Title: Puffles, a penguin and 2 aminekos
Post by: teachingjonah on March 09, 2008 09:53:44 AM
I made these puffles and penguin back in December, but I like them.  The puffles are from the Club Penguin Game.  The penguin is from a free pattern on the Lion's Brand website.

My youngest son wanted a grey cat, and my older son wanted Tom from Tom and Jerry, so I had an excuse to make my first aminekos.

Thanks for looking :)

These are so cute! Great job! That Lion Brand penguin has been on my to-do list for a while now, seeing yours inspires me to actually start working on one soon!

I also really like the eyes on the Puffles, though I didn't know what a Puffle was. Thanks for explaining it in your post! They're very cute!

Hi, I didn't use a pattern for the puffles, but I think you can get the general idea.
I first made a ball (I think the middle was around 48 stitches).
For the eyes, I just made two lopsided circles and joined them with the white yarn, Then I used black embroidery thread to stitch them on, and add the pupil.  I also used the embroidery thread for the mouth.
For the yellow's hair I crocheted fun-fur into a circle and stitched onto the puffles head with the tail.
For the green's head, I used strands of yarn and a latch hook technique.
I hope that helps.

The cats & penguin, are they difficult to make?  I dont know how to crochet, but want to learn because Id love to make little crochet critters like that.

No, They weren't difficult.  Here is a link to see more cats and to get the pattern:

It is definately worth learning to crochet to make them, and you only need to know how to single crochet :)

Zomg! I saw Puffles in the thread title and I couldn't believe it. Three of my really good friends work for Club Penguin. I definitely know what they're getting for their birthdays! Thanks for the inspiration :D

Thanks everyone.  I forgot to add that I used a G hook and Caron's simply soft (Worsted Weight) to make the puffles.  I also used Red heart for some that aren't pictured.  Sorry I didn't write a pattern, but I would love to see any other puffles that you make :)

Aww, thanks crochet monkey.  Disney would probably take issue with me trying to sell a puffle:)  They sell a plush version on the Club Penguin site.  That's actually why I made it, because my boys really wanted them, but I wasn't going to pay for something I could make myself.
I can't wait to see yours!

Alrighty so I made a couple Puffles for my friend's birthday this weekend. He works for Club Penguin and has always been especially fond of the black Puffles. So I made one for him and for his wife.

I added a little flower for the girl Puffle

and they have smirking mouths - which you can barely see because of the black on black but they needed mouths regardless.

My friend just loved them. Thanks again for the inspiration Teachingjonah ;D

Those are so cute!  I'm so happy you made some.  I thought about making the black one with a dark, grey charcol color, so the black details would stand out.
You did great work  ;D

Make a magic circle to start, and then crochet 6 single crochet into the circle.
Don't join the rounds
Make two double crochet into each of the single crochet (12 total stitches)
Again don't join the rounds (You might want to use a stich marker)
For the 3rd round you will sc, sc, sc increase and repeat until the end of the round (18 total stitches)
You'll want to increase the rounds with 6 stitches each time.  I think my largest round was 48 stitches.  Once I got to my largest round, I made about 4 rounds of 48 stitches and then I started decreasing until the ball closed.  (Make sure you stuff it at some point :)
I'm going to put the link that provides much better instructions!

my friend cam round and got my son into club penguin yesterday, he's already had his time restricted! - he clearly has his mother's obsessive personality  ;)

so first thing I think of is crocheting a penguin or puffle, so second thing I think of is coming on here cos I just *knew* someone on here would have already done it!

LOVE your puffles!  Am inspired!

Not sure about doing a penguin though....and they can change colour too - so I'd spend ages making an orange one with a yellow belt only to be told he's got another belt now and changed his penguins colour!

I love the penguin, partner! It is adorable! I was just browsing the crochet thread and saw the penguin and had to click and then I realized it was you! Somehow I missed this when I was stalking you for the swap. ;)
