The process of fermenting foods is super trendy now. There are classes, books and videos about how to ferment any type of food you can imagine. Craftster member RaeRaggs shares her incredibly simple recipe and technique for making a classic Homemade Sauerkraut. While the entire process does take a bit of time, once you taste the difference in homemade and store-bought, you are more than willing to wait a little. RaeRaggs does use a specific type of crock, but you do not need to get that fancy. There are containers that will work as well (I’m looking at you food grade PVC bucket aka fermenter aka beer bucket). Once you have the technique down, try adding other spices to the cabbage for a unique flavor.

From old school techniques to new fusion recipes, our Cooking Board has something for everyone. Have fun playing with your food. Happy Monday!
