Crafting for Good

blog4 Did you make a New Year’s resolution this year? I did, and it’s to try every day to do an act of kindness. There are a lot of ways one can help others using their crafting skills, and here are a few ideas I just love.

Inspired by Little Dresses for Africa, mirandarenee sewed a whole slew of dresses to be given to girls in a Liberian orphanage. I’m sure the bright colors and patterns will thrill those little girls.

What’s more fun than a barrel of monkeys? A bowl full of ducks! These ducks by Taragon will be left for random people to find. They serve to remind people about blood and organ donation. For more info, visit the Little Yellow Duck Project website. blog1
Undergoing numerous medical procedures can be so scary for a small child. Collecting beads of courage can help brighten their day. Beautifulsoul was once a recipient of these beads, and now she is paying it forward. For more info on this program, click here. blog5
bananaleg made colorful Good Samaritan bags for a church group to fill with necessary items to create care bags. These would be great filled with soap, deodorant, and shampoos. blog3
Here’s a sweet idea for kids who have to spend the night in shelters: a bag full of nighttime comforts. LadybugsAndBumblebees likes to fill the bags with a handmade blanket, a stuffed bear and a book, and often adds extras as well. Want to help? Visit Project Night Night to learn how. blog2

Be a force for good in 2017, and help make the world a better place. For more ideas of how crafting can help, make sure to visit the “Crafting for Good and Not Evil” board.
