Welcome to the Cutting (& Stitching) Edge! I’m Mr X Stitch and I’ll be your guide to the best in contemporary embroidery. Each week I’ll showcase someone who is rocking the world of embroidery and textiles.
For the next few weeks, the Cutting (& Stitching) Edge is sharing the work of LA-based Nike Schroeder.
Last week we shared some of her Edgar Herbst series, and we have some more pieces from that series for you here.
Nike has recently completed a couple of self-portraits, which gives a further indication of her mad skills and wry sense of humour…
I really enjoy the illustrative style of these pieces. They remind me of Marloes Duyker and Meagan Ileana, and but the energy and wit in the pieces makes them unique.
In case you missed it, we also featured Nike in the latest NSFW Saturday post with her Flesh Ideal pieces. It’s great stuff!
You can find out more about Nike on her website, but be sure to check back here in a fortnight for more of her terrific work!
