Title: For pendant necklaces - what's your favorite cord to string them on?
Post by: jenna rose on August 30, 2007 07:46:10 PM
glass pendants, wood pendants.  what's your favorite thing to string them on?

i'm looking at one of the sections on firemountaingems, http://www.firemountaingems.com/thread_cord.asp and they have a lot.

i've done ribbon, stretchy rubber cord, a sort of string/hemp cord.

also, finishing them off - how do you make them look nice and professional? i've used the ending crimps that you fold over both side to close over the end of the cord, but it really doesn't look nice.

they look like these:

I have a hard time holding those and trying to keep the cord in place all the while trying to close them.  Is there some trick for that?

All tips and advice much appreciated!

i actually quite like the rubber cord. i've just ordered 10m of it. suede is also quite nice. as for the ends, i tend to use those crimp things(better for flat ribbon/suede), or the coil end things.(better for round materials, like rubber cord, and string!) for thinner material i use callottes.
