Title: Lighted Gift Packages
Post by: ConfusableBlonde on December 30, 2007 07:51:10 AM
Here is my take on the lighted glass gift packages...

They were SO easy to make, and I have some ideas on how to do them differently next year...

beautiful!!  Where did you buy your glass drill bit?  I was thinking of looking at Lowe's.  Just today, I bought some ribbon on clearance at JoAnn's.  I bought some of the glass at Lowe's.  How did you learn to tie your bows?  I bought some lights on clearance at hobby lobby.

Thanks all! It was really simple... I got the drill bit at Lowe's, it came in a kit with a few others for like 12ish dollars and I used the largest one... It's not a gift inside, it's a strand of lights to be used as a lamp/decoration.  They're very simple to do... try them! :-)
I had no idea how to do the bows... I just wrapped the ribbon around and used a lot of hot glue.  I put those three little ornament balls on the top to kind of disguise the faked ribbon making :-p

what a great bow for just "wrapping around."  I'd probably make a mess.  Has anyone used any sort of bow maker?  thanks.  catdaddytn

Hi,  My DH has been drilling and drilling.  He just can't get the hole in the glass.  I bought a drill piece at Lowe's that was supposed to handle the job, but no luck.  My DH went to buy another drill thing and it still doesn't work.  There's no way I can make alot of these. Any tips?  thanks.  catdaddytn

You know I went to Lowe's and bought the drill bit specifically for these, I forget what they were called, but a person should be able to help you out there.  I put them in the sink and drill them with running water so that the bit stays cooled, just keep the electrically charged parts out of the way if you can.  Also, it takes lots of pressure and drilling, it's not a fast process.  Good luck!
