Title: northern view of "fashion" scarf
Post by: yukonviolet on July 30, 2006 04:18:34 PM
This weekend was the Pelly Art something or other here in Faro and they had some craft demonstrations.  One lady was demonstrating crochet so I had brought my latest project: a spiral scarf.  The lady was a senior citizen I should add.  I brought out my scarf and she wanted to know what it was.  I said a spiral scarf.  People came over to look at it and everyone figured it was a pretty useless scarf and wondered why you would wear a scarf as a fashion accessory.  I feel out of my element her sometimes even though I am not a really fashionable person (my glasses broke in June and the arm is held together with duct tape until I get to Whitehorse on Friday).  At least my 3 year old had fun making paper and there was a wild meat BBQ potluck.

Still I take my 2 puppies for a walk with my baby in a backpack and son beside me and look at the beautiful scenery and still love the north (and the housing is dirt cheap in Faro).

I'd like to see the scarf as well.

Sometimes I feel the opposite way you do. Living in NY, especially in the midst of Williamsburg Brooklyn (famous for hipsters), I feel like sometimes people OVER accessorize. I feel half the clothes they wear are superfluous. Kind of detracts from the specialness of the accessories if you ask me. Highlighting a piece you are wearing by making it the one special thing can be nice I think.
