Title: Rasterbation
Post by: lump on July 15, 2006 07:09:02 PM
I'm pretty sure this post goes here--
I did this a while back, only got around to snapping a photo. My first-and probably last--rasterbation. We have a huge wall above the couch and it was just blank, waiting patiently for me to come up with an idea. Thanks to this site, I found the rasterbation site and went to town.(does anyone else think that word is funny?)  I glued all these pages onto chipboard, had 6 large panels instead of tons of pages. Then I painted over it all with watercolor, and bought huge rolls of laminate. Ta-da!

 ;D

Thanks, all...

I actually found this picture on a tattoo site, which the name of it escapes me now.
Luckily, I work in a print shop, so printing it out was easy.
It's about 68 pages-big.

Awesome....what size did you use when you rasterbated it (yes I think the word is really funny)? I think I wanna do this picture or find a similar tattoo flash style and paint it....yours turned out awesome!

wow that looks great you've done such a good job did you say you painted in all the colour yourself? and why do you say it is your first and last time, did you find any major difficulties with it?? my boyfriend showed me this rastermation malarkey recently on the website for it there is a gallery and there are some other AMAZING projects on there, shame i dont own my own house yet, but when i do i think i'll be pimping it with rasterbation *giggles like a school girl at the silly word*

I say first and last because it was such a huge task. Sitting on the floor in the living room for hours really cramps up yer bones! There were a few difficulties, but the end result made them worth it. By difficulties I mean things like matching up all the pages, gluing them all down, painting them, etc. There really wasn't a lot of room to work in, so if anyone thinks about a big rasterbation like this, I would consider clearing some space. I can't even remember how big it is exactly...I vaguely remember measuring it at about 6 feet by 8 feet, give or take. So that's probably why I would be discouraged to do another, I like to go all out. I'm sure if I did a smaller one, there would be no problem in convincing me to do more of them.
I really like them, for sure. Thank you to whoever started "rasterbating". The fact that you can take such a small picture and enlarge this way just rocks. Good-bye Kinko's!

great job though, it's beautiful. did you print it out in colour then just paint over it?

i saw the same idea in a readymade magazine and looked up the site.  it was easy, but now i just have to get my butt to kinkos or staples to print them out.

and yes, i thought that was a rather funny word.  rhymes with........ Casterbation  ;)
