hi jungrrl! I've never done a craft fair but would like to. I have a question about displaying knit and crochet items. you got your hat/scarf/fingerless mitt sets, smallish items. there are sweaters, shawls, ponchos (out of vogue at this moment!) and other largerer thangs. then of course the biggies like lap thows and afgans. how can such combersomeness ever be displayed effectively? sheesh, maybe a store front! maybe a runway!! but seriously can you include this type of display in your tutorials? and maybe some people who have done such a sell with thoughts, ideas and pics? would enjoy some input.

Hello!
I like to crochet hats and headbands, but I have no idea of how I can display them. I admit, I have looked at those mannequin heads, but they're kinda creepy. Don't want to scare off the children. If anybosy has a solution I'd be eternally grateful!

i agree with maryabbie. what would be some good, cheap options for displaying hats without involving fake heads?

Dead thread, but I am going to respond anyway  :P

I don't crochet... or knit for that matter, but I have worked a ton of craft shows for my pops, who makes his own natural cleaning products and soaps, and have seen some pretty cool displays.

One lady made some cool hat displays out of wire armature. Another simply stuck a Styrofoam ball atop a stick in a stand and covered it. There are a ton of round-ish things you can use in the that way, you just have to keep your eyes open! I hope this helps!

another option is a small ball ..... something that a kid would recognize and laugh at ;)

Kusudamas?

I want to include a table because I have some flat ones, but other than hanging them on xmas trees, I have no idea to go about it.

Christmas Ornaments and Wreaths?  I have an fake tree I hang ornaments on - very time consuming - some I put on a tray on my table.   But I still have NO good ideas for wreaths. Anybody?

Have your husband stand very still slide them down his arms and over his head lol. Tell him he cant go home until he's sold out,
but on a more serious and hopefully helpful note what about those command hooks the non permanent things on your table edges and maybe the side of your tent

Hey everyone! I've made a tutorial list for the Crafty Business Advice category and it has lots of links to various display tutorials around Craftster. At some point I will update this thread a little better but for now, you can just go here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=418322.0

Title: Re: How to display wine glass markers
Post by: Jewel Crafts by Jenn on February 14, 2013 12:09:10 PM
I have put a lot of time and energy into creating (themed) wine glass markers. (the little hoop you put at the bottom of your glass so after you've had a few, you can still tell which is your glass ;) )

Unfortunately, I have not had any luck in selling them and that is sad because I thought the idea was wonderful!  Currently, I have 4 holes punched into the bottom of a note card and a cute little ribbon at the top.  I thought it was cute, however, people are not really even looking at them at the shows. I have a TON of these markers, so laying them out on a table is not a viable option.

I've attached a pic of the display now.  Please help! :)

You do of course have some wine glasses in your displays, right? If not, get at least a dozen glasses and make a multi level display. Cover it with a nice material and display the glasses with the markers attached. You also need lighting. Lots of it to showcase the glasses with the markers.

I looked at your website and saw two themes, dogs and boats. You need lots more designs. You would need at least a dozen different designs to start out. If you were doing some shows you would be crazy not to have at least 50 to 60 designs. You need to wow your customers. I know my wife would want each design on a separate wine glass.

Then group the designs together in sections of your booth.  Plastic wine glasses work just fine in this case. They're cheap and if you break one, oh well.

I have a fellow exhibitor friend who makes vests for wine bottles. And to tell you the truth, he has over 150 designs in his booth.

Title: How to display painted lap desks
Post by: Trenea7 on December 22, 2013 09:36:11 AM
I'm looking a an indoor show at a school with booths set up in hallways, 9x5 space. Any suggestions for displaying painted lap desks, the kind with the pillow attached?  They are so bulky I'm afraid they will take up my whole space.

This link shows an example: http://lemontreecreations.blogspot.com/2010/06/lap-desk.html?m=1

I think a standing them on edge in a suitcase or decorated trunk might work.
