Title: from plastic bag to flip flops + "pattern"
Post by: ksenya on October 06, 2007 01:04:02 PM
hi! =)
i saw people crocheting with plastic bags, usually stuff that use for a storage or bags, then my mom gave me an idea!
" why don't you make a flip flops?"
and yes, why not, so i did)

there are still some things to work on, but as a first try i really wanted to share

here some more pictures http://ksenya-ksenya.blogspot.com/2007/10/flip-flps-yeeahh.html#links (http://ksenya-ksenya.blogspot.com/2007/10/flip-flps-yeeahh.html#links)

PS. is it OK to post same topic at  Clothing and shoes  bord of cratster?

-------------------------------------------------------------
some of you ask for pattern, i didn't have one but here is a sketch of what i remember doing
i hope you know how to read charts)

all you need is an oval shape and string attached to it in 3 points try it really easy, nomber of round you need to do is depends on your size ofcourse

I like them.  The rule I believe is that projects can only be posted once, so you should always post in whichever board you feel that something fits best in.

very nice, but how comfortable are they?  Do your feet get hot on the soles if you wear them for some time?

I think they would be great as shower shoes for the gym - they wouldn't take up much room in the bag and they are totally waterproof....

What a great and clever idea! I have tons of plastic grocery bags stuffed into my cupboards and I've thought of recylcing them into a reusable shopping bag or something... but I never thought of shoes!

You deserve a pat on the back. These are ingenious!

great job!  did you work from any sort of pattern or just make it up as you went along?

The rule I believe is that projects can only be posted once, so you should always post in whichever board you feel that something fits best in.

exactly correct.  please only post a project in one category.  :)

they are very light. and if you have sweaty feet then they stick, but there are holes in it so it all breathy. and they all so remind me this orthopedic shoes with acupuncture, because of the knots) supposed to be good for health

Those are really awesome! I have a ball of "yarn" I made from plastic bags, but I've never liked anything I tried to make from it. I would totally make these, though!

Would you mind posting your pattern or did you find one somewhere?

Thanks!

Thats really great.  I'd love to see the pattern!  I have a pair of thick felt insoles that I have been trying to figure out how to make toe holds on and this would be great help.

Those flip flops are great. They would be wonderful for the college showers and the pool. Did you have a pattern or just design them as you went along?

Very cool idea!  I've been looking for something to crochet with all these bags, and I'm not sure I have the patience for a rug yet.  Thanks for the inspiration!

It's not too hard, just take the bag and cut it into long strips.  Join the strips together with a small knot then roll into a skein.

Op:  Awesome shoes!  If I can ever get my Christmas present rush finished, I might make a pair.  ^_^
