Title: Lacy Tee
Post by: LittleJoi on August 06, 2007 09:36:42 AM
I started out a few months ago with a free pattern for a top down raglan that I found on Elann.com but from the time I cast on I was having problems. The cast on used was strange and I had never seen it in any knitting book or pattern before but I figured the hardest part was over and decided to keep going. I had such high hopes for this little knitted tee. It looked so adorable on the model and I planned on wearing it during those really hot summer days. Unfortunately the pattern made no sense to me so I was forced to frog after months of putting this project off and trying to convince myself that I would finish it. I felt like such a quitter until I went onto the Elann website looking for the pattern and realized it had been removed which makes me think there was something wrong with the pattern which makes me feel a little better.

I finished this some time ago but I was busy moving and getting settled so I wasn't able to post about it. It took me about 2 weeks from start to finish. I am thrilled with this tee! It fits perfectly and came out just the way I had envisioned it would. I wore it out that same day as soon as I finished blocking it. So without further ado...

I wore a regular flesh colored bra underneath it and I didn't feel it was to noticable or revealing and it really is very comfortable in the summer heat here in Pittsburgh.

You can see some additional photos here http://deliciousstitches.blogspot.com/2007/08/finished-lacey-tee.html

I used TLC Cotton Plus Yarn in Thistle. I've used cotton plus for several different projects this summer and they all turned out really well. I highly recommend it for summer projects.

I'm sorry there isn't going to be a pattern for this one. I didn't take any pattern notes for this sweater. I'm not even sure what I cast on.

oh mah goodness, it's so adorable!  did you do short rows or did you just keep increasing until it fit your boobs and then decrease underneath?

I can only repeat what all the others have said....your knitted Tee is beautiful, as are you modeling it.  It is very flattering and the lace pattern is very, very pretty.  BTW I also love the top you knitted in your avatur picture.  You are a very talented young lady!  Way to go!

P.S.  I just looked at your blog, and love it.  You are so young and yet you are already making these beautiful items.  How long have you been knitting and who taught you?  I laughed out loud when I read your remark about using the flower stitch marker because it was so much fun reaching it at the end of the row!  And I liked the pictures of your family too.  Your little brother and sister are cuties. I'm a mom with a 22-yr-old daughter and I so wish she'd learn to knit and/or crochet like you're doing.  [sigh]  Oh well, that's my only regret with her!  So in the meantime I'll just enjoy the pictures of projects that other young ladies like you make and show them to my daughter and maybe she'll get inspired to start!  Keep up the wonderful creations.

adorable!  i'm a quasi new knitter, and am afraid of making anything that's not winter outdoors related...  have you made clothes much before?

also, are you being sarcastic about the "wear on warm days"  i've always associated yarn with not optimal during the heat...

Its beautiful!  I love the way you make the raglan sleeve line look kind of lacy like the main portion of the sweater.

Yes I'm serious I really can wear it in the summer heat. When I iron blocked this shirt the yarn I used flattened really well and made it feel alot lighter. If you ever use this yarn I definitly recommend iron blocking it.

When I was in elementary school my mom taught me how to cast on and knit in stockinette stitch but she couldn't remember how to cast off so I stopped trying after that. Then in high school I taught myself how to crochet using one of those I Taught Myself Crochet kits that comes with hooks and onld lionbrand patterns. Then about 1 1/2 years ago I saw a bunch of knitted cables on different projects and sites and so I decided I should learn how to knit too. So I looked online for knitting instructions and thats how I learned to knit.

Thanks everyone for your compliments. ;D

Ditto on everyone's comments. You are very talented. Can you please tell us the name of the lace pattern that you used or share the lace pattern? You dont have to give us the entire pattern, but it would be lice to know more about that lace pattern.

i had the exact same reaction and went looking!  knitty's convertible (http://www.knitty.com/issuespring06/PATTconvertible.html) is very similar, if not the same.  i'm gonna make one, too, probably using the split neckline cap-sleeved tee from fitted knits as my pattern.

Wow!  If I looked like that in a fitted sweater, I would go ahead and make the off the shoulder sweater from the 2005 Easy Knitting I have hanging around.  Alas, I will keep looking at the magazine and dreaming.  You did an awesome job and you look amazing in it.  Cheers to you!

This is really beautiful work!

It reminds me of this Elann pattern: http://www.elann.com/ShowFreePattern.asp?Id=106024.  I know that Elann had it up for a while then took it down then put it back up again.  Was this the pattern to which you were referring?
