Okay, bargain hunters, I think my swap partner is the QUEEN of all Bargain Hunters!! She should have a freakin crown made of second hand treasures and coupons.

 :o :o :o

I received my package already! I was super surprised that it made it here in only 1 day! Way to go Canada Post!

So here are my pics of the fabulous stash Slingmomma sent to me;

Here's a group shot (I assume you are all quite jealous right now)

Some crafty supplies and stickers for my kids (which will soon be on my walls, I'm sure  ;) )

I LOVE these fat quarters so much!

Cute froggy panels

Fab gift tags!

This pouch is fantastic! and the matching box. In the back is the leftover fabric (which is beautiful.)

And my favorite; this tote that has pockets outside and in and a key latch! (Please disregard my frumpiness. I am in Canada and it is damn cold therefore it is sweatshirt day)

Are you kidding me?!!?!!

I am blown away by this package and now I'm a bit nervous about my package. It will be hard to match all this wonderful stuff! Slingmomma was a great swap partner and if she decides to join another swap, I envy her partner.

 8) You Rock!!

WOW  :o  That is great for a $5 package, I thought it was going to be a $10 one. We bow to Queen Slingmamma  ;)  I love the fabric for the bag and the fat quarters, especially that frog holding an artichoke!

daggum it!  I need to get in that craft room!  I thought I was going but decided to have Logan read to me instead.  I do have the weekend though - and a slew of ideas.  I just need to decide which route to go here.... I have enough to do two swap packages so I need to narrow it down and then move on.

I did score a really pretty piece of material for 50cents today - a half yard.  It is so pretty I don't hardly want to cut in to it but I know I have to sooner or later!

I'm so glad you like everything, mommys little badass :D !!!! It was so much fun to do!!! Oh and as soon as i saw those fat quarters there was something in me that said you would love them!!!

Thanks everyone.... (runs to get crown  ;) lol) this swap was awesome! I warned from the start that i'm insane when it comes to bargains!!! I think that i just may have to join any other rounds of this swap in the future!!!

If you want i can post a breakdown of the costs?!?!

I can't wait to see what everyone else has done!!!  ;D

Yes!  A breakdown!  Please!  We really do want to know the details!
There will definitely be future rounds of this swap.  It is my favorite one of all the swaps I have been in so far.  I have not looked on the calendar yet to figure out the future date - but it is definitely coming!

Okay so here it is the breakdown of what i spent!!!  :)

a: the bag of crafty supplies $1 at value village
b: paint brushes $0.40 at Michaels, the stickers were free from some stupid Columbia house junk mail thing!
c: the fat quarters came all together at value village for $1.99!
d: the frog panels were free from my mom, bought a ton of these panels and had no idea what to do with them!
e: the paper for the gift tags was $0.33!
f: the little box was $0.75 at Michaels i used paint from my stash maybe a dime size amount so i thought that was okay!
g: the bag and little wallet were made from fabric i got from value village for $0.70  :o !!! (which she got the rest of) can you believe that, i couldn't!! The black fabric is from my stash, and the strap accessories and key hook were free i think from an old bag from my mom!

There you go!!! I love bargains like you wouldn't believe, maybe i will take a pic of the rest of the stuff i got at value village for myself and post them!!!!

way awesome package there.

those froggie prints are sweet.

Hubby and I rearranged the craft room, it is just part of a bigger open planned room so now we moved the cupboard so it is a clearly defined room, just rocks but I had to de stash loads, put it on freecycle..... still have a little bit to go then I will post photos on my blog.

I got my package from CKChan! We did $10 packages. She made me a bunch of wonderful goodies off my Wist, and a bunch of other things too.

I opened my box to this...

She made me a happy amigurumi octopus, who shall be called Squishy (and he shall be mine).

I also got these arm warmers that I've wanted soooo bad forever (I don't knit, but I've been trying to learn). Here's the action shot:

Also, I got one of these awesome star blankets.

And some earrings...

Finally, these AWESOME stitch markers with Nintendo themed pictures on them (I love the little question mark box one).

CkChan managed to do a ton on $10. Thanks for everything!

Give me a breakdown (add that to the beginning of a rap song and it might sound cooler than it is!)

I am dying to see how much everything cost - and you truly got completely spoiled with all that yarn work! ckchan you must have been working on that for weeks!  Fantastic job!

Give me a breakdown (add that to the beginning of a rap song and it might sound cooler than it is!)

Lol! I think if it were in a rap song it would be "Break it down." And then MC Hammer would be dancing around in giant pants.

Or the song could go something like this:

Ya see I got this &*#%^!#' yarn for under one buck!
And then I stuck it with a hook cuz I don't give a &*#%^!

Okay. Please forgive me. I am whacked out on allergy medication. I hate pollen!

dah nah nah-nah can't touch this.....

wayo wayo wayo can't touch this..
wayo wayo wayo make me itch..

scored some cool stuff today at the book store... but not for this swap - I am swimming in stuff I need to weed through for my partner... Sewknitter is going to make out good for the make a friend swap.

Oh and I totally scored a book on things to make from jeans.  It is from the 70's from the looks of it.  I am going to stow that baby away for future reference!

Nothing like a denim bikini - oh yeah, that's in there too!

Crafting for oohmybees was lots of fun. She made it easy for me by answering all my tons of questions.

I have a couple pics of the things I made her that show the details a bit more:

These are the card holder thingies:

They are fimo squares with beads pressed into them and a slot cut into the top.

The machine embroidery I did on a little bag:

It is my symbolic interpretation of the tarot's Empress.

And the peacock t-shirt really turned out awesome. Here's a pic that shows the placement a little better:

This was such a fun swap. I'm so glad I got to be her partner!

So I received my package from ollieorange today, and as she promised it is full of creepy (and crafty) goodness. I was so excited that I took an over abundance of pictures, so please bear with me.

Here is the overall package:

And here are some close up shots:
A mirror that has been decoupaged with pages from a children's scientific book (i think)

Close up of the flying squirrel goodness- Wheeee!!!!:

A black velvet painting kit (and I now have the song Black Velvet by Alannah Myles stuck in my head)

wind up sushi!

Handmade needle book with awesome zebra striped felt
Outside

Inside

Now you may be saying "Well that really isn't all THAT creepy. Where is the creepy this crazy lady keeps promising" You may have noticed a doll head in the first picture- if that wasn't creepy enough, wait till you see what ollieorange did to it.

She turned it into a pin cushion that looks like the doll's brains!!! I really love this. Seriously.

Ollieorange also gave me an awesome sewing book that will be useful as I attempt to learn how to sew.

Thanks ollieorange!!! you did a super job!

that truly is creepy!
I had bought a bag of mystery goods from Thrift Mart and it had some zippers, a wooden round basket and of all things creepy plastic doll head and arms and legs - I took out the creepy doll parts out of the bag and told them they could keep them... they give me the heebies.  In hind sight I should have kept them for some kind of creepy goodness like that but dang they just creep me out!

wow - that is some seriously great loot - I love the nesting dolls - I have a fondness for them and scored a few sets of them at Value Village in one of those weird bag lots they are famous for.  I felt like I was robbing them when I left with that bag of loot!
Awesome shopping skills there - not to mention crafting skills.

Have I said recently how much I adore this swap???

WOW! That frog and those dolls are seriously adorable. Must get (buy/steal/make) some for my tyke -- okay, for me, so what.

Fab package Slingmomma...mommyslittlebadass did a terrific job! I love how she fulfilled her $5 obligation!!  :D

I just left the house, wearing my pajamas, got in my car and tracked down the mailman.  Dang dude did not pick up my package!!!  grrrr.  It is gone now though - safe and sound.  He *claims* that he did not get the pickup call... well that explains why it was left.  I just think he was pulling a Newman on me and just not wanting to do his job...  :D

Okay. That was my fun for the day.  I think I am officially awake now after that blood pumping chase through the neighborhood.
 ;D

I am totally LMAO at the image of pajama-clad you dashing through the streets to track down the mailman! Please tell me you're wearing curlers in your hair and foofy slippers on your feet! (because you are in my imagination -- wait....that doesn't sound good, does it?.... :D)

No curlers this time around - I did have slippers on but I changed them to my slip on shoes because I had to actually get in the car to track down the mailman. He was gone faster than I could get across the house...
I did have my jammies on though.

I'm so relieved that you like everything! I was nervous.

Here are some of my pics of the stuff. Starting with my materials

A sock doggy (my first attempt)

Monkey, Frog, Notebook

The "ladies" (I almost kept these for myself  ;) )

Pincushion made with a great corelle cup

Group shot

That zipper pouch in the back was a last minute thing and it turned out pretty good!

I had a great time on this swap. Thanks guys!!  ;D

mommys little badass you have just won the invisible prize for coolest gallery posting with budget included.  What a great way to show off the cost of your loot!!

That corelle cup - that green pattern is the same one my mother had when I was growing up. When I moved out on my own she sent me the gold pattern as a start up and I tell you what I could not wait to get rid of them!  I do have a corelle set but they are the restaurant ones - they are really pretty.  I fell in love with them when I saw them and have had them for years now... although I did have to buy regular bowls since they came with those flat bowls that are great for chili but terrible for cereal... next I will be getting a set of the saucers - which are perfect for like a slice of cake...

okay.
now I am hungry. between talking about different plates and food and being on fairly high doses of steroids. mmm.  time for a snack.

Here are some detail shots of what I sent to ollieorange:

Corkscrew Creepies

Nature calendar envelopes

Stickers I got for free from work. I think they are very cute  :D

And finally the storage box I decoupaged with images from cheesy zombie movies (my favorite was for the Killer Mutant Zombie Garden Gnomes from Outer Space). Mmmmm.... Brains....

This was such a fun swap!!! I love seeing what everyone can make with a budget of only $5/$10.

UntouchableFace - That zombie box is fantastic!

CraftyDeb - I am such a sucker for odd cups and mugs. I have a huge collection of seventies mugs that will soon be turned into pincushions for craftshows this spring.

I think taking a picture of the starting items is a cool way to show how the items started. But I guess it only works if you bought it all at once or something.

That is the best part of it!
The three sweaters ($1.50) became all that yarn...

How awesome is that?

Yeah, I'm sure the post Lady thought I was crazy when she walked up I was almost in tears then when I realized what she had I was doing the happy dance.  My Mom and Hubby just watched and shook their heads...

Oh my god - she went waaaaaaay above the call of duty and created you recycled yarn?  Oh my god that is just awesome!  I knew she was amazing but dang!  That is really really amazing!
I have yet to do that.  I keep saying I will - I bought a nice soft chenille sweater I have been meaning to frog up.

They look so nicely wound.  Mine would like like mad balls of lumpy yarn ;D

Yay for great swaps!!

I'm glad it made you smile after that day. I thought you would enjoy that jacket more if I left it alone. It has so many possibilities & I'm not the greatest seamstress. FYI I ran it thru the washing machine twice (my cat wouldn't stay off it) so you can machine wash the leather cuff & it won't hurt it.

all I can say is yarn ball winder.....invest in one if you want to start recycling

Title: Re: Bargain Hunter Swap Round 4
Post by: Yarn or Fabric on February 22, 2008 04:59:26 PM
did you take a pic of those sweaters beforehand?  those colors are just fabulous - I was so in to wanting to try the recycled yarn and now you have me all ready to do it again.... hmmm.  I am planning on going to the second hand store on Sunday possibly... hmmmm

ball winder - I really should get one.  In my line of work I do A LOT of frogging.  In fact I have an entire baby blanket to frog and start over.  Literally the entire thing.  I hated the color of it and hate to waste all that yarn so it will be tossed aside until I get to frogging it....

*Now* you say this?!?!  :o  :D  I *think* I have two of them.....I don't knit and I don't know what they are, but someone mentioned they were for winding yarn....crud. one might even have fit into the box.... :'(

Oh.  I do believe you and I could definitely be set up again in a future swap.  I had far too much fun in this one for you and had far too many ideas of things I wanted to make you!  I needed to be held back that's for sure!  I had huge plans of making edited to remove things that were not made so to add more confusion until your package arrives...   ;D
Born a tease, always a tease. What can I say?
Okay, knowing that you know a bit more about me than others might you are probably really laughing right about now!

Maybe next round I'll take on two partners - you and a second person for variety.

I am still debating when to start round 5. This truly is my absolute favorite swap!

nope sorry. The white one was a plain abercrombie hoodie with zipper(It was kinda fun to destroy something from an anti-fat company). the other 2 were just basic knit ones with a rolled collar & one w/o

I must say, I am SUPER impressed by all the amazing bargain hunted packages! (Especially the $5 ones - there weren't too many in previous rounds, so I'm totally blown away by what everyone can do with $5).

Speking of which, here's my amazing package from honeyfresh (prepair to be jealous  ;) )

A super fantastic amazing beautiful painting (there really aren't enough adjectives to describe it I'm afraid. But if fits the colour scheme of my room perfectly too!) It's brighter in real life ^^

I also got:

A sketchbook/notebook in an awesome felt-y cover (the grey one), a green pouch-thing with awesome stitches, a belt (which is very tempting to decorate :D but then again, it's good to have some plain-ish belts), and the card that she wrote in. But it has an awesome front - which was handmade from someone else (I'm guessing a friend? maybe not)

Plus she's really sweet in person ^^

canvas $2.00
green felt $0.46
embroidery floss $0.30
grey felt: $0.75
notebook: $2.00
Strainer & Button - free!
Paint - stash!

Total: $5.51  ;D

Thank-you!!

I am so excited that your package is waiting for you!!  I am also so incredibly nervous - I worry so much with my little babies to see how they are received..
At least you will have fun at lunch time when you get to open it up!

tibeydo - I am definitely going to get another round started up for signups sometime in March.  I need to look at my calendar but I am thinking at this point signups from sometime next week (as soon as everyone's packages are on their way) and have the signups run til about mid March then have crafting go until about April 14th possibly.

It's funny though - the two people that are late are sending to each other.
And I understand that life is life.  I have been on the same spot having to ship out late -  but I still think it's ironic that my late senders are partners!
I would let you in again - as long as you send in the end which I know you will!  ;)

tibedyo - I know what you mean about stockpiling thrifted or discounted treasures.  I have begun to do so as well.  I have a box in my craft disaster zone that is for craftster swaps.  I leave price tags or write the price on them and where I got them from now!  I am especially waiting for a pirate loving partner :D  boy I could totally hook up a pirate loving partner!!

i know! i thought it was funny that we're both sending late. its not like she sent early and i'm way behind or anything. we're totally on the same page which makes it not quite so bad. we're both really embarrassed though that we're taking so long to send out.

as for the pirate lover, i have a friend thats on craftster that LOVES pirates! she's never done a swap on here before, only on ravelry, but i may have to mention this swap and see if i can get her to join  ;)

Oh. My. Gawd. I just picked up the package from craftydeb...I'm speechless! What a wonderful package!! My tyke's not here yet, so no action shots until later, but WOW! She totally nailed it on so many levels: bargains, personality, and especially the projects. Did I mention what a great package she has ;) ?!  :D

I was giggling at the post office and wanted to just rip it open there...but I managed to make it home before carefully opening the package...okay, only because it was taped so well that I needed the kitchen shears!

Now that I'm writing this out, I'm wishing I'd taken pictures of the layers in the box instead of removing items and then taking pictures.  ::)

First up, a tiara-to-be! The embroiderd star - craftydeb gave detailed instructions about how to attach it to a headband so I can wear it proudly! It totally reminds me of wonderwoman! yowza!

Then: freecycle fabric for my uglytotes! I make grocery/book totes out of sad, unfortunate fabric that would otherwise be clogging the landfill - usefull from useless. There's enough here for at least eight bags!! There's also a *huge* bag full of ribbons and lace. Huge. Full of stuff.

Lots of loot for my tyke, too!

There are empty spice jars and an oj bottle for my tyke's kitchen! She will go bonkers over this stuff! Oh, I almost forgot: there are seeds in one of the jars!! We are so going to have some gorgeous plants!

And a book full of train stickers! Plus, as you can see, the cutest little appliqued train on a t-shirt for L!! (action shots soon) It is so flipping cute! The weather here is totally dreary today, so there's no way to get a good picture yet, but this is so *cute*!

Then, the piece de resistance (pardon my (poor) french)! This book is just so unbelievable! It' a fabric book with a super cute train theme! Here are all the pages:

You cannot believe how cute and colorful this is. It's just too cute! L is so into trains -- she will be beside herself. I cannot wait for her to see this!

My poor photography "skills" in no way do justice to the awesome work! Thank you craftydeb!

QB, receiver of *the* *best* swap package *ever*

I simply cannot get that book picture to flip. gah.

I was soooo worried that the book would be under her!

Don't forget there are seeds and seedlings inside those jars - go plant those seedlings before they dry up!!!!
the seeds of course wait til after last frost!

Whew!
Relief!!
Here are the totals..
ugly fabric - free from freecycle
bag of lace - 99cents from Value Village
denim - 50cents
batting 50cents from Hancocks - 40% off sale!
sticker book - $1 - dollar store
tshirt - $1 dollar store
thread - $1
jars - was going to go to the recycling bin
seeds - purple hyancinth bean seeds from my yard
Leaf of Life babies - free from my bathroom!
tiara piece - left over from a trial sew out from Collin's birthday party last year ;D It was going to get trashed and I am so glad I saved it now!

The machine embroidery designs I used on the book were freebies from Stitchitcheap.com for anyone that machine embroiders... they are in the embchatnfreebies.yahoogroup
I am thinking of entering the pics I took in their current contest... the theme is spring so I am going to call it a spring train book and see if I can get away with that stretch!

You totally should! The book is so much cuter than my gacky photos show. They'd be a huge hit!

oh, and I haven't forgotten the seeds/seedlings...they are safely set on our countertop until the resident green(er) thumb (my hubby) gets home. He'll be so stoked! He's got containers ready for other seeds, so these will be planted/started indoors tonight.

I got my package in from QuiltersBlock today - and she really did a bang up job with this package!  I dont' have pictures yet but I have to rub it in a bit...
I got some seriously cool loot!  She made my boys each a duffle bag for going to grandma's house - I will get action shots - Collin's eyes went HUGE when he saw his!  Logan hasn't been feeling too hot and didn't even get to see his yet but it is sooo him - green!  She also sent me a journal which will come in handy - I go through lined books fairly regularly with my designing - and it sure is nice to design in style!

Apparently QB thinks I will be good at needle tatting and sent me a slew of books, thread and all the goodies to go with it - plus a learn to needle tat book in there - I am not sure if she went through that goody bag or not but it even has a package of notecards in there with envelops and a tatting pattern in each one!
Things for the boys.. things for me and a great big D for me to put on my craft room door - which is very appropriate!
oh and a ring kit for making a beaded crocheted ring.. and a mug for me to hold some tools in and marbles just in case I lost mine ;D and a checkbook cover that was suggested I could use it for receipts - funny thing was I looked at it and said hey, this would be awesome to hold receipts in my purse - and it really is perfect.
okay. now I am just gushing on.  dang sunlight went away and I know better.  My camera takes lousey pictures after dark. It's a fact
There's more to list too - right down to a cutting mat and tote for me!!
I can't wait to take pics first thing in the a.m. and get some uploaded!  I think it's awesome that her and I got our packages on the same day!!

They came in a box decorated with one of my favorite things, dragonflies:

And everything inside was wrapped in tissue decorated with dragonflies, too! It was very special and pretty:

She made me feel like a super model because she sent me a ton of clothing all tailored to me and my loves. She made t-shirts, a shrug, and a gorgeous dressy tank top.

Get ready to see "Crafter's Next Top Model!"  ;)

This babydoll tee has dragonflies above the little pockets:

(after this photo my camera died so the rest of the photoshoot is indoors at night. The lighting is not so good, but I did my best to take decent pics!)

And it has a colorful dragonfly on the chest. I love the decorations, the buttons, and the style. It fits me perfectly!

I love sea creatures and the octopus on this next little number is really special. This shirt is sooooo cool!

(I didn't even know it was a re-con until I read her letter. My jaw dropped!)

Awsome, right?

You won't even believe this next piece was handsewn. It is hard to do it justice with words so check it out for yourselves:

You can see the shaping even when it is just hanging there. It has a keyhole type opening in the front that I couldn't quite capture, but it is there and it really adds that special little something.

The material is breathtaking. A royal blue oriental brocade with a flower motif. So beautiful:

It feels like a million bucks when I put it on:

I have a really hard figure to fit and this shirt is truly impressive because it somehow camouflages my huge bosom.  It fits me that great!

She also made me a velvet shrug. Luxury!

It's a deep midnight blue that really goes well with the brocade. Mmm...perfect.

Here's the back of it:

(Yes, that's a pair of circular needles holding up my hair hehe)

And she even spoiled me more by sending me the leftover fabrics she didn't use and the pattern for the tank top. Hmmmm.....
Anxious model?
or Psycho model?
I couldn't decide. They're both such fierce shots!

Thank you, K!
You really, really, blew me away. I'm so glad we were partners!

I can't believe she was able to do all this for under ten dollars, but here's the proof:

Black t-shirt: $1
Green t-shirt: $1
Grey t-shirt: $2
Blue velvet dress: $1
New Look Pattern: .10
Oriental Brocade: 4.75
Total: $9.85

Stash
Zipper
Interfacing
I-hook & eye
Thread
Fabric paint
Elastic
Freezer paper

Here's a few pics of the loot I got from Quiltersblock.. it really is a great package and I am sure the pictures are so not going to do it any justice!

This is the main part of the package.. bags bags and more bags!

That's Collin checking out his dino one.  His eyes got huge when he saw how much loot he can put in there next time he goes to grandma's house - which will be in about 2 weeks!

Logan left for school already so no action shots for him = his bag is the green one - it is just perfect!
The other bag is mine ;) Oh and the journal! Can't forget the journal!

And needle tatting loot -

There are oodles of patterns and needles and the thread all sorts of stuff.

And more loot on top of all that other loot!

Here's the breakdown...
journal thrift store - .75
papers - yard sale .10
wood D - .25 thrift store
tatting kit thrift store - .75
receipt holder Hobby Lobby - .20
vinatge button - thrift store .05
pencil holder (mug) - .50
dino fabric - Joanns 1.33
cord fabric - Craigs list - $1
decor fabric - auction box - .10

free stuff... ring kit
marbles
mini cutting mat
black fabric for straps - scraps
number fabric - scraps
dino and frog puzzle - friend was going to toss them! What was she thinking??
plastic weird toys (okay they are actually throwing star thingies with suction cups on the edges. The kids are going to love those!)

Jealous?  I would be if I didn't get it myself!  It was a great package for me!
 ;D

I received today from CrochetAdikt, and I adore everything she sent!  She didn't include a price list, so hopefully she'll post one sometime.

Here's what I got:

She made these wonderful doilies, bookmark, earrings, etc.  Aren't they beautiful?

Fabric scraps that will go on my pink quilt...

A crochet hook case and homemade hot chocolate mix (I think...haven't tasted it yet but it smells AWESOME!)

All sorts of supplies so I can learn to crochet.  The yarn is beautiful colors, and she sent a bunch of patterns.

Last, but not least, she sent me a little surprise.  This made me laugh so hard because I can SO see something like this ending up in a box that I mail out.  When you have kids, stuff like this happens... :D

Thanks again, Rachel, for a great swap.  You were such a fun partner!

OMG!!! LMAO! just thought i'd let you know, that pretzel was from my daughters stash! we've been teaching her how to share so i think she just wanted to be extra generous lol

at first i couldn't see one of the crochet hooks i gave you, it blends in so well but i see it now peeking out! i thought i had forgotten to include it at first.

ok so here's the breakdown of costs:

dowels 2/$1
wood block 1.00
crochet hook 1.19
crochet hook 76c
crochet hook book 1.00 (made from halves of two fat quaters from another swap)
crochet instruction book 1.75
thread 1.74
sewing pattern 1.00
wool ease thick and quick patterns 50c
crochet patterns: free!
yarn: free from fill a box supply swap

TOTAL 9.94

from stash: mod podge, papers to decorate, beads, starch, readers digest (i like em, thought you might...), fabric scraps, homemade hot choc mix (i usually add about 4 TBsp, but try out 3 and see how chocolately it is first. i like mine extra chocolatey!!) oh and a crochet hook that was a duplicate in my stash because my b/fs best friend is too stupid and lazy to look in his couch cushions after i hung out there and asked him to look there for it so i went out and bought a new one and the next time my b/f went over there, he found it right away!!! aye boys

BTW craftydeb....anything look familiar in straw_holders package to you??

oh and the block of wood with dowels is supposed to be a thread holder, once its all put together.

also that thing that looks strangely like an octopus is actually a snowflake...i don't think there's enough starch in it so you may have to starch it a little extra...

Yeah - I was going to comment about that penguin!  How funny!  I am glad to see him making his way around the world - I do wish they took a better picture of him though!!  Don't make him first whatever you do!  He is a bit more advanced! ;D

For those that don't know - that penguin is one of my designs!  (okay, everyone probably knows that since I don't keep it a secret that I design anymore!)

What a great package!  I really have enjoyed this round.
I keep looking at the calendar wondering when I should start up round 5!  Any suggestions?

Myself, my 2 daughters and my son have received an incredible package from Mimik, it was just like christmas here yesterday when I got home from work, paper was flying everywhere! Since it was the evening the lighting in the pictures wasn't the best, but I wanted to get one before everything was strewn throughout the house!

and with the lid open on the jewelry box

mimi should definately get a prize for bargain hunting! ODD got gel pens and a tin of lip gloss, YDD got Hello Kitty gel pens, I tried to get them from her, but she wasn't giving them up and tatoos, she is proudly sporting the flower one to school today  :D  DS got Cars tatoos, he has lightening on, a Cars dry wipe board and growing things. Now for me I got a lovely jewelry box, lip gloss, mascara, eye shadow, strawberry shortcake ribbon and the birds that YDD claimed as I won't let her get a real one  ::)  Thank you Mimi  :)

Taoj - I'm so glad everyone liked everything.  I actually came in a little under budget but I think if I account for tax, I'm probably right at budget.

Here's my list:
$2.49 Wooden box, Joann's, 40% off
free from stash:  acrylic paint, a handful of sequins and small pic of marilyn monroe
.39 paper lining inside of box
.25 gel pens, lip gloss, sparkle tats, cars tats, cars dry erase, 2 birds, all from Target $1 spot, all 75% off
.25 vintage ribbon - sort of from stash...I got this a while ago - a got a bunch of pieces .25 each at a hospital resale shop.
Lip gloss - Free! After clearance price plus using a coupon for $2.00 off at Walgreens.
Mascara - Free! After clearance price plus using a coupon for $2.00 off at Walgreens
Eye shadow - Free at CVS after coupon!

Grand total $4.88!

Oh, yes, I forgot about the dino growy things - sort of from stash.  I bought a bunch of packets of these for 10 Cents at a thrift shop last year.  So, $4.98 - closer to budget than I thought!

Well, you know, this swap came at the perfect time b/c of all the after-holiday clearances.  I'm not sure I could have done this well any other time of year, but just to toot my own horn, I estimate that my $5 package has $40 worth of stuff in it (mostly from all the free makeup).  I do wish, however that I could have found more craft materials at a bargain so I have crafted more of it.

dang!  so worth the wait!

It's official - all packages have arrived and this swap is officially closed and moved over to the archive of swaps totally finished!

And in the spirit of bargain hunting I have to add that I spent the morning at a rummage sale - and boy did I make a killing - but I am kicking myself in the butt that I forgot to get a blender - I want to make home made paper and forgot to bag a blender... grrrr >:(  But on the flip side I did remember to get a toaster oven so I can make melty bead things and not stink up the house!

I also bought a knitting machine and ribber there yesterday to add to my knitting machine collection....
Whew!  $100 down for the church but dang I made out like a complete and total bandit!!!

So have you thought about the next round yet???

Amazing job everyone!!

Title: Re: Bargain Hunter Swap Round 4

The next round I am thinking of an April crafting date - probably start sign ups in about three weeks or so and have the crafting run through May... I am not sure if I should schedule it so that Memorial Day weekend is the last crafting period for those that might need that last 3 day weekend. Is Victoria Day a day off in Canada?  I see that on my calendar as well... for those overseas that's all the holidays I have on my paper calendar - so I have no clue for possible extended crafty weekends...

Oooooor I could start the sign ups this week and have the crafting run through the first week in May if we have some antsy crafters dying to do some bargain hunting but that would not have a single 3 day weekend in the time.

I am torn... I would love to kick off another round.  This is my favorite swap - ever - but the sensible side of me says to include some good solid 3 day crafty weekends too....
 ;D

I will be up for another round. The crafting time doesn't really matter to me because I usually get everything done way before the date. I did want to say Easter falls on March 24th & St. Patricks day(my b-day) is next monday the 17th so there would probably be some good after holiday sales if you start it within the next 2-3weeks

In NS Canada Victoria Day is a holiday for schools, government and banks, but I think that anyone who works retail may have to work? I'm off  ;D

Sorry for not posting this sooner.  This is an action shot of the beautiful pink headband that crochetadikt made for me.  It's hard to see, but there are beads on it.  Sorry I couldn't get a better picture.  I did the best I could.  (Oh and please ignore my broken-out forehead.  yuck.)
