aw come on guys - give madpimp a break - she went on a crafting binge - and remember you are only required to send one medium crafted thing.  I am dying to see what she made and bought though!

According to the slip in my mailbox, I have received!

According to the times posted on my apartment complex office, they closed 1/2 an hour early, denying me my package!!!!!

This means the DH will need to pick it up tomorrow, and I will not be home until late, like 10:30 EST. So everyone waiting for the pictures, they shall be posted then.

(And friday I get to shop -- Woohoo!)

I'm so excited I'm counting and recounting the stuff I bought!!! And I'm so crazy I'm dreaming of it at night!!!! I really hope my partners like what I do..being a beginner I'm second guessing myself alot :P

I really am crazy you know...while I'm making on craft for one partner I'm thinking about what I should do for my other partner, It's a good thing I can laugh about it!! Otherwise, my husband would have to send me to the looney house  ;D

Now since the gallery is up, this is what I've been doing....
--> crafting...
--> recounting the stuff
--> lurking around this gallery.....

I have to say, this swap is FUN!!  ;D

I have received!

This was a terribly fun package. Every time I thought I'd found everything, I'd locate a new pocket with more stuff in it!

First, my cool item: a messenger bag with many, many pockets!

It can even be worn two different ways, and it is completely reversible. I am very impressed with it! Plus, there was a TON of little things in it:

And there is extra fabric! I love the fabric Madpimp chose for the bag, totally wild and crazy and me! Yay bold patterned fabric!

wow.  A bar has been set - and pretty high too!

Okay bargain hunters - do not stress!  This is suppose to be a fun swap not a stressful one!
A bargain is a bargain - and it comes in all shapes and sizes I might add - each package that is sent/received is going to be amazing in its own way.

Madpimp - I think you will be a sought after crafter - I hope you are stockpiling for round 2 - keeping track of your nifty finds in hopes that you will be able to use them in round 2!

And I have to say this - dang I need to get crafting.  I have had the kids at grandma's house and all I have been doing is shopping and organizing the craft room!!  OKay, that NEEDED to be done - I am uncovering boxes to ebay out of here - I can't believe I have so much stuff.  OKay, it isn't hard to believe - I am a packrat!

I never can find fabric like that - we have Walmart and Hancock's - okay and a few boutique fabric stores but I have learned my lessons there - same stuff that Hancocks had but with $2 more per yard on the ticket..

Pirate fabric - nice!  Collin is all about pirates right now.  His favorite pirate word is Blimey.  what a character!

We have Marden's here in Maine. Super close out store.  They all have huge fabric departments and they sell the neatest fabric for like $3 a yard or less.  I'm talking the stuff you see in the really good fabric stores for like $10 or so a yard.  I really have to be careful in there. hehe.

banga was my amazing swap partner and with her $5 she made me..

*drumroll please*

A SCRAPBOOK!!:

the cover:

it's made up of paper bags, scrapbook paper and paint chips =]

some pages:

she made it so simple, all i have to do is add the pics and i have my own scrap book...

now, for what cost my partner so much $$ in shipping:

scrapbook paper, epoxy stickers, paint chips, paper punches, scrapbook paper and art catalogs/postcards!

i couldn't be happier  ;D

i wish i had spent my $5 more wisely... i didnt know you could do so much with so little!

Glad you like everything dramatikz! All that ephemera is for your new ATC-ing... a bit of stalking told me you are new to it. I would have sent way more, but craftydeb did set that 90% rule, so I had to lock up my stash. ;D I hope you have fun playing with all of that stuff!

I received my lovely package from javede.  I got a really cute bag of navy cotton with dotted pleated panels and a little makeup pouch with a sweet embroidery of a lipstick on it.  Javede said she just learned to embroider and she did a wonderful job on the embroidery and the sewing too.  Inside the bag was some very nice sock yarn I love it.  Also some embroidery floss and a package of embroidery transfers in sewing theme and a candy bar I will be eating that soon.  There was a little lamb magnet too and the leftover fabric.  I will post a pic as soon as I can.

Here's my list:
0,8m navy cotton0,5333333€(actually brought 3m for 2€, but it would have been to heavy too send the "left-over" too)
dotted fabric

magnetic closure for the bag
Embroidery floss0,76€(also from my craft stash and I brought 100 for 19€)
2 X sock yarn3,98€
chocolate0,69€
sheep magnet
Sublime Stitching pattern(There was a little mix-up and I ended up with doubles :D This one is also the reason the package got delayed a bit)
postcardfrom a swap

It has been real fun to make something for you!
And here's a photo I made before sending, though it's not the best:

Btw. I never noticed before that you can insert tables here too  :o

Wowooww! That scrapbook is awesome! I've always been hesitant to do scrapbooking because it seems like such an expensive sport.. but my mind is changing... :)

yeah it is.. once im in michaels, i go straight for the scrapbooking section and buy endless supplies of stickers, stencils and paper...

i wish i could sew like you though!! it seems so much more practical... i'd kill to be able to make my own bag or skirt!

tote bags aren't too bad, my mom only had to show me 2 times (less time than it took me to learn how to wind bobbins)  Totes and needle rolls are all I can sew, so watch out swap partners!  Don't worry, I buy really cool fabric . . . my trick: make simple stuff with cool materials, makes you look like a rock star!

Here is a pic of the package I rec'd from dramatikz, but missing the main crafted item! She made me this adorable beaded choker with the beads shown here (these are the extras) but I had the package at work yesterday in the presence of my friend's 7 yr. old. She "tried it on" and pranced around the restaurant so everyone told her how pretty her new necklace was! I just had to let her keep it then! At least she didn't try on the bracelets. I'm going to use the extras beads and clasps to make a new one for me!

Thank you much dramatikz, now I have a new crafty project too!

WOWOWOWOWOOWOWOWOOWOWOW I received!!! zomg!! It's so awesome!!!

I came home to this box, complete with pokemon stickers:

Opened it to find this!!!

What is this? you might ask... This is the mysterious package that I had to assemble that gleep has been alluding to!

It's already found a good place :-D   Gleep must'a stalked me or something, the table matches my decor perfectly =D

I also got this awesome tote with my domain/username on it on one side and a shroomie on the other side!

I don't know how she knew I was about to make/buy a tote to to hold my crochet projects

And finally, I got:

A cute spiral notebook!  Again, she must be psychic because I needed a notebook to keep track of the crafts I want to do!  I've been filling my purse with post-it notes for the last week.

=] Thanks so much gleep!  I'm so glad you were my first swap partner.  I have a warm fuzzy feeling inside now.

Ok, be prepared to get jealous, cause I got my package from eye_on_sparrow!
She send me this awesome package:

I absolutely love everything! I have a soft spot for toile fabric, how did you know this?
You can see in the pic:
-a fantabulous bag, which will be my new favorit for just about any occasion  :D It can even expand in the top!
-needle/craft roll, totally usefull when traveling as you can put various things inside! Here's a pic of the inside and a close-up of the quilted back!

-a fabric knit kit for a purse, always wanted to try knitting fabric strips, but since I've never seen a kit for that around(and making the strips myself seems too much work) I never got around doing so, but now I can!
-Hello Kitty stuff for the HK freak within me! I LOVE them, why is it that McD around here just has boring stuff?
-D-Ring and button left-over, which come in handy at the moment for a bag I'm planing!
-And last, but certainly not least, the perfect craft apron! It's fantastic and I've been wanting one for sooooooooooooooooo long! It has pockets and D-rings to attach things and a little purse and stitch markers!

Thank you very much eye_on_sparrow! I love everything you sent and it was super fun swapping with you!
And here's a silly pic showing just how happy I am, note manic smile(I can't believe I'm posting this, haven't even showered yet 8))

The table -- that was on clearance for $5 at Michael's, it's a plant stand and had a truly hideous "paint your own" idea on it, but I saw how much Madpimp liked the Mushroom nintendo guy, so.... (Yes, there was stalking!)

I got lucky on the tote, it was on clearance and looked the perfect size for a knit/crochet project. I had been looking for a good clearance fabric but there'd been nothing that said "madpimp" to me enough.

I'm so glad you liked everything, Madpimp!

I really like the paint chip things. They don't have them here any more. I think I should join the wish list swap & ask for some of those! Very versitile. I saw a table once with them used as decoupage & also used as art in frames and those little match book size note books, and..... (humm... I guess I NEED them!)

There is a crocheted wallet, flower pin, toy mousie, and wrist warmers, a pin cushion, a box of buttons and a suncatcher.

There is also a  photo pillow she made of my avatar.

Detail of the buttons and suncatcher.

Me wearing the warmers and holding the pillow.

Arm warmers action shot.

I love everything and I think my favorites are the suncatcher, the pillow, and the arm warmers(even though it's so hot right now).  I can't believe she made all of this for $5.00!!!  Thank you Krazy4katz, I can't wait for you to get your package.

People used to stalk the galleries for the iyp and the ows swaps - but I think that this swap has just earned its name for wistfulness!
And the best part - there are a slew more packages to be sent & received!

I am officially 3/4 the way done with cyndiq's project.  It is a time consuming bugger but I think it is coming out great.  I am already planning on making myself something similar since it is coming out so nicely - I would never have dreamt of making something like this - but dang.  It is coming out super sharp!

Okay. lunch.. then back to the craft room!
oooh.. eat lunch at the computer THEN back to the craft room!

my swap partner oohmybees is the absolute sweetest, kindest, person on the planet!  Not only did she make some great stuff... but she sent a letter and wrote why she made each thing for me.. I really had tears in my eyes knowing how much thought she put into each thing... first she made this cool little suitcase for me to carry my crochet backa nd forth when I wait for my sons basketball conditioning... I so always wanted to be a Diva!!

Then.. because she is just is a super thoughtful person, she sent a journal with a removable cover  I am such a list person and she just made sure I had one that matched my case!! AND the absolute cutest container/vase which is going to hold crochet hooks... it has the absolute most vintage girlies on it!

Korinne, you have made this swap just awesome for me!!  Thanks so much...! It has been great getting to know you!

I'm glad you like the suitcase Krazy4katz.  I am really proud of how it turned out, the lining was an adventure.  I wanted to post some more photos of it though.
Here's the before(yes it came with dust :D):

Here's the front:

And the sides:

I had a great time doing this I think I will be redoing more, there are a lot of them on the yard sales around here.

i was carole73's first swap partner, i recieved today. (considering that monday was a holiday and there's no mail on weekends, it took about two days to get here. i was amazed, it takes an average of three weeks normally).

supplies:

felt, hufflepuff beads, black beads, and studs

other stuff:

a headband, a quebec fleur de lis keychain, iron ons, left over yarn

hair tie which i shall use for a bracelet:

toque and scarf:

i find this especially awesome, considering i hadn't really told carole73 that i wanted this. i told her about my love of toque's in general, but not this. i was actually just about to find a personal swap partner to get a red crocheted hat, and ta-dah! i got one in the mail. mind reading, if i do say so myself.

I am in love with the suitcase revamp! wowowow! (I have one of those in brown, but have never redone it, now I think I'm inspired. My aunt says those are called "train cases" hee hee, how old school!)

Title: Re: Bargain Hunter Swap Gallery~
Post by: Yarn or Fabric on August 08, 2007 03:49:35 AM
Is that what a train case is??  I have a friend that is dying to get one - and she checks the second hand stores and then is completely bummed out when it is musty stinky or is too expensive.  she keeps saying you know a train case - and I am like, no I don't know what is it???!!!  I see them at the second hand stores down here (which might mean they are musty stinky - down south things get musty fast if you don't have an ac unit to suck the moisture out of your house... it is just nasty.  My mother in laws house is so musty I have allergy attacks when I go there - and I can smell it on me until I get showered.... I hate going to our JC Penny because of the same thing... I think they must have flooded or something at one time considering the smell..... back to mil's house... everything that comes out of the house reeks of it too - when the boys go there overnight I have to wash everything they took.. and apparantly I am the only one who smells it.... that just can't be!  She must know it is musty - she started spritzing the boys' clothes with peppermint scent before sending it back - so now I get minty must....

train case.  Must look for a train case.
I think you have started something now!!
Oh!  I love the before shots too!  Complete with dust - how funny - and what a huuuuuuge improvement!!

Title: Re: Bargain Hunter Swap Gallery~
Post by: coral on August 08, 2007 09:25:17 AM
Oh yeah.  I love my train case.  I see them once in a while at the thrift shops here, and I got one in great condition for $3.00.  It has a pop up mirror in it and a separate little snap-on pouch for makeup or whatever. I keep all my travel toiletries in it and just grab-and-go when I want to go on a trip somewhere.  And I feel so vintage when I actually take it ON THE TRAIN!  hee hee.  Sometimes I take the train from Portland to Seattle to see my sis who lives there.  It's such a relaxing 4 hour trip (lots of knitting time!), and cheap considering the price of gas these days.

That sucks about the mustyness craftydeb!  We are fortunate up here to have very low humidity but it rains a lot so anything left outside will get ruined.

I'll have to keep that idea in mind for future swaps because everyone should have a train case!

The pretty basket it all came in.

Amazing cupcake pincushion and some buttons.

The inside of the basket and lime green duct tape(!)

The best hat ever. I love it. I wore it for like an hour before I realized that 100 degree weather isn't the best time for knit hats. Sigh. Only four months until winter.

so exciting! I just sent - unfortunately in two boxes, is that against swap rules? (imagine fear emoticon) next time i am going to leave more time for packing it all up.

ha. the woman at the post office said - 'it probably took you more time to pack it up than to make it!' and i looked her in the eyes and said 'no, it didn't.' i think she knew i meant business. i can't wait for you to get your packages knickertwist although i'm so anxious about everything arriving okay!!!

sorry for bumping the gallery, i'm trying to avoid the main thread where knickertwist posted her shopping list until i get home from work. and find either package or little note telling me i have to get the package tomorrow.

Yeah! My package arrive to Miss*Laurence. I'm glad you liked it. I've noticed on your pictures & mine that the fabric square is a bit askew.... I wonder if this is because I put it on when the bag was not in the pouch.... Ugh! Why do we not see these things before they go out??

Anyway, here is my list: Prices are in FRANCS, total below in US$

Lime scarf   5.00  <-Yeah that was expensive! Almost 1/2 budget!
Lime Barrette 1 from Claire's    0.50
Beige Barrette 2   from Claire's 0.50
Flower pin from Claire's that I glued on to beige barrette:0.50
florescent reflective ribbon on sale for dept store   3.00
Fabric scraps on scarf   (from scraps) 0.00
Reusable shopping bag (from Casa)   2.50
Scrap of fabric on the bag (part of scraps) 0.00
Beads on shopping bag pouch 0.00
(just sneaked a few beads out of the stash)
Pencil... Ok, i really cheated on the pencil... It was 1.50!!! Yikes!! :)
Total   CHF 13.50

US$  11.29

(I went over only because of the pencil!! So can be consider it just extra?? DH told me not to include the pencil if it went over the budget! Seriously! )

i'm so happy!

a package? for me?

oh man

a slew of sewing paraphenelia! all in a wonderful box!

a beautifully made needle book

a craft-caddy type thing - which has already made two trips with me - two!

and the box itself, which is already getting filled up. as is the plastic storage box, in which my bobbins are happily finding a home!

but that wasn't all!

big burly canoeing men in magnetic picture frames. these are PER-fect.

a set of four glass teacups. these are also perfect - i love tea drinking and love to have the coolest stuff to impress my tea guests. i have a glass pot so these will go along splendidly!

beautiful embroidered tea towels. these are very neatly done.

she also gave me a book that is right up my reading alley - "Becoming Jane Austen" - i really enjoy reading about writers but rarely think of it when i go to the library. clearing the book queue is harder than clearing the craft queue, but i think this one might make it on the rotation soon. have you read it, knickertwist?

finally, a picture of everything:

with an incriminating pair of scissors in the background to show how much i need to get organized.

all of this stuff is wonderful, knickertwist, thank you thank you thank you! you do beautiful work. i just decided/found out last night that i am moving to a new apartment in september, the upper unit in the building that i'm in now, and i am looking forward to being more organized in the crafting department. i didn't have any of those things you sent me - not even a plastic storage container to organize bobbins or anything - who knew that having a sewing machine would turn into such an occupation?

now i can't wait for you to receive your package...which will probably be next week.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad you like your gear edud! It really was a lot of fun to put together.

I have to mention (something that I already told edud) that the little glass cups and saucers almost killed me when I saw them at Value Village. A few months ago I bought a set of 2 glass cups and saucers which were very similar and they cost me $20 ... edud's were only .99 for the lot!

re: Becoming Jane ... I haven't read the book and I haven't seen the flick but I hear it's pretty good and since it was free and you like to read ... well, what's better than a free book?

I received from Curse10!  She sent me a cool handmade Travel Journal.  The cover has a global map on it and there is a little place to put a title on the front.  The inside has a couple of folders attached to the inside of the front and back covers for ephemera, receipts, etc. Extra blue folders are also there. There are a ton of pages with graph paper.  Now I just need to go somewhere!

The Front cover with North America...

The back cover has a bit of Far East Russia & Alaska...  Russia is actually my favorite place to visit.

Inside pages...

Thank you soo much Curse10...  Too cool!

And I love the package that Edude got. I'm so going to have to go with 10 next time.  My 5 is ok but WOW!!! Now the bar has been raised and I'm scared.  I don't want the pictures of what I made put up now. hehe.

I got home from work today to find a package on the dining room table!  That was fast - coast to coast in two days!

Here is the loveliness that mamaAnn sent me:

black and silver baby yarn - I'll have to knit something for one or both of my babies out of this stuff!

gorgeous purple crocheted shopping/project bag (a bit of my preggo belly snuck into that shot):

cute little purse with clear pockets on both sides, that she embroidered little felt patches for - side 1:

side 2 - apparently the fact that one cherry is embroidered and one is rhinestones is a mistake - but I wouldn't have known that unless she wrote it in her note to me:

veg magazines, scrapbooking magazine, craft project book, infant layette pattern, and project sheets:

and her fabric "score" - and BIG score is right - two yards of iridescent silk dupioni!!!  On top of it are a skull patch, white piping, a purple bracelet and earring set, and a sequin Halloween mask:

I almost forgot to take a picture of the knitting needle, so I took a pic of it with the bracelet/earring set out of the package:

Thank you, mamaAnn, everything suits me perfectly!  Wow - you are some bargain shopper.  I can't wait for you to get your package now!

mamaAnn's tally post:

Wow, that was fast, glad you got it fast. I really wanted to make something with that silk but it was too nice to make something that you might not like and since you said you sewed I figured you probably sewed better than I did (I was right about that-see the pics).

So now to my WOW!
I got my pkg today also and was in awe of Starr's creativity!
See for yourself!

HUGE variety of great things-11 skeins of yarn (and I thought I found a lot-ha!), placemat purse, bamboo mat, ton of red cord fabric (which I'm making a bag out of and maybe some pillows)
You have to look at the cool bamboo purse with the red cord material at top and bottom with the shell handles-is that not the most cool creation ever?!

very cool bracelets my DD stole

very cool bracelets
I love these types of bracelets and wear them everyday so these are really great!
And yes, she used the bamboo and added snaps to make 2 bracelets-how clever!

the MOST awesome pants-Starr will  have to describe how she made them but they are like a wrap skirt!
LOVE LOVE LOVE them-I need the pattern please!

Not pictured because my kids ran off with them is a paint pallet (is that the tight term to hold paint?), 4 containers fabric paint, a small kit with brush, comb, etc, and the extra resin thread she sewed the placemat bag with.

I'm beyond thrilled-thanks so much!!!!  ;D

my tally post is here - https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=179249.msg1988499#msg1988499 .  It's super long because I wrote it when I sent, and I kept going back and tweaking it.   ::)

And this is cut and pasted from an email to mamaAnn:

1) the bamboo bag isn't an original idea; I saw it on the Carol Duvall show, and tweaked it a little - http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/crafting/article/0,1789,HGTV_3352_1381486,00.html .  I cut the bamboo with some old kitchen shears that I use to cut wire with.

2) the pants are super easy; they're basically two rectangle pieces of fabric with a crotch curve sewin in the middle; then they wrap around and tie with the drawstring.  <snip>

Here is a link to some directions for those pants - not the ones I originally saw years ago, but this will show you how to make them:

I love the pants and the bamboo purse.  I have a pattern like the pants I have been wanting to try for about 5 years.  All that yarn is very cool and a great bargain.  This is really a amazing gallery and things are still coming in.

I love vintage hankies and tablecloths-is that what the violet flower print is? I think they are gorgeous!
Those plastic coasters take me back LOL

That cozy is IT! I love the fabric and am into owls lately so I'm drooling over that. Great job!

Those are hankies and they are pristine!!!  The strawberry napkin too. I am a fan of vintage linens so I was really happy about those.

Thanks for the compliments on the cozy.  I am not really into owls, my partner is, and I have to admit it was a little difficult to let him go!

I received an AMAZING package from dragonflyducky.  She is a crafting goddess (and a bargain hunter goddess as well)! I am floored by this package and absolutely love it all.  Big pictures to show off her amazing skills:

The whole thing: 1. A tote bag with a slug applique - slugs are like our state mascot. It's made from a very sturdy fabric, this will be perfect for shopping or hauling whatever.
2. A bag made from a felted sweater - isn't the argyle pattern fabulous?  And the colors are totally me. It's lined with a heavy material and has a magnetic closure!
3. An adorable stuffie, he's about 10" tall, made from felted sweaters it looks like.  The bottom has rocks in it so it can stand up! I love this guy, he has so much personality and I need to name him.
4. A knitted silver wire bracelet with blue pearl-like beads. gorgeous.
5. Last but definitely not least, hand dyed yarn in a cotton/silk blend.  Over 400 yds for the big ball, over 300 yrds for the medium ball, and an undyed ball for me to have fun with.
I am so spoiled!  OK, here's the closeups:

WOW - so many talented crafters here!  First - kudos to anyone who sent something knit or crocheted.  I got yarn in my pre-parnter buying thinking I could make something, but being realistic I knew that would make me blow the deadline.

curse10 - it's been said, but that journal is amazing!

Martyx9 - Love the linens you got for carrieme, and the salt & pepper shakers are the same my grandmother had!

carrieme - that machine cozy is gorgeous - I can't believe you'd never made one before!

dragonflyducky - adorable stuffie, and the knitted wire bracelet you made is simply stunning.

christinacoghill - everything you crocheted is soooo cute!  I especially love the baby bird. :-*

c_lest_m - That wallet - it's going on my wist.

I received from one of my partners...hardyswanton01 and I'm so happy I'm shaking!!!!! When I sent my info to craftydeb I may have mention that I love skulls and ladybugs....
Here is the list of what I received:
Reversible tote bag (skulls on one side, ladybugs on the other  ;D)
shawl/scarf (black and white skull fleece)
needle roll (skull fabric)
earrings and stitch markers (sent extra awesome beads)
potholders (sent me the extra yarn)

hardyswanton01 is a craftster goddess, I love everything!!!

The potholders are incredible, so is the reversible tote bag and a awesome needle roll, which I really needed.

I'm in love with my new skull shawl/scarf...It gets pretty cold here in my "Belle Province" of Québec but this winter I'LL BE VERY WARM!

I'm sorry for the bad pictures I was sooooooo happy and excited!!

Thank you so so much hardyswanton01.   ;D ;D ;D

I'll take a few deep breaths and take better pictures tonight and post them on my blog and brag a bit!!!

Fabric for purse and extra remnants as well

Other fabric, textured papers, stickers, etc.

Appliques, beads, awesome flower stickers

And my AWESOME Purse!  The embroidery on it is lovely!  I may be wrong, but it looks as if Miss*Laurence painted the scene of Provence and the Lavender fields on some cream fabric, then embroidered it with both machine and hand embroidery.

Overall close-up of embroidery

Close-up of the Lavender, she also used some sheer fabric under the laveder embroidery, then clipped it close.  You can just see some of the shimmery fabric...awesome!

Close-up of the tree embroidery

I just love this bag and aspire to learn how to do this.  If you like textile art, I suggest you check out Miss*Laurence's website.  She does lovely work...

Thank You!!

Looking at all the great stuff everyone got I am feeling a little nervous that my partner wont like what I made for her.  In my own defense, I was going to make her a crocheted top but she never replied to my emails to find out what size.  This is my first swap, so I am kinda worried.  For some reason, whenever I do anything like this some calamity happens and it gets all messed up.  Hope this one goes well.  Keep your fingers crossed for me.  LaShawn  :-[

buuuut for those small pet owners - prepare to be in awe...
She has a gift for sewing - and is just fantastic.. and I think she should go in to business sewing pet beds!!

that is the loot - pet bed.. crayon roll ups for the boys! - a crafty kit for each of the boys - and VERY appropriate too considering they LOOOOVE door hangers! - a wicked cool origami bag with buttons inside - and yes, I am proud to say that I AM a button whore and i know it!  I love buttons.  If I could fill a tub with them I would probably get in it too!

that's the origami bag.  I keep saying I am going to make one of these babies - but I have one now!!
Okay - I really need to take an upclose of the crayon rolls for the boys - they are really cool!  They will get lots of use out of those in car trips.. no more not being able to find their implements of coloration.....

Buster.... moving in to investigate.....

wicked cool package - oh and the extra fabric for me to play with too!  Such wonderful colors - just perfect!

I'm telling ya - that pet bed is just breathtaking... I think she should make them and take some to grooming salons and see if they would put up a table with consignment items on it.  It really is that good.  She said there were mistakes in it but I could not see any at all.

Deb - I'm glad you liked your package.  The pet bed is far from perfect, but I'm glad you like it so much.  I wanted to make one from your wist, but I had to go with the one I could get a cheap pattern for.  Looks like your doggy is too big for it though. :-\

I can't wait to get home and see if I have a package waiting for me.  We're getting in super late tomorrow night...

Gonna go sign up for round 2 now!

Have no fear on the dog bed - tis a mite tight but it has already been claimed by a family member believe it or not..
Collin has had a cardboard box that I made in to a dog house for one of his stuffed animals (one I made!) named Bruiser and I have actually been meaning to make him a kickarse one for Bruiser since I am so tired of seeing all my hard worked being housed in a cardboard box with the front cut open....

so now I need a sleeping bag for Giraffee... Logan sleeps with Giraffee every night and wraps him up in a blanket and calls it a sleeping bag - so I now have to produce a handmade sleeping bag/faux air mattress combo complete with a pillow for Giraffee...

I think I made out like a bandit... oh and Buster might actually fit in the bed a bit more comfortably once he gets groomed today - he does look a lot bigger right now than he really is.... he is in dire need of a clipping!

update - Buster fits loads better now that he has loads less hair!
Laura - go check your front porch!!! I think someone left you a present and it is not a burning paper bag of doodie!   :D

okay.. at least I hope you don't consider it a burning box of doodie when you open it!  ;D

Hurray! Hurray! I got home from camping yesterday to find two packages waiting at my door! (I would have posted the goodness last night but we're getting over food poisoning and trying to squeeze every last minute out of our remaining vacation time.) On to my crazy fab swap package ...

First of all a lovely reversible bag ... I love it, such pretty colours!

Next a trio of zombies! I heart zombies. There is a wee pouch, a mirror holder (with mirror inside) and a pin cushion zombie with its innards falling out.

Being the swell stalker that she is edud hit the nail on the head with some thoughtfully gathered herbs

A kite kit, which as you can see is already being used, and which prooved to be a mailing mess for poor edud. My kiddo quickly laid claim to this when the package was opened

If that wasn't enough, she also send some lovely well loved paperbacks (I love used books) a vintage bra pattern, and some kitchy craft gear

Being the lucky gal that I am I also got a ton of stuff to add to my stash! Wheee! I love bits and bobs

Last, but certainly not least, a wisp! It is absolutely gorge. I'd say that this is my most favourite bit but my mind keeps flipping from one thing to another!

I loves all my gear dearly and I think edud was not only a great stalker but that she was really imaginative with the things she chose. Thanks edud!!!!!!!!!

I received from mclianne! She sent me a huge box of sttuff, here's the overview shot:

Stash stuff: A huge bunch of trims (in the bag), several cards of buttons, fabric remnants, and yarn (looks like Homespun). Then there are three necklaces from the thrift store for me to recon. The best part is the denim bag. It has this great flower applique on it:

The inside is lined with the same batik as the applique. It's really well-done, and I love batik fabrics. The top zips up so when I throw my bag onto the passenger seat of the car, everything won't fall out into the cracks between the seats.

Thanks so much, mclianne!

Okay, so I did in fact receive a little while ago, but haven't had the time to upload pictures!  Leeska sent me a great swap package...I can't even believe she made so much stuff:

There are seriously (no really, I'm not exaggerating) TWENTY pairs of earrings:

She also gave me three necklaces that I can wear looped or single strand, and they match all of the earrings too!

She also included leftover stuff to make more earrings with (something I definitely want to learn how to do), several skeins of yarn, and a little jewelry instruction set from the internet.

Let's see a few more of those great earrings up close, shall we?

Thank you so much, Leeska!  I've already worn some of it to work, and have gotten lots of compliments.

Leeska, you could not have picked a more grateful person to make that many earrings for - I gave two pairs to a friend for a birthday present, another two to my roommate, and maybe a few more will be gifted...but for the most part they're ALL MINE!!!  I totally needed 12 pairs of earrings.  Totally.

a little late, but here's (most) of the stuff I got from carole73:

She sent: slippers with the extra yarn, a stone gargoyle that sits on my monitor to ward of bad vibes, books/crafty items for my ATCs, a unicorn figurine which i forgot to photograph as well as a Quebec keychain (from her homeland, and I do speak French).  All in all, some nifty stuff from the land over the border.  I think I might pop in to the next round too :)

I received from craftydeb!!  Not only a FABULOUS organizer, but also an incredible crafter!  She spoiled my family to death!  Sorry about all the pictures, but I have to show off all of the wonderful things she sent!

She sent several patterns of things I can make the kids.  I already have fabric picked out for one of them.

She sent a bag full of sewing goodies...

She sent a Christian fiction book with a bookmark she made for me (I love pink!)...

She sent WONDERFUL pink washclothes for the kitchen.  I really love these...especially the ones with the ruffly edges...

She sent a pre-printed piece of fabric so I can make my first stuffed animal with it...

She sent AWESOME dinosaurs for my boys.  She even put their names on them.  They adore them.

And my favorite thing she sent is this bunny for my daughter.  Miss Megan just HAD to sleep with it tonight too.  She loves it.  Bunny is her newest word now...  (Get ready to wist...Deb said this is her own pattern, and she might be selling them soon. ;))

The other thing she sent are these two little red and white circle things (no clue what they are called), but she said I can use them for a ruffle on the bottom of some pants for Miss Megan.  I adore that idea, and plan to work on those next week.  ;)  I didn't get a pic of them though.

Thank you SO much, Deb.  This swap has been so much fun for me.  I love bargain hunting, and will definitely be signing up for round two.  I just wish your doggy fit in his bed. :-[

I don't know how to hand knit - I only machine knit - The two with the loops are crocheted potholders - but can be used as hotpads or washcloths I am sure.  That pattern is the magic potholder - my grandmother used to make those - that pattern has been around for ages!  I did crochet around the edges on the knitted washcloths.  I normally would make up a kitchen towel holder thingy too but ran out of yarn  :D

I did most of the crocheting while sitting in carlines waiting to pick up my kids from school - the bunny I designed up while Logan was playing a video game and needed me to help him - and the carline too... Love those carlines!  I get quite a bit of crocheting done there - that is MY crochet time not work's!  ;) Okay, unless I am totally behind then I might as well sleep with a crochet hook in my hand ors something!

I am so tickled that you liked it all and your kids are soooo cute!!  Extra bonus points for cuteness!

The bookmark I machine embroidered... another thing I don't do by hand unless I absolutely have to - embroidery!

I looove making lace!
Which is kind of funny since I am not a girly girl but I do love making lace.

I received from Hammycakes. I was hoping for a earring holder or a postcard album and I got both! ;D

First an earring holder. This had made me very, very happy :D My husband thought I was hilarious because I was all excited at the prospect of arranging my earrings in colour blocks :P I had a fun Saturday night doing this and then putting postcards in my album :P

There is a mermaid detail on the frame because I like mermaids and the frame is bluer than in the picture.

I also got an album for my postcard collection with a matching journal.

And - a very cool teas towel - to show my love of cats. It goes well in my funky red , black and cream kitchen.

And some crafty bits and pieces. I have a bag one of the appilques will look great on.

If you have better pics of the earring stand please post them, hammycakes. I couldn't find decent batteries for the camera and the pics are a little dark.

Saor-great idea about the postcards. I collect them too but never thought to put them in an album-duh! I just have them in a file folder or all over the side of the frig but that's no fun!

My kids put their postcards in photo albums - along with their pictures.. it is cute - they have all the postcards my parents have ever sent them from the islands!

thanks on the dinos and bunny.  I had a great time creating them.  If it involves fluff, I am loving it!

The gallery looks fantastic!

I'm sorry to hear about your food poisoning, knickertwist - I hope your family feels better! It was a lot of fun to craft for you.

I know we're talking a little while ago, but Coral, I'm very impressed at your yarn-unravelling dedication. I have never tried doing that and it is such a great idea. It sounds like an efficient way to spend a dollar or two in round two.

I received from my second partner today, which is gala_apples.

3 paq. of beads (I love the yellow sorta leaves ones, they'll make great stitch markers)
1 paq. of earrings things, or charms. (the paq. was open and unfortunately one broke during travel  :()
2 necklaces, which I don't know if she made them or not. There was no letter, no breakdown in the package  ???

Title: Re: Bargain Hunter Swap Gallery~
Post by: gala_apples on August 20, 2007 01:46:27 PM
sigh. well, i wrote one, so the question now becomes which package it got mailed into.

red beads= 2 dollars
coppery charms= 1 dollar
glass leaves= .65
white and red necklace was picked up at a thrift store for a dollar.
the pink necklace was my crafted item, you said you liked pink, a store i frequent was selling gorgeous pink beads for 6/a dollar. it took 30 to make your necklace, so 5 dollars for the pink necklace.
total= 9.65

it sucks that the metal charms broke. they were probably my favourite item, i liked the flowery details.

there's my book with an awesome dragon bookmark, and dragon phone charm, a dragon covered notebook, which is so cool cause I can change the notebook when it's finished.
some zippers n buttons, a crochet hook pouch.

and the biggest bestest.....a HOT PUSSY

yep that right a hot pussy *giggle* oooo that sounds naughty.

it's a wheat filled pack with lavender in it and my daughter promptly nicked off with it.

I got a package in the mail from cyndiq too - and she spoiled me completely rotten!
I am going to get pics up tomorrow as it is late here - today was nuts - picked up one kid at school, went to the store, waited in the carline to pick up Logan, came home, gave the boys a quick snack, off to swimming class, came home, made dinner and left less than 45 minutes after getting home to go to a cub scout meeting.  wow.

and I found a short curly gray hair in the front of my hairline... right smack dab in the middle
What is up with that????!!!!

I looooved my package and can't wait to show off pictures!
It was literally like a circus car - the more I looked the more stuff came out of this package!

yay!!  so glad my parcels made it there safely.

I got crafty debs package. fabulous!

Just going to take a pic and load it shortly so will be back to update.

Yeah I love the hotpussy heat packs, they stretch around your neck or knee or back. I love mine.
re HOTPUSSY   ::) ... I know tanza likes sleepy cats and wanted a wheat pack so I hoped this would be perfect for her.

re sending hot pussy's ...to usa..
I can't send the actual wheat overseas but I can send the cat all sewn and you just fill it yourself and hand sew the small holes. So I might start doing that if people want one.

bronzfrog pm me if you want, I could personal swap one so let me know any time (says me just after i have sworn to cut back on swapping! lol). You can also fill with rice they just dont stay as hot for long but still for an hour or so good for aches and pains. rice ones can be used as cold packs too i guess as long as u sealed it into a bag in the freezer, never wet em.

ok i better go take pics and come back.....

cyndi

That yarn is lovely!

Man I wish I could knit ... or crochet ... or do anything beautious with yarn. Perhaps it's a good thing I don't. I suspect my crafting budget would sky rocket if I had a reason to buy pretty yarns.

Hi everyone here is my goodies from crafty deb.
A memory card holder pouch for my embroidery machine blank memory cards. 2 packets of needles for my machine!
Some gorgeous fabric for the boys in my life.
Some great patterns to sew and some yummy sweettarts.
Thanks so much deb.

The memory card holder is such a good idea.

Title: Re: Bargain Hunter Swap Gallery~
Post by: Yarn or Fabric on August 22, 2007 05:54:34 AM
I really hope it is okay - the memory card holder.  I tried to mimic the needle book in your wists as best as I could - minus the beads.  That I couldn't find for cheap and the ones that snobby lobby had were so boring - they didn't have an assorted pack of cool beads.

Here are *some* pics of things that I got from cyndiq - fresh off the camera... I should have taken pics right after opening the package - it was just astounding ... literally a circus car of craft packages - and just a ton of stuff.
The kids have already eaten most of the candy... already gotten the tattoos and have had a field day there.  there was an eye patch and fake moustache for Collin to wear - he has already run off with that.. a belt to go with the amazing pirate costume - Collin has now officially decided to be a pirate for halloween - THANK YOU!!!!  He has been changing his mind every day and now he is settled.  He is tickled with his pirate costume!
There were keychains for the kids - clippy koalas - yeah, they toted them off too - and a boomerang one and one with a kangaroo and the shape of Australia.. just a ton of stuff...

and nobody wants to go near the vegemite...  :D

Pillow case!!! Patterns for stuffies (they are soooooooo cute!)
an amazing craft magazine - do we have anything like this here?  I told my husband I want a subscription to a magazine like that - just an assortment of really cool things in it!

a rocket shirt for Logan and a book on making paper flying things - and we have a birthday party coming up so that will come in handy!  We are going to have paper plane flying contests!

oop a closer up on the embroidery on the pillow case - and it is so soft and silky and a deep chocolate brown - perfect color combos for me!

candy.. buttons... wicked cool trim... frangipani cell phone charms (one is for my mother)... and did I say candy?... just so much fun stuff. I  know I am forgetting something...

aaarrrrg matey!

oh and the needle holder bag - already in use!  I loaded it up right away.  Very ingenious - looks like a pouch but it is a hook holder - there are slots for the hooks inside!  How cool is that?

And for someone that didn't think she could get awesome deals - she left the price tags on the patterns - they were originally $13 and were marked down to $1 each!  Awesome find!
I will be making those cute guys next!  I have a baby shower to go to and didn't know what I wanted to make - now I do!!!

I just recieved the most fantastic parcel from Saor!
First of all, I love receiving things from overseas- it makes me feel so cosmopolitian  ;D
In the package were the most adorable little turtle earrings ( wearing them now). There was a lovely herbal smelling lipgloss, some "bling" rhinestones, a polka dotted scarf, and brooches made of scrap felt and hand dyed wool. She even included a package of little pom pom animal kits for my girls. They made a bunch of cyclops with them which are very cute and funny looking, they love swaps as much as I do.
The biggest and best thing though was a reusable shopping bag knitted from kitchen string and twine. It was her own design and it's exactly what I asked for. So, so impressive!
She is a swap partner to make the pickiest swapper happy, you should all be so lucky.  ;)

I would post pictures, but my battery died so if you would like to post some Saor that would be fine, otherwise we will have to wait a day or two til I make it to the store.

Thanks again!

I am so glad you got it and you liked everything! Phew :D

I'll post pictures later.

This is the bag I made. I am proud of it but had a love/hate relationship with it when I was making it ;D I couldn't find any bargain cotton so I started making it in ordinary string and used a drop stitch. I made up the pattern as I went along and got quite stuck at one stage. I think I'll make myself one next. I dyed the wool for the blue flower with KoolAid.

I really like the turtle beads I used for the earrings -they weren't a bargain but I thought they were cute and hammycakes would like them :D The felt scraps for the second flower were donated by a friend.

I am glad the girls liked the craft set hammycakes - I thought the litle animals looked ;D cute

I made a sewing kit and mushroom thumb tacks from her Wists.  I also included some Hello Panda, tags, bento box dividers, and some stickers that aren't pictured.  The other little box with the leaf on it has the extra fabric, ribbon and supplies.

Here are the contents of the sewing kit, including the pin cushion I also made :)

I hope you enjoy it, Veludo!

well my partner received her package a while ago, so i guess i'll post some pictures of the item i crafted for baby-bumblebee.

it is the sweet pea shawl from snbhh made in white sugar n cream cotton yarn. it took about 2/3 of a large skein that i found on clearance for $5. i wanted to make her something pretty that could actually be useful in blistering florida weather, so i figured a cotton shawl (i think i read somewhere that she likes cotton yarn a lot) would be nice for 'chilly' fall evenings. no pictures of the other things i included, but it was just leftover yarn from the shawl, a few balls of sugar n cream in brown and light blue, and some embroidery kits that were on uber-clearance. yaaaay.

Gel transfer is so fab! But you really have to use a lot of it otherwise the picture doesn't stick well enough to the fabric. & when you are rubbing the paper off the picture will start to come off to!

I'm glad you like your surprise package! :) After I fixed the T-shirt (brand new & free!!! We like those kinda bargains!), I couldn't send it all that way without company! :)
