collage October is a time for Halloween costumes and candy, fun and parties, and scary movies. But this holiday started many centuries ago with ancient Pagan traditions of celebrating the harvest and preparing for the dark, cold winter to come. For those who practice Wicca, a modern form of the ancient pre-Christian religions, there is still a spiritual aspect to Samhain, the annual festival of harvest-time. It is a time to give thanks for loved ones who have passed away, and for the earth’s bounty. Samhain is the most important holiday of the Wiccan calendar. Here are some of the beautiful crafts our Wiccan members have made to celebrate this and other important days in their tradition (and ordinary days as well!). Have a great Samhain!
