I received my package from ptarmic_wumpus yesterday! I got some really amazing stuff, and everything came with adorable explanatory notes. I will upload some pictures soon, and I've asked if she has any before shots. She has got some mad-felting skillz... you'll see soon enough ;)

I glad you like it, millik! I was a total spaz and thought I had already taken pics  when I hadn't taken any at all, and didn't realize it until after I shipped  ::)  I could take a pic of carrot V1, that Kahlua (my troublemaking kitty) stole off of the table and devoured when I left the room for 30 seconds, but it is a bit the worse for wear at this point.

I also spilled catnip all over the carpet, so my cats have been enjoying this swap a lot so far....

Okay! This post is going to have a lot of pictures. They're all different sizes because I'm too lazy to edit them properly :P

First, there's this cat tote bag. It's awesome for many reasons: It's roomy, it's got a cat FELTED ONTO IT, it has a cool lining, and it's made from a thrifted sweater!

Then we have this apron, which I requested, but I asked for the subject matter to be a surprise. The awesome thing is that it is big enough to fit my fat behind. :) It is made from a thrifted bedsheet! Here I am posing with my apron immediately after opening my swap package. I grabbed the two closest things to me that said "kitchen" and struck a pose:

Here's a close-up of the veggies:

In the pocket of the apron was this felted hot pad. It is too cool (felted fire?! sweet!) and I'm going to probably sew a loop on it so I can hang it up in the kitchen and take it down only for special occassions :)

... there's more! ptarmic wumpus FELTED ME A SKULL BOWL. I kid you not. Here he is, basking in the glory of his awesomeness, and another shot of him chillin' with my other skull. He is going to be our halloween candy dish, for sure.

And last, but not least, she sent me fruits and veggies kitty toys! In the pics you can see Carrot v.2, the eggplant being fondled by our black kitty, and the obligatory cat-in-the-box-your-stuff-came-in shot. ptarmic wumpus also made a lime, but I didn't get a shot of it right away and it has now gone missing (has catnip, will travel).

i received from my awesome partner, serialcrafter, today!!  ;D i'm uploading pictures right now, but here's the list... here's pics!!

she sent:
- embroidered pillowcases with kitties on them!  adorable, and they match EXACTLY the comforter i just bought... i think she's been watching me ;)

- necklace and earring holders (with a pretty pair of earrings)! i so needed these, especially the one with the hooks so my necklaces/bracelets won't constantly be tangled

and an action shot, because i put them up almost immediately  :D

- a collapsible box! i love organizational stuff like this.  and the colors are totally perfect for me.  :)

- toys for my kitties

- extra fabric

- a cat bed! my cats are a little wary of it, but i'm sure they'll love it eventually  ;)

THANK YOU, SERIALCRAFTER!!!  your package will be in the mail very soon! :)

I'm SO glad you like the stuff!  Have to say, I was very nervous since this was my cherry swap.  I love how the jewelry holders go with the one you already had!  Just got lucky with the pillowcases and the comforter!

This is such a fun swap!  I can hardly wait to see what other folks did, and what Catpants is doing for me too.  The brain runs wild!

Terrific swaps in the gallery and it's  nice to see that the cats are being well taken care of, too! Had a chunk of time taken out thanks to work --what else--but expect  to get my swaps to orange_sunset early next week. I hope hope hope she likes them!

Great swaps!  I really love that cat bag!  And the jewelry frames were sorely needed eh miss catpants?  Your jewelry looks great on them.

Today I finish my last item for Mezzi and then off it goes...by Tuesday anyhow!  Monday is for packing it.  :D

What fun!  Can't wait to see more.

Cool...I like the pillowcases and the earring holders.  My earrings are in a box on my necklace pegboard, and it's a pain to fish a matching pair out when I'm in a hurry.  What did you make them with?  I'm guessing some kind of mesh in fabric-covered frames.

Also, finished my last item for The Noodle Princess today!  Now to take pictures, then pack up.  ;D

Title: Re: Use What You Have Swap (round two!) Gallery
Post by: serialcrafter on October 16, 2006 06:32:20 AM
Thanks.  I had some leftover copper mesh that needed to be loved and some frames in the closet.  A little glue, a little staple gun, and their done.  Had to do a little inset in the frame before I covered it because I didn't have enough mesh to go across.

Catpants!  I think I love you!

My amazing swap partner (and organizer I might add) sent me some awesome goodness!  I love it all!

I got:
a great fix for my love of all things purple.  A knitted purple headband (which I'm wearing now and I love), a beautiful purple pincushion with star pins, and a gorgeous necklace that fits me perfectly!

Next up, an amazing felted bag from a thrifted sweater with a really cute felted pin attached.  I'm using this tomorrow.

That's not all.  A Swap Journal!  Now I can keep my journal from my very first swap!!!!!  I so wanted one of these and I just love the colors.

and last, but certainly not least, a purple knitted cat toy filled with catnip that Micah promptly grabbed and claimed for his very own.

Tracy, you outdid yourself and I love it all.  Thank you for making my first swap so much FUN!  And you're right.  I am addicted already!

Here's pics of what I sent to Moonoverbrooklyn.

Some mary jane crocheted slippers, which unfortunately didn't turn out *quite* big enough! (but her sister is reaping the benefits)

The buttons are hot pink and are vintage. I got 'em from Taloola in another swap. :)

Sushi potholders! These are a specialty of mine.

A headband with cute froggies on, since Moonoverbrooklyn is a big animal person:

And lastly, a lined zippered pouch with ric-rac handle and sock monkeys on!

I'm glad you liked everything, Moonoverbrooklyn!

The rest of you, wait till you see what she sent me! Coming up...

Here's what Moonoverbrooklyn sent to me. You all are not going to believe that this is her first swap! It arrived yesterday and I am STILL in awe.

First, a gorgeous silver necklace with a city skyline. Moonoverbrooklyn, I'm dying to know how you made this!

Blurry action shot of same. The length is perfect.

Clay Food! A piece of chocolate cake, s'mores ingredients, and what I am pretty sure is an ice cream sandwich. And a darn cute one at that. In the foreground is a yarn needle, for size reference.

Two lovely pen-and-ink drawings of celtic knots, framed. Craftster won't let me upload these at a very high resolution, so you'll just have to trust me that the stipple shading is very impressive.

Last, but certainly not least, she batiked six fabric panels for me! They're each about 8x8 (but catpants, don't get any ideas!)

The one in the lower right hand corner of the first picture says "I [heart] " and has a picture of a gnome. Does she have my number or what?

Thanks very much for everything, Moonoverbrooklyn! I've had a blast swapping with you and continue to be incredibly impressed with all of my loot. :D

that necklace is amazing (is the skyline sort of etched in? maybe it's pmc?)

It might be PMC-- I really have no idea!-- but I do know that the skyline and the moon (it has to be the moon, right?) are cut out of a separate sheet of metal and attached to the rectangular back piece somehow.  I really love it. It's about to show up on lots of wists, I suspect.

She also sent me a really cute headband which my daughter already ran off with and 2 really cute pairs of earrings. The seed bead ones which I fell instantly in love had one of the tube beads suffer a bit of a smashing in the mail however Ive been wearing them anyways they're to cool not too! ;D

Eeeep, I received from groschveux today!

I'm in the city for college this week, but I'll post pictures on Friday, unless groschveux has any pictures to post?

Thank you sweetie, everything is a-m-a-z-i-n-g - it really cheered me up!  :-*

Your welcome suzeeannie!
Here's a few pictures of the stuff I made for her.

Made these three "fabric-lace-rickrack-paint" on canvas type things. I was inspired by the this crow stencil (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=75911.80) made by knottydottie.

Fabric cuff

I also made her a blank notecard (black, red and white color theme) with fabric sewn on it and gave her a pack of red rickrack.

Hope I get mine soon.  :)

I received the first of a two-part package from millik today.  With no mode ado, here are the exciting goodies!

A Hunt the Wumpus board game! See the little embroidered Wumpus game piece? Hee!

(my avatar is from a very early computer game called Hunt the Wumpus, if you are totally confused at this point)

A framed embroidered sea slug to go with my sea slug themed decor!

A decoupaged lightswitch plate to liven up my boring white walls:

A fortune-telling fish and japanese paper folding sculpture:

And the cat-trying-to-get-into-the-box-it-came-in photo  ;D

Plus a bonus remnant of Carrot V 1

Thanks so much millik, I love everything!

Squee! Even with (or perhaps because of?) the odd mail-truck time trials that were spontaneously held on my street today, I received my wondifferous package from SewPixie today!  Everything was so nicely wrapped up and with a lovely note as well - here's a nice group shot after opening :

and individually, here's the wonderful geisha bag - I can just hear things in my room begging to be kept in this ;)

Front and back of the beautiful pincushion - great timing, since mom and I have been fighting over our one pincushion while we sew ;)

(pay no attention to the healing skin allergies....)

The awesome dpn needle roll!  I've already started sorting my double-points into their new home :D

And some lovely stitch markers to keep my needles company:

And last but certainly not least, this incredible bag, with plenty of room for sketchbooks or RPG books!
I didn't even realize it had an inner pocket until I picked it up and found gum! (and thanks for that, too, by the way - not only is it tasty for me, but you just bought me an hour or so of respite from my friend's daughter's constant whine of 'want gum! want gum!' while I'm babysitting her on Wednesday  ;D )

Everyone here is completely blown away by your sewing skills - my mom and fiance have both been eyeing up the geisha pouch all evening ;).  Thankyouthankyouthankyou! You've been a great swap partner, and thank you too, catpants, for setting me up with such an amazing partner for my first swap.

I'm so happy it arrived so quick! Hehehe love the sheet too. I wonder if I would get odd looks at work if I tried to wear the skirt I made form the same sheet design to work. hmmm

And yay the dps weren't too tall for the roll. I looked online at stough-bought ones to get an idea for sizing.

Thanks for the nice words about the crow art and cuff.
I had fun making all this stuff. Here (http://img106.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img0103tb9.jpg) is a bigger/better picture of the fabric art.

While doing this swap, I realized how much arts and craft supplies I had in the house.  :o  It's like a mini craft/fabric store.

Wow that art is fantastic. You may have already anwered this, is the zipper design by you or is is a ribbon?

It's actually fabric! 'Zip It' by Michael Miller.
This is where I had bought the fabrics from, when it came out, back in August:

It was love at first sight!  :D

Extra yay!-ness - I thought the gum in the green pack was spearmint until I actually put a piece in my mouth and found out it's green apple!  I don't think I even mentioned how much I love green apple flavored stuff  ;D  Three cheers for SewPixie!

Eep, it's taking quite a while to get to you. Apparently It's in Memphis right now, inching ever closer!

I received my goodies from suzeeannie today! I can't post pictures until next week probably because my sister borrowed it for a few days. Maybe suzeeannie can post some for me.
List of the things she sent me:
a red feather
a cute stretchy ring
handmade notecard
a flower cushion
hummingbird painting

Thank you suzeeannie!

Gosh, I'm such a dope, I always forget to take pictures before I send. Sorry ...  :-\

I'm really glad you like everything though, the cushion was my first attempt with ink-jet transfers so I was quite pleased with it :)

I received from The Noodle Princess today!  She sent such a perfect package:

A gorgeous needle roll...I had one wisted
Knit and beaded leaf stitch markers...how did you know I've turned into a stitch marker freak over the summer?
Branchy seed beaded earrings...which were also wisted
A beautiful woodburned tree pendant...I'm also a pendant nut

As soon as I pulled the needle roll out of the envelope, I ran over to my knitting drawer and sorted this mess

Into this

Thank you!

Great items! The leaf stitch markers look really lovely.

Speaking of lovely, that fantasic Inara's package arrived today. As soon as DH got hom to let me into the house (I fogot my keys at work and locked myself out  :P ) I saw the box. Everything was nicely wrapped in tissue paper with nice little notes on everything. :)

A sock for my DL lite. Fits perfect and the colors are great!

A nive shopping bag. This is will be perfect for when I walk to the grocery on the weekends. Shown here with some groceries from my cabinets.

OMG!! My very own library pass for Miskatonic University! For those you may not know, that is the New England university featured in many HP Lovecraft stories. Totally awsome! DH is way jealous. woohoo

Lovecraft themed t-shirt. The colors are gorgeous! I love the coppery color. I am very much in awe of Inara stenciling skills. I am a beginner. Doncha love the 'i have been sitting on the poarch all night and had meetings all day' look on my face.  :D

Hahaha. And a sleeping mask...a Tom Nook (from Animal Crossing) sleeping mask. Comfy and it looks hysterical. Love it.

Thank you Inara! You were a wonderful swap partner.

Cotneyroo wrote me yesterday that she had received my package. (YEAH!!:-)
She asked me to post pictures of what I made. I hope she liked it all- the poncho was the bane of my existence for a while there trying to get it done in time!  ;D roflmao
**edited to add....**
Oh yeah, She wrote in her note to me that the clapotis was temporarily the bane of her existence, so isn't it amazing how things even out in the end? hee hee

I made her this poncho with 10 skeins of super duper soft Jaeger wool ;D
(Sorry the lighting isn't the best)

Close up detail (it's a thick & thin type yarn):

Here are 3 greeting cards I made her:

And last but not least 4 shrinky dink beaded stitch markers: The last one you cant read to well in the pic, it says "I knit therefore I am" with pictures of scarves on it. :-) ( PS I really AM a Yarn Ho!, hee hee)

Hugs
Elphalba

Lovely stitch markers.  And much admiration for being able to knit a poncho and stick with it to completion.  My own knitting project was considerably smaller, but I generally don't have a long knitting attention span.

I didn't take pix before I sent but catpants said it'd be okay -- and I'm hoping catharctic! --if I post what I sent--
--a Moogle! I have to say this turned out really great. Mixed media, sewing, painting, felt, wire.

--a skull wallet. FAb fabric. Inside I put a hand crafted tea bag holder--the envelope part --with a unicorn printed on it and inside of that, a tea bag.
--an asian themed cuff--sewn.
Both the wallet and the cuff were lined.

I've learned to TAKE PICTURES before you send cause you never know. catpants is giving it one more day, then she'll ask for an angel on that board so she's been really supportive. Hooray to catpants!!

serialcrafter - how did you make that kitty bed?  That looks soooo adorable!

I can't take credit for that one.  That piece was store bought and rejected by my cats.  Catpants was wishing for a cat bed and I had an extra, so it went in the box.  I let her know it wasn't crafted though.

From the looks of it, it's just a braided rug sewn into a basket shape.  Probably could be crafted, but currently beyond my ability.

I received from Groschveux (not sure when, exactly, because the mail arrives irratically around here sometimes) and I think I'm the luckiest girl ever!!!!

She made this cute, cute bag with neat magnetic closures:

A matching quilted sunglasses case  :o:

And a skirt I am absolutely in LOVE with! It hits right at my knees which is really hard to find in a skirt, but my favorite length.
Front:

Back:

And some gorgeous notions - rickrack, lace, and beautiful grosgrain ribbon:

Everything is wonderful and just perfect for me. I am in awe of you and your crafting skills. Thank you so much, Groschveux!!

Great action shots, Liebschien!
Ok, the skirt use to be mine but I didn't make it. It was sitting in my sewing room for a while because the zipper in the back was broken. After reading that you love those colors together and searching through your previous posts to see if I could find a clue as what your waist size could be, I thought that it was a good time to fix that skirt and send it to you. I'm so happy to see that it fits you. Nice booty shot by the way!  ;)

Your welcome sweetie!
I had a good time crafting for you.

I received a fantastic swap package from veludo! (And I can't believe how quickly it got here from Portugal!)

She made me the most amazing scarf, which I'm so in love with, pretty earrings and a bracelet, a little coin purse, and a fun pin. Everything was so prettily wrapped too, in colorful paper and rick-rack. Didn't take a picture of the wrapped stuff though, was far too impatient.

Here's everything!

Thanks Carla! I love everything! Hope you get your package soon...

Okay Kiki*eks received a package from me a week ago or so and I'm posting some pics of what I sent.

Fingerless gloves, a felt pouch, flower brooches, necktie wallet, catnip toys, and some coasters made on a Love & Money loom

She wisted some fingerless gloves, and so I knitted some up.

Here is a close up of the embroidered pouch (hope she doesn't mind that i'm posting her real name) and the felt flower brooches.

I had lots of fun making these goodies!

Yesterday, I received the package Liebschien sent me. She did most of her crafting based on things listed on my wists.

Love the little kitty. The original one was made by parapluies-noir, and I had him listed on my wists. Sooo cute and cuddly!
I can't believe she made me a "wheelie" (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring05/PATTwheelie.html)! I needed one in a bad way. In the winter my hands freeze because the steering wheel is so cold. And in the summer, when the car is parked in the sun, my poor little fingers get burned from holding on to it. ::)

On this picture below, you can see 3 lovely blank notecards she made from cutting pages from one of my all time favorites, Le Petit Prince by Antoine De Saint-Exupery. She also sent me a coffee scrub. I know nothing about soap making but let me tell you...this one looks good enough to eat. Next to it is a great kazanshi flower pin. This flower will be spending some time pined up on my jean jacket. ;) And lastly, Altoids Sour Chewing Gum! I've never had Altoids before. The notecard with the dragonfly was made by devilninny in another swap. Liebschien used it to write me a note.

MERCI BEAUCOUP LIEBSCHIEN!  :-*

You know I didn't think of that - just had that fabric sitting around for ages, it's pretty old. The pattern on the inside are little leaves.
But feathers... hey yeah, I thought of that... ;) LOL  when I get settled, I will definitely join this swap again since I have way to much in my craft stash & I will need to lighten up soon.

I received from kiki*eks today!  A package marked 1 of 2, how exciting.  So, I quickly took pictures so I could wear/use the items!

Here's a pretty vinyl makeup bag pouch (front & back):

It has a green zipper, which I really like for some reason.  I'm not sure what I'm going to put in it, makeup or craft supplies.  It will definately be useful (I have stuff all over the living room as we speak)

Here are some neat fall themed earrings, which I really like alot.

And she sent this lovely necklace, which I was super excited about.  After I saw the one she sent cornflakegirly, I really wanted one too!    Also I immediately put the necklace on after taking pictures!

Thanks so much kiki*eks, love it all!

So glad you like it.  You almost didn't get the frog, but I made sure to stitch an extra one for me while I had the sewing machine out.  The funny thing is that I didn't even like the scent of lavender until I made the beanbags...I was just planning at first to fill mine with only wheat.  ;D

The second part of my package from millik arrived!  Here's a photo of everything all at once:

There is a handbound journal for my mother (which the retro fabric cover), two zines, a cookbook, and some jingly cat toys!

Here's an action shot of Mr. Smiley investigating one of the toys:

Thanks so much for all the great stuff, millik!

I'm so sorry it took me so long to finally get that stuff together :( Thank you for being a very kind and patient swap partner. It was also really sweet of you to post pictures. I'm glad that the kitties enjoyed their cubes... I hope they don't drive you too terribly insane with the jingling (always with the jingling!!)

The post office was super-speedy with that one, which is good news for people who are running behind on sending their holiday packages *ahem-me-ahem*

Thanks again and I'm glad you liked it :)

PS - I wanted to make sure that everyone knows the cat zine is not mine... it was photographed and edited by my better half ;)
