Heart Crayons Welcome to the second posting in our Tute Tuesday series! This week our featured tutorial is a sweet idea for making heart shaped crayons, made by our own Sweets4ever. She used them to entertain kids at her wedding, but they are fun any time! If you want to make your own, for yourself, or the kids in your life, Sweets4ever wrote up an awesome tutorial, so making your own will be a breeze! Enjoy the tute, and the lovely photos. Happy coloring!

This idea has so many possibilities. You can try it with other shaped tins, cookie cutters, and infinite color combinations. If you give it a try, be sure to share your results, we’d love to see what you make!

Have a favorite tutorial? Drop Batgirl a PM and we’ll consider it for a future Tute Tuesday feature.

How great are these! Such a simple idea, yet so colourful and cheerful – I wouldn’t want anyone to use them for colouring. Wonder if you could use them for something else. I will have a go at making these.
    Thanks for sharing:-)

This is great, i’ve never thought of making them in heart shapes.. i’m going to have to find those little heart shaped tins before V-day and make them with the kids 😀

  4. Naomi says:

Oh I’ve been wanting to make these again! I used to make them all the time when I was little. I’m having some at my wedding for the kids to play with.

Yay! Glad you guys like them! I think they would be fun to give out with gradeschool Valentine’s. My little on is only 3.5 months, but I’ll surely be doing that in a few years!

I love this idea! wonderful for my grandchildren. I heard that a person can do the same with recycling candle nib/nubs (?) almost the same way? it’s wonderful, thank you. 🙂

    Now this is cool!!!

I just made 165 of these for the kids table at my wedding in June. The tutorial was great and these turned out so adorable!

I just made some of these – they turned out really well! I have an extra tip to share. Because they take a long time to dry, wait until a skin has formed on the top of each, then put them in a bowl of cold water. Make sure the whole crayon is soaked. They should then be cool enough to take out of the foil. Have fun. 🙂

Those are soo cute!! I made kind of the same thing for Valentines with my niece and nephew. We actually melted the crayons in regular muffin tins and then used small heart shape cookie cutters for heart shape. We made them into necklaces but using a wooden kabbob to make a hole in heart and then thread string/yarn through heart. They turned out soo cute and my niece had the Valentines hit of the classroom. All the kids were wearing them at recess!! Using the heart tins would have made melting the wax soo much easier!! Keep having fun crafting !!
