Details of swap:
This is the Easy Peasy Swap - it's just that!  Easy Peasy!
You are required to make ONE MEDIUM SIZED CRAFT and that is it. No more, no less.  Just a medium.
What is a medium?  For this swap please plan to spend 2-4 hours of crafting time. Crafting time is actual time that you are spending physically crafting.  time to dry does not count.  shopping for the crafting does not count.  physically crafting is the time that counts  ;)

Other Info on Medium Size crafting options for this swap:
As in medium will fit in to one of these general categories......
By time: 2-4 hours total actual crafting time
By price: $15-$30
By physical size: one single necklace or bracelet, a scarf

Soooooo
The size *medium* can refer to one of three things according to craftster - physical size, amount spent to create said item or the time that it takes to craft the item in question - not a combination of all three....  As long as you fall in to one of those categories you are creating a medium sized item.

Say one were to make a set of 4 things that go together - like 4 placemats for instance - say each one takes 45 minutes to make - if you were to only send one placemat then you would not be filling the swap requirement.  If you made 4 of them then you would - you would be in the targeted craft time range..
OR
You make one purse that took you 3 1/2 hours to make you are in size medium range.
OR
if you were to make a beaded necklace.  You used nice crystal beads that you scored on sale - total cost comes in at $12.  You are in size medium range.
OR
if you were to make a knitted scarf of some sort - that would fall in to range - as opposed to a sweater or a knitted felted pin
I hope that clarifies a bit....

I have a hard time waiting for smaller swaps to come up... I always get nervous about ones with larger requirements, esp since I like to spoil!  I would never get everything done in time  :P  Anyway, I sent in my info- this should be a good one!

I hope this doesn't sound dumb...lol..but what would a medium craft be? Like medium in size, like a purse? Or just 2-3 hours in craft time, like stitch markers could be, but they're still small. Sorry if I'm not expressing myself correctly....:P. Just looking for examples.  ;D

Mediums go by price or time spent mostly - I put down crafting time to try to just level the field a bit - I'll add a bit more info about the medium requirement..

Okay - that was very odd!  Thanks for the heads up!

I will be looking for active coorganizers to help with this swap - I am not sure how many I will need at this point - it depends on how many people we get joined in... So if I have anyone interested in being a right or left arm, let me know!

I am seriously considering signing up for this one, I just need to make sure I have time to do it right!

Question: In the beginning of the post in the guidelines, it says that a medium size craft corresponds to $15-30...What does that mean? Are we supposed to spend that much on supplies? Or is it like the price the item would be if it were purchased in a store? I ask because a) I am a broke student b) already have a massive stash that I can draw from and c) am pretty good at finding bargain fabrics and the like, as well as recycling and reusing...

Hopefully I'll be signing up tomorrow ;D

The size *medium* can refer to one of three things according to craftster - physical size, amount spent to create said item or the time that it takes to craft the item in question - not a combination of all three.... I will get that clarified on page 1... As long as you fall in to one of those categories you are creating a medium sized item.

Now having said that - say one were to make a set of 4 things that go together - like 4 placemats for instance - say each one takes 45 minutes to make - if you were to only send one placemat then you would not be filling the swap requirement.  If you made 4 of them then you would - you would be in the targeted craft time range..
OR
if you were to make a beaded necklace.  You used nice crystal beads that you scored on sale - total cost comes in at $12.  You are in size medium range.
OR
if you were to make a knitted scarf of some sort - that would fall in to range - as opposed to a sweater or a knitted felted pin
I hope that clarifies a bit....

I wasn't going to sign up for swaps, but I can't resist the lure of a swap so easy it qualifies as "easy peasy". One little one can't hurt... right?

Yay I want to play too!

I've been a member for a while now, but never been quite brave enough to start swapping.  This will be a great first, and a good time for it too, since the huz is going to be out for surgery for 3 weeks and I'll have lots of time to craft while he's feeling yucky.  It'll keep me occupied so I'm not hovering over him all the time, or bored cuz he can't hang out with me.

This is going to be so fun!  Watch, soon I'll end up being addicted to swaps.

Especially considering I see Canadians here that I haven't yet swapped with...
But I don't know if I'll have the time to do this as well as my other huge swap.
I'll see how things go ^^

You're telling me! This is, according to my profile, my 37th swap. That's an average of over one per month since I joined. I've been on a swap break since last fall, but I've been drawn back in.

And I just realised yesterday was my 3rd Craftsterversary, hurray!

"I've been on a swap break since last fall, but I've been drawn back in."
No wonder I haven't really encountered you swapping yet!  :D Nice to see another Canadian back in the pot ^^
Sometimes I ship to the US, but usually I'll ask for a Canadian partner - and it's getting to the point where there're either no other Canadian swappers, or I'm paired up with a previous partner (though luckly for me, these people were awesome partners both times :) I just hope they didn't mind swapping with me again ^^; )

Deb - I know, I knowww. But if they let me have my line (er, very small line at the moment ^^; ) in the school's fashion show, then I'll need to spend my regular crafting time sewing more clothing for that. Wish me luck!
I'll most likely find out if my clothing will be in it on the 19th I think - that's when their next meeting is, unless she contacts me before then. I reallyyy want this >< so I have to devote tons to that, plus I'm in a huge swap :/
And this is where I apologise for practically writing you an essay!
Sorry Deb <3

But if I pull a "stretch yourself even thinner than you already are because secretly you kind of enjoy being super stressed because it means you're doing something" then well, maybe then I'll join in  ;)

But if I actually use my better judgement, then I wont be :(

I keep looking at this swap.  I'm just gonna sign up and be done with it.   :)  I've not done any small swaps yet.  It seems fun.

Definitely a good place to start, although I started with the Chocoholics Swap Round 2, with a small, medium and large!! Way too much for me as a swapping newbie, lol!!

This one should be a piece of cake ... as long as I can find some money for supplies etc, lol

I've been swapping in other places before here, but my first craftster swap was the pet swap. I work with dogs, so it went pretty easy for me. ;)
I love the little ones tho.  ;D

This brought a funny image to my mind...

"Here, pup!  Here, boy!  Into the box!  In you go... You're going to New Jersey, and I'm getting a kitten in exchange!"

It's been a loooooong week.   :P

Sometimes that sounds almost tempting... We have 3 dogs, they can be a bit michevious at times! ( I love them tho, of course, and would never trade them! ;D)

I was thinking about joining this swap. Would yall consider a little girls dress say for a 4 yr old and under a medium project? I love making dresses and really all I do is sew. So it's a toddler dress or quilt...and quilts, well they take a long time to make. Has anyone joined who would like a dress for your little girl? I didn't see anyone who frequents the kids board.

What about a small wall quilt - they don't take too long.

or quilted placments or a quilted tablerunner?  in a simple design, those could be mediums...

That's a great idea! I know my walls are SO bare! however, it is a rental, so I would have to find a way to hang things without poking the wall.... ugh. :(
Those sound like great ideas to me!

Also, what about a smallish quilted bag? I know thoses are really popular around here... well, at least on the University of Kansas campus in Lawrence. ;)

Hmmm. Never thought about those. I've never made a tablerunner, placemats, or small wall quilt. And I'm afraid if i do I'll want to keep it. Those are great ideas though. I tend to work on the quilts that take forever. I got inspired by this thread:
https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=230031.0 (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=230031.0)

So I have all the squares finished, just need to cut the lattice and rest of the quilt and finish. But I usually make rag quilts. I did just get the supplies to make this quilt:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Joann-SIMPLY-SWEET-My-Style-Quilt-Kit-with-Backing-Kit_W0QQitemZ270218827243QQihZ017QQcategoryZ19160QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem (http://cgi.ebay.com/Joann-SIMPLY-SWEET-My-Style-Quilt-Kit-with-Backing-Kit_W0QQitemZ270218827243QQihZ017QQcategoryZ19160QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

Each block came in a package to make 2 or 3 blocks and there were 8 total blocks plus I got extra fabrics for the backing and other parts. So those definitely take a long time.

I'm too lazy to renumber when someone drops out of the swap that's all.. you are right - we do have 47 people signed up - and I decided to just add the newest folks to the end instead of filling up the empty spots since some have been watching the list grow and might miss some of the newer crafters that have signed up...
lazy me!  I have been outed!
 :D

Less than a day for signups folks... so if you are sitting on the fence, get off it and send in your form before your butt gets hurt on the pointy pieces of that wood fence!
okay, did that make any sense? It might not have.  It does in my brain but we all know that my brain works different than most people's brains... highly functional in a round about way that doesn't make sense to too many people but me!
 :D

Ah - but I AM lazy!  You should see how I match up people for when we do the silly swap - I literally match up the first package posted with the first person signed up and so on and so forth - okay, that is the only swap that I can get away with a dirty trick like that since everyone is suppose to steal things from one another - but yeah, I do own up to it!

I had considered renumbering and all and then thought better of it... then I thought of filling in the blanks and highlighting the new entries but figured heck, everyone here knows I am quirky ;D
it's all good in the end..!

This should be a fun swap - not too big, not too small, just right :D
I feel so nursery tale now!

Okay, back to work...!

Title: Easy Peasy Swap (one medium thing with a catchier name :)) - signups til 3/20
Post by: Yarn or Fabric on March 20, 2008 04:38:55 AM
yes, today is the day - but it will be this evening...
I will be out until mid afternoon -
I'm going to set up partners during the evening and then post the list on the front page.
I'm going to have half of you guys reporting in to QuiltersBlock and will post up that info when partners are assigned - I'll spare QB from having to do pairings and go easy on her this swappy round...!

So you guys should have partners before I go to bed - but you might not have your questions from the form until morning... we shall see how long it takes to forward all those pm's - I would have QB do it but I have all the stuff you guys sent in my inbox right now so it is probably just easier for me to do that...

Right now we are at 52 people - ckchan was the last entry I made this morning...
Okay crafters...
you can all start getting ready - soon... just a few more hours -
I will post up when I get back from rollerskating camp/embroidery class/the park this afternoon and that will be it so if you are considering this swap - consider making your decision very very soon!  In about 9 hours you won't be able to (okay, that time is approximate - it will be when I get in the house and log on that time will be up for any of my fence sitters!

Craftydeb, you're an organized machine! You seem to be very on the ball with this. I particularly like how the list of participants has links to everybody's profile--very thoughtful of you!

Don't know if I'm more excited about being a co-organizer (esp. since craftydeb is actually doing all the work!  ;)) or just the swap itself.....

Oh my goodness. Didn't mean to post so late. I hope I made it in. I hadn't been checking swaps for a while. I have been in a funk with all the bad weather and my hubby suggested last night that I do a swap since I always get so into them. I checked at noon, saw this one and signed up right away. Sounds like a great swap!

I was just now reading all the comments when I got to page 6 and realized that the cut off is not only today, but today in about 15 minutes. I hope I made it. I will keep my fingers crossed.   ;D

I am working on partner pairings now - I have not even begun really - okay, I do have three partners set up already - but that is just a drop in the bucket!

I will post it up as soon as I am done - it shouldn't take a ton of time - but we shall see....

I'll let you all know - thanks for being so patient!!

Since you're a FOC you can click on the camera icon next to the photo of the project you want to add and a prompt will ask you whether you made it or someone else made it. Click the relevent one and the project will be added to your favorites.  :)

Actually, that is one the things I was interested in.  I don't sew, so I don't know if that is medium or not.  I have a two year old who could use some cute summer dresses. :D

You have some cool skillz too babyskillz! You made the owl tree? that thing rocks :)

This is going to be a great swap!

Thanks! :-[  I'm glad you liked it.

Tanza i Loooove your statue in your avatar!  So gorgeous!

Okay. I have finished partner pairings.. I want to double check to make sure that I didn't set someone up twice and that everyone is set up...  I do believe I got everyone squared up though.

Okay - and you all are a bunch of suck ups ya know  :D
You can send dark chocolate, cinnamon gummy bears and cherry licorice to my home as bribery next time.. the sugar would probably make me work faster!!

I did have a LOT of interruptions though.  I have cooked and eaten dinner, played video games, gotten things off of high shelves and still managed to finish up barely before the kids are due to go to bed!

I will say that you all will not get the questionnaires you filled out until tomorrow but you can start to stalk and whatnot before then!

kay - I take that back. I've got an odd number and need to do a kinky crafter combination... and need to do a little maneuvering.. unless someone thinks they can do up a second package in the allotted time... I need to put the chitlins to bed and will finish up as soon as I get story time over...

update - partner obtained - and I tell you what - I could not have gotten a better match!!!  It was just dropped in my lap and a beauty it is!!

There is a method to my madness in all of my pairings.  I hope that I have done well for everyone!

Just a reminder - keep in touch with your partner - swapping is a social thing!!

Please stick to a medium item - use the answers your partner submitted as a starting point only - a lot of us (me included) have no idea how long a craft takes if we don't do it ourselves so some things might just not be in the medium size category...!

Most of all have fun with it!!!

Title: Re: Easy Peasy Swap
Post by: naturalcreation on March 21, 2008 11:17:46 PM
I have both items almost finished. (I always make more then 1 item in case my partner changes their color scheme, or mind, or whatnot, halfway through!) They were not even all that easy to make, especially since half the materials were hiding until 2 minutes before I needed them. LOL.

I thought a medium price was $50... whoops
> By price: $15-$30

My items fall more in to the "large" price category at ~$85/ea. (cost of materials). Only 2 of these materials were free, but they are vital for they form the foundation.

... but hey, I don't care if it falls a little out of range (in the "more pricey" spectrum), so long as my partner loves the item!

I was very careful to use my partner's favorite colors in both items.

Finishing touches tomorrow on them, then I'm ready to ship; hopefully I'll be PMng a DC# on Monday! :)

I can't say what my materials are yet, because that will give away the surprise.

Lol, omg natural, you’d give me sever anxiety if I was your partner. I haven’t even started.

I do have two ideas but I’m going to search my stash and see what I already have before I decide. And of course, I got to get home from spring break to actually access my stash :D

Title: Re: Easy Peasy Swap - sendouts 4/7
Post by: Yarn or Fabric on March 22, 2008 04:45:22 AM
gothicmidnight I am so happy you settled on a project!
syrlig - I am sure by the end of the weekend we might have a few more senders.

Remember crafters - make sure you use your delivery confirmation numbers - if you don't know what they are, please ask a buddy :D
If you ship using an online service - paypal even has a way that you can ship - and you get the delivery confirmation for under a quarter - and you can ship using first class and whatnot as well.. yes, my latest discovery  and I love it!
oh my train of thought left me - I am soooo sick and congested that I am not clearly thinking I think! Anyhoo - you can use an online service for shipping if you have that access and save a bit of mulah on the cost of the delivery confirmation number...

When you ship please pm me and your partner with your shipping information.
If you are in the US you MUST use a delivery confirmation number.  It will be notated on your feedback if you do not.

If you are outside the US hold on to your receipt.

Above all take pictures of what you are sending out - you never know if your partner goes to sea world, sits in the front row and Shamu completely drenches her camera rendering it a paperweight....
or if a customs or postal worker decides that cool zippered pouch would look better in her home than yours....

Have fun with it - and remember this is a limited time swap - you only have until 4/7 to get it all together and out the door.  It should only be a medium item - whether it is a set of small things to make up a medium or just one medium item by itself.

oh one last thing..
When you receive..
please pm your partner and your organizer (ah, that's me) when you have your loot in hand.
I need to hear from you that you have it.
Then post pictures in the gallery - the link was set up the day I started the swap so please use it.
Swaps are a high anxiety thing. We all put our heart and soul in to our projects and when our babies leave the nest we hope that they find a loving home - so please post up pictures as soon as you can to relieve the stress!!!

Do not spoil your partner - there are other swaps for that!!!!

I'm waiting to hear back from my partner, but I do have a vague idea of what to make her. Too bad it's Easter and every single store in the universe is closed. Hopefully I can go buy yarn on Tuesday.

I want to get started too, but I'm stuck at work :'( Also don't think I'll make it to the fabric store in time ... going to have to wait until Tuesday to get started now!

If you are in the US you MUST use a delivery confirmation number.  It will be notated on your feedback if you do not.

What if you're in the US and shipping to someone outside the US?

(I know the answer - keep your receipt.  I'm just being all nitpicky.  :P )

LOL I hope I don't give people anxiety!

Yeah, I am Speedy Gonzales, very fast! My main problem is meeting the time requirements in these swaps... I can meet the cost usually by picking up one component/item, but the time thing always has me. I can never make the craft last long enough. LOL.

My partner requested items where I had everything ready to roll; all we had to do was choose the type of item and the color scheme. Once that was done, I had to think of what she said she liked; once I figured that out, I chose the designs and got right to work.

Stayed up late and knocked one out completely and got the other one like 85% done. Finished that one up about 10 min. ago. You only live once... :)

I have finished the items and they will ship hopefully Monday.

- Ondelay, ondelay! A reeeeba! ****

I would have been shipping out to straw_holder had I not come down with a miserable cold.  I feel like I am stuffed full of wet cotton balls - probably look about the same too!  I was planning on having a wonderful day of sewing - and was going to go to my sewing group tonight - but nooooo!  had to come down with the funk.

It's all good.  I just woke up from a nap - David took the kids to MickyD's for the playland and a good unhealthy dose of chicken nuggets... but I got a 3 hour nap! I'd love to say that I feel like a new woman after my rest but alas I can not....

So yeah, I would have been done with straw_holder's had I not been funkified!

Lol, I feel so behind, although now I've settled on an idea I have some of the stuff at home so I can make a start on it tonight/tomorrow :)

Title: Re: Easy Peasy Swap - sendouts 4/7

Well if it makes anyone feel better, it took me longer to make 2 sets of cat toys (14 toys total) then it took me to make the items for this swap...
All things are relative! No hand-knitting was needed for this swap but the cat toys required it, plus some other stuff. :).
Nobody is behind (everyone is equal).
Get well soon, craftydeb!

I can't believe how far along people are! I have to keep telling myself not to worry that I'm away from my supplies and can't begin until tomorrow

Title: Re: Easy Peasy Swap - sendouts 4/7

Some people have the stash ya know?  Normally I would be all over the weekend crafting but yeah. not this weekend. Just wasn't happening!
It's when I don't have something that fits my partner's tastes that I have to go and search it out - but if you got the supplies, this is only a medium swap - could be done in a day - well, technically just a few hours ;) or if your supplies cost fit the category then it could be done sooner - or stretched out longer... just need to fit in that category..

to answer the question about US shipping out of country - yeah, save your receipt but there is *usually* a goodie on your receipt - the customs number - it isn't as good as a delivery confirmation number but normally you can see at least when it crosses the border and possibly when it is delivered and whatnot - depends on who is in the mood for updating the system I suppose... but that's the ticket there - the customs code.

Happy easter all - don't eat too many colored hard boiled eggs (eiw.  I really have no idea what to do with those things every year.  I wish I could like egg salad but I just can't get in to it - and deviled eggs - let's just not go there.  I just can't do them either..... ah well. All good in the end.. I think I will unload at least a dozen on my inlaws...... )

Post by: TheCraftyCat on March 22, 2008 06:45:20 PM
Hmm, I've shipped internationally before and I've never noticed a customs number on the receipt... The annoying thing about shipping internationally is that I can't use the automated postal center.  Those things are awesome - I can spend a weekend crafting and send out on Sunday afternoon.

I have my supplies.  I like to craft during my commute, so I'll probably start on Monday.  (I take a commuter rail.  No crafting behind the wheel for me.  :P )

Wow, so quick.  I thought I was quick with about half done.  It's definitely going to take me a bit longer than usual because I'm making it up as I go along.  Hopefully that doesn't give away too much.   :)

I went supply shopping for a couple of my swaps yesterday, and I'd love to craft all day...too bad there's a little thing called school and the mountain of reading that I need to do  >:(

But then again...maybe I'll read between coats of paint  ;D

I've thought about what I am going to make - does that count?  I don't want to craft when I am so full up of germs - sure it is probably aokay but man the thought of how snotty I am is just a dreadful concept....

All in good time, aye?

I would give your partners a bit of time - it is a holiday weekend for most people so don't panic if you haven't heard from your partner yet!
I am tickled so many are going to be sending out!

That reminds me - Half of you are going to  be reporting in to QuiltersBlock when you send and receive...
I will post the who is reporting to who on page one in a bit.  I need to go lay down..

Oh, poor deb!  No fun to be sick, especially over the holiday weekend.

We would love to be outside today too, but alas the huz is still freshly surgeried and can't move around much.  I guess I'll have to settle for crafting in my living room with a view of my new balcony garden.

I've got Stick's item started and will be starting to assemble soon. I'm so excited that I decided to get over my swap anxiety and just go for it!  Stick, I know you're gonna love this :)

I'm on the mend.. I think by Tuesday I will be completely up and running again.  I fell loads better already - I think just getting out of the house and hitting Walmart (and a second hand store that I can't believe was even open today  :o) really did me some good... tomorrow I will do a few errands and get some more fresh air.. so I'm thinking by Tuesday I should be feeling pretty good... just in time for it to get rainy again... I have a pretty clear picture of the finished product in my mind.  For me, it's just a matter of patience (or lack there of).  I get so anxious when I don't have all the things I need for a project on hand and right in front of me when I start.  I wasn't able to pull from my stash for this one, so I hope the item I ordered gets here in time.  I really want it to turn out great.  I hope you will like what I'm making for you too.

You needn't fear that I'm giving away the surprise. Astica's questionnaire was very specifically focused on one item and I plan to deliver.

I just got back from the yarn store! I bought some 100% wool in a beautiful heathred colour. It's kind of thick - I hope it's not too warm for the Netherlands! (The fact it's freezing and there's a foot of snow on our back yard might be impairing my judgement a bit. :P )

I have no idea when I'll be finished, but I won't be able to send before next Tuesday at the earliest. (I sort of blew all my money on the yarn, I'll have to wait until my next allowance to ship. )

I made 5 little things to make the Medium as they were Easy Peasy to make, and came within budget and timescale, but only taken teaser pics of 3 of the things for geek_goddess

Wow! The pictures are great! Can't wait to see the item!!

on my end...I've got it narrowed down to one of two options....waiting for reply from partner before making final decision. I'll probably make both things, then have to decide which one to send!

Ooh, those pictures look great! I'm excited.
Your item will be sent out in the next few days, I'm just held up waiting on a trip to a store which is closed during my off-work hours.

Lovely teaser pics, Kittyvanghoul! I'm excited to see what they turn out to be.

I'm halfway done with my item! 7mm needles are magic. (Especially after knitting a sweater on 3mm's.)

(Also, parenthetically, OMG. QuiltersBlock, you're a Torchwood fan as well? Yay!)

Truth be told, I'd probably do that as well. (Then again, I queued up for the last Harry Potter book twice, so maybe it's not much of a shock.)

I'm big on doctor who, but haven't had a chance to watch torchwood yet...
But why does David Tennant have to be so *old*?
(well, at least old for a teenager like me  ::) ) I thought he was 10 years younger than he is! XD

I know there was a Doctor Who & Related Shows-type swap. Not sure if there has been a pure Torchwood one though.

I'm part-way through making my medium, but needed to pause as I found out today that there's about a 90% chance that the clothing I sell will be in our school's fashion show (whoot!) and I only have about 8 or 9 days to finish making my stuff now Oo
They really left things last minute  ::)

But I am soo looking forward to finishing this <3

I am so happy you guys are having fun with this round.  I really wanted an easy painless swap and the weekend ones always were a great way to go with the smaller sized item you had to come up with - but I can never seem to get a weekend to craft when they are available - so I thought, hey, one medium item, a few weeks to produce it in to try to make a less stress swap.

There will definitely be another round of it..
Hopefully someone will want patches since I'm having fun making them - I just posted up pics in the machine embroidery board of my first one - I now know what I need to do to improve it and get it right - I can't wait to give it a go again - maybe today but probably tomorrow..

I'm nearly done (seriously, 12 stitches and _______ left), but I've got a horrible twinge in my wrist.  :( Oh well. I had to study anyway, and there's lots of time left. (I have five kind of important exams next week. Oh joy.)

I'll probably finish today, give the _______ a slight blocking tomorrow and take pictures on Friday. I love the _______ on the _______ more than is probably healthy; I might write up the pattern later, if my partner doesn't mind.

In other news, there was a big honking snowstorm today. What's this spring you're talking about?  ;)

although I would love to see some snow... we took pictures of our last big bad snowstorm - yeah, it was a dusting!

I was just assigned 3 more stuffies for work to do  :o

Tomorrow and Friday, it's supposed to rain, mixing here and there with snow.  It still gets below freezing almost every night.  Friday's forecast high is 38!  :( :( :(  Swimsuit season is a distant dream... but on the up side, it gives me more time to get into shape so that I actually look good in a swimsuit ;)

Dude, we're lucky if we have those sorts of temperatures in June.

Here's our street this morning. Pretty much all the snow came during the night, and it snowed all day as well.

Soooo pretty!
You would laugh at our big bad snowstorm picture - we were hoping to get a few inches just so we could make ONE snowball out of all the snow on the grass but nope... once again we were cheated and only got a dusting!

I am going to start working on my projects for this swap tomorrow probably - I conferred with a friend of mine who is a yarn genius and she got me nailed down on the right yarn for one of my projects.  The other one I forgot to buy more heat and bond when I was out so that will be done probably over the weekend.  All good...

I guess there is no secret on what I'm making - at least to the recipients. ;D

You could always write a note and tape the envelop to the box ;)

I have been busy working on work projects this week - I am bout 1/3 done with my first of 9 that need to be completed... It has taken me two days of crocheting but at least the body is done and I am starting on a foot... I don't see me getting this guy done by the time I go to bed but one can still be hopeful right?

I am hoping to do some serious crafting on Sunday when hubby is out playing D&D all day... and as long as the kids play nicely together of course.  It's great that they are getting to be old enough to play together and not be under constant supervision!

And while it runs beautifuly and I can finaly get on the net he hasn't bothered to load any of my saved art or editing programs from the last one. This means I'm a little stuck on all my projects for swaps. No worries. I haven't even started yet.

I'm about halfway done, but I won't get to work on it over the weekend, so hopefully I'll be sending mid- next week :)  It's cute though!

Just dropped mine off! It was fun, I had to run some errands in my home town, so I went to my old home town post office.  ;D I used to have a PO Box there back in the day, and they still remember how I used to get a package every other day or so! (I've always been into swapping, and I tend to order things on line often... I drove the mail-people at my dorm crazy when I lived there!) It was nice to see everyone again.  :D I'll be PMing my DC # to who needs it after I check the rest of my bookmarks!

Just about a week before send outs!  I know everyone is busy crafting - or contemplating - or shopping - or packing :D

Remember - when you send - pm your partner and QuiltersBlock - when you receive pm me and your partner and please post pics in the gallery - action shots are a wonderful thing!

I wish I could have spent my Sunday sewing!

Instead, I organized a charity event at my salon, as well as the second salon my boss owns up the street from us, where we cut hair all day for the Elizabeth Glacer Pediatric AIDS Foundation.  We cut kids' hair all day, a few adults too, and are donating 100% of the proceeds to the foundation.  The other company I work for, Matrix, sponsored the event, so it worked out pretty easy that I would be setting up the whole thing.  I'm just tired now, and looking forward to some crafting time.

I have to work tomorrow too, then Tuesday I'll probably be finishing up.  Maybe tomorrow I'll have a chance to nab a few teaser photos finally :)

that's pretty normal - changing your mind - sometimes things don't work out or you can't find *it* in the store and end up going in a different route - that is part of the creativity process though!

I am sewing tomorrow and hopefully a bit on Friday - unless I am digging up the grass for my new garden plot - which I am soooooo excited about getting!  It is being rototilled this weekend whooo hooo!  Just in the nick of time - I should  be planting here in just about 3 weeks so I am looking forward to getting the dirt turned..

but I should be shipping out right on time.  I have been finally catching up to myself and pacing myself just right....

If you feel as if you are going to be late - please communicate that with me and your partner - I would rather someone send late than send something rushed or not send at all!

I am having swap anxiety! My partner pm'd me with a teaser to not look at her website (she does fantastic art work, you should check it out -- just don't tell me anything!). Do you have any idea how difficult that can be?! That's a serious tease!

But now I'm a mess because I've been flipping back and forth about what to craft for her...this one or that one....that one or this one.... it's a little out of my crafty zone anyway, but now, knowing she's done and all....gah!!

QB, signing off to just get crafting already!  :D

LOL it's not that it's changing because it's not working out.  More that I haven't had TIME  because of work stuff (I have a 9-5 job PLUS a direct sales business) to go get the last of the supplies.  I went and got them and changed my mind as I shopped (because who can go into a "supply" store and NOT wander???)  oh yeah, and I think I changed it three times before I even left the store and one more time when I got HOME.

I shouldn't be late though.  ride the line maybe, but it will definitely send out on Monday.  I did some cutting last night and realized that I'll like these enough that I'll have to go back to the store once I'm done to make a set for myself!  :D

More than half of the packages have not been sent out - with only 3 days till send outs. This is a first round (as we all know) and I am thinking that it looks like the send out date needs to be pushed back a week to 4/14.

I would rather extend it and give the majority of the crafters some peace of mind than to have any work rushed.

Of course the sooner you send + the sooner your partner receives = the sooner you get feedback  ;)

any feelings about this guys?

I always do my best work at the very end of deadlines. I'm a professional procrastinator. An extra week would help though now that I have a solid idea in mind.

I'm good with the current date. Just need to cut out the ______ and add ______
But I know my partner would appreciate the crafting time as she got a cold on the weekend. And as much as we sometimes hate to admit it, health does come before crafting.

So I don't need the extra time, but I would approve it it, basically

Really try to stick to the one medium sized thing guys - I really want to stress that - having said that if you and your partner agree to more just make sure you get sent out  in time.  I just want to avoid people going nuts and their partners feeling like they didn't do enough - know what I mean?

Thanks for the reasurance Deb <3
I'll for sure throw in one extra thing, but I don't think I'll be all-out-spoiling this time  ;)

Oh, it just looks like a lot.  I wrapped every little thing separate to make it more fun....

Foxlet:  Wrapping things seems to be a new "craft" for me... haha.  I love it!

Now I am a little worried... I promise that my swap fits in the time limit for a medium item (even though there are 4 little packages).  I can't go into more detail or I will ruin the surprise for my partner...  :-\

I have now finished finished....as opposed to the finished I was last night  ::)

The PO is closed, but I *think* they might have one of their 24 hour machines, so I'll try to send it tomorrow morning, but at the latest it'll go out Monday morning.

I even remembered to get pictures before packaging...here's a teaser....

Oh you guys are killing me with all the teasing!
I am loving this trend!!  I have been seeing the teaser pics all over the swap threads lately - loving it!

I am also hoping to send out on Monday - I need to finish up straw_holder's package and then I will be good to go - I'd post a teaser pic but she already knows what she's getting - so it won't be much of a tease except for the rest of you!

I mailed out today  :D
I can't post teaser pics, they would give the item away, but I did send my craft as well as a bonus vintage item for kitty's own crafting fun.

I finished!!! mine was supposed to be a medium, but in the end it took me a lot more of hours to finish... why? because one of my kitties decided to destroy everything completely when I was at 60%. sigh. so I had to start all over again

then I broke my sewing machine's needle and spent another hour searching through my stash for another one. note to self: put some order in that cupboard  ::)

then I cut just a bit too much because the phone startled me and had to make a part again from the very beginning

*dies*

but's finally finished!! and I hope mi partner cataplum will like it  :D

Alllllllmost done. But of course once the knitting's done my item has to be washed and dried carefully to get all the cold virus germs out. Don't want to be accused of waging germ warfare through Canada Post.

Oh! Stinky cheese!
I tell you what - when I put down labels (since I print my own on typing paper) I glue them down with glue stick and then tape them down with clear packing tape as much as I can without covering up the bar codes... I am so paranoid!

I'm glad it came back to you - I think a lot of the lost in transit packages here don't make it  because they aren't packed up right - It's a relief that it came back to you though - so lucky - although stinky at the same time since the postage is lost...  :'(

I am just pleased it came back!  Wouldn't want my first swap this year to go wrong!

It's my fault for trying to be flash with funky packaging.

Aw, MAN!  I just noticed that the sendout date had changed.  If I wasn't running "late", I would have done a little somethin' extra!

Oh well - I'm hoping that perrywinkle will like it. :) My dyeing went a little awry - I was trying to combine two of her favorite colors (red and yellow!) and it ended up a bit orangey.  Whoops! ;)

I received an AWESOME tote bag from perrywinkle - I can't wait to post photos! :)

Only 5 more days til send outs!
Send outs are on 4/14...!

Remember to pm QuiltersBlock when you send and Craftydeb when you receive!
For US senders - delivery confirmation/customs codes are mandatory.
I know there is a duo that are delivering in person as well - no need for the postal info there - just a confirmation from at least one of you that you did the trade off - hopefully some action shots as well!  Bonus points on the action shots if you go to Grumpys and take pictures of the food :D

I need to get out of the garden long enough to work on my project for Straw_holder.  I will have all day Saturday and we are suppose to get a cold snap that day so I will be forced to come in from the outside!
I have been working in the yard most of this past week - I am putting in a new garden - 30x16.  I am sooo stoked all I can think about is dirt right now!!

It got to 10am and I was going to be late for work, so I had to leave ... only for my mum to call me an hour later saying my parcel from moawk had turned up!!!

I'm going to my boyfriends for dinner tonight, so I won't get to see it until late :(

Stay away from that place and just go tomorrow - I will not fault you at all - save your sanity and time in those long procrastinator lines....

My husband efiled as soon as he could - all done here.. and been done for months fortunately.. I guess it is a tradition with some - wait til the last day and get it done.  Every year I hear about post offices around the country that stay open late and have parties inside - there's one town I remember that they serve road kill chili and have bands and dancing in the post office every tax day.  Makes me wish our post office was more festive - but alas, bigger city life isn't  so friendly some times - okay, I can live without the road kill chili  :D

I received from geek_goddess!!!

The best cloth doll ever with moveable limbs! She is a gorgous kooky gothy doll in my fave colours Hot Pink and Black.

...and she has such cute black lace panties on too hehe

when I openened the package at work, everyone was commented (mostly men) how much she looked like me hehe

I love her geek_goddess and will post pics as soon as I get home.

Yours should be there soon after my little label mishap hehe.

This swap has been brilliant  ;D

She's made from a pattern I drafted myself. Those dolls are such fun to make, I can get seriously carried away with their clothing though and I wanted to keep the swap 'medium' so she is just wearing a simple dress.
Besides, I thought you might have fun using your scraps to make her some clothes  ;)

No worries, I just hope you didn't totally outdo me or something, this is my first swap :)

Shipping things into Canada can be a pain. I buy on eBay frequently and things can take weeks to pass customs.
I bought a divacup from the US, it was clearly and discreetly labeled 'silicon cup' but the package had been opened and taped shut (badly) at least twice in the 4+ weeks it took to make it from the sender to me... it's like they thought it was drug paraphenelia or something.

Seriously I giggled when I thought of the customs inspectors going 'now what the hell is...oh gahd eww!Tape it up, tape it up!'

I wanted to let everyone know that I will not be running another round of this swap - or any other.  I have decided to take a very long break (possibly permanent) from swapping.

If anyone else would like to organize this or any of the other swaps I have begun, please feel free to.  I would love to see them continue on without me :)
