with.

Abbi and I share a birthday!   :D

Claraohara - Your puppies are adorable!!  I've always been a dog person, but somehow my family got stuck with a bunch of cats.  And even my parent's cat was rescued.  My friend saw the litter out behind his property and apparently the people next door were putting out poisoned meat and it killed the mom :(  So we rescued the kitten, we had to bottle feed him.
How can people be so mean to animals?  Honestly, it is almost worse than hurting another human.
And I know what you mean about wanting to save all the animals, I used to sell pet food at pet stores that had those adoption places set up.  Every single weekend I was SO CLOSE to bringing home a dog.  They were so sweet!  I even called my sister up occasionally to see them and ultimately talk me out of having a dog in a 400 sq ft apartment.

missmuffcake - that poor kid is probably going to grow up with a lot of issues all because of his dad.  That is awful.

It really disgusts me how people can be so cruel to animals who only show them love and affection.
My parents have adopted two cats that kinda came with their new house. The old owner used to feed them so they still come to the back door every night for food.
Seeing the funny characters of animals makes me sick to think of people killing them.
And even sadder when I know that a lot of country people will drown unwanted kittens :(
One of my family's dogs was shot simply because he barked and chewed a few things.
My parents lied and told me he had gone to another farm.
A doggie heaven farm they later told me.
I was so hurt-I went on a big rant at them.

My puppies are the biggest damn sooks ever! We are shopping for a kennel today as it is getting annoying having to fight for the any blanket in this horrible winter weather. As soon as I jump into bed, the little black one is up in a flash and under the covers-though it is nice to have puppies spooning on either side.

Oh and I am posting today!
Stupid long weekend!
;D

Something tells me that you're such a great group that there will be no need for angels :)

I'm happy, just had to tell you all you made me so :)
(also the bangs I cut myself yesterday make me kinda happy)

My kitteh!!  I used to work at a veterinary practice, and people would sometimes bring their healthy animals to us to have them put to sleep.  Libby was one of those .  I've had her for about five years now and she's my best friend.  I can't believe someone would just want to get rid of her so easily.  She's my puddin.  She's so sweet and loving.

With regard to the swap, my partner received (it arrived quite quickly too) and I'm so pleased she likes what I sent.
