Creative thoughts from Craftster Guest Blogger MareMare…
You might be wondering just what a mug rug is. It’s a tiny placemat. Or a giant coaster. Or a small work of art. Or possibly just a mini project for quilters to practice on. Whatever you might think a mug rug is, one thing is true—it seems like these cute little projects are on every quilter’s to-do list these days! Since they are a quick, instant gratification type project they are great to make while taking a break from a larger project or to practice a new piecing or quilting technique on. Here’s an adorable mug rug from Craftster member playswithneedles. She paper pieced a quarter of a color wheel pattern to give it a wedge shape, but mug rugs can be in any shape you care to dream up! Interested in giving it a try? Check out the Mug Rug Swap for inspiration! 🙂 |
