Welcome to the Cutting (& Stitching) Edge! I’m Mr X Stitch and I’ll be your guide to the best in contemporary embroidery. Each week I’ll showcase someone who is rocking the world of embroidery and textiles.
——————–
Emily Eibel is a mixed media artist based in Brooklyn, New York.
She uses applique to great effect, creating vignettes and pictures that are both charming and slightly macabre.
Her cartoon style allows to explore the darker side of life, which she does with great skill and humour. The work is superbly executed and it is no surprise that she is a sought after artist.
Emily has done for companies and magazines and, quite frankly, her work is terrific. Check out her site, where you can see her drawings and explore her world via her blog.

Mr X Stitch is a manbroiderer, cross stitch designer and runs www.mrxstitch.com,
the number one contemporary embroidery and needlecraft blog on the planet.
He can often be found hanging out on the Craftster needlecraft boards, the Threadhead Collective on Facebook or at the Phat Quarter on Flickr.
Wow, these are spectacular! It’s a total cross-over of the craft and fine art world. Super!
