EmilyFlew

EmilyFlew's mom crafted her whole life and she often helped her cook and sew clothes. She really got started crafting when her mom told her she was old enough that she had to make her own Halloween costumes. A great incentive!

She joined Craftster right in the beginning of it all. She loves seeing all the pretty pictures of what people have made and spends hours pouring through the swap galleries and envying all the projects.

Her three favorite projects on Craftster so far have been: the knit night of the living dead, the chicken chaple, and the embroidered pirate shadow box. Additionally she admires anything else that she would never have the patience to finish, which she says includes a lot.

Her favorite project they she herself has posted on Craftster? Her fishtail lace skirt (a.k.a. her knit ass!). You can also see her mad crafty skillz at her handmade iPod case shop http://www.technocutie.com.

When EmilyFlew is not crafting she works at an art gallery, rides her bike, hikes, reads, takes classes whenever possible and is a film geek. Causes that are near and dear to her are anti-death penalty activism, reproductive rights, and substance abuse education. She loves art museums and art education and thinks that everyone should support their local arts organizations! Apart from the above, EmilyFlew also likes russian poster art, bacon, and dinosaurs.

  jMi

jMi found Craftster one day by doing a Google search for sewing help. Something from the site popped up and she has been addicted since! She was immediately drawn to the overwhelming friendliness of the board, and how helpful everyone was. She wasn't looking for a Crafty community, but she soon found out it was something she needed!

There are so many wonderful projects on Craftster today, that she finds it near impossible to pick favorites! Some of her all-time favorites include (but are not limited to):
Street art inspired wall mosaic, mandala batik on hemp rayon...and its birth...., and qazicat's Polymer Clay Bullseye Cane mint tin. Her most recent favorite project of her own is a cute tote bag using Asian inspired fabric.

jMi has been into arts & crafts ever since she could hold a crayon. Her mother and sister are very crafty, and her uncle is a professional artist. She started out drawing and painting, and has expanded from there. As her craftiness grew, she began crafting with anything she could get her hands on--- paint, stickers, paper, boxes, glitter, beads... you name it, she's used it! She currently has a *slight* obsession with sewing!

jMi is a Fine Arts major, with a concentration in Graphic Design, and a minor in Education. She lives in Virginia Beach, VA making her living doing anything she can until school's out!

Some of her favorite charities are, http://www.purebredcatrescue.org/, http://www.cjsids.com/, and http://www.americanheart.org/. She currently donates money each year to the American Heart Association each year in memory of her father.

Her non-art addictions include kittens, collecting paper she will never have the heart to cut, purses (hand made and non-hand made), vintage shoes, thunderstorms, the color pink, fast cars, and most of all, her family.
  kategirl

kategirl enjoys all sorts of crafty stuff, including sewing, knitting, crocheting, beaded and wire jewelry, card making, and anything else she stumbles upon that peaks her interest. An example of kategirl's own handiwork is her messenger bag tutorial.

She found Craftster after seeing Leah post about its creation on another forum. She likes coming to Craftster to see how the communication of ideas progresses as people build off each other's projects and inspiration. She also likes how there's something for everyone, beginner or expert, whatever your craft may be.

kategirl has just completed her undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and is pursuing a masters degree in biomedical engineering. Along with crafting and hanging out with her boyfriend, she enjoys reading.

kategirl also gets mad props for being the 12th person to sign up for Craftster and for being the first global moderator on Craftster!
  krazigal72

krazigal72 joined as a Craftster member after reading about Craftster in BUST Magazine. She says she loves all the great ideas on Craftster and how everyone is so helpful. Her favorite projects so far are the Jordy bag, the Mario quilt and record bowls.

Her favorite project that she posted was her sparkly beaded ring. She has a particular affinity for jewelry-related crafts and traces her love of crafting all the way back to making friendship bracelets in 5th grade. She also loves painting and credits her great-grandmother for passing along the painting gene.

Crafting is a full-time hobby for krazigal72 but she's also a student majoring in Criminal Justice. When she's not learning how to bust gangstas, krazigal72 enjoys acting like a 5 year old (who doesn't?!), shopping, thrifting, movies and music.

Her favorite charities are Red Cross (give blood!) and National Organization for Women (NOW).

  PinkMafia

PinkMafia has been creative since birth, she was born with a glue gun in hand. Her favorite crafts are sewing, embroidery, hot glueing stuff to different objects, card making and she will try just about anything once.

When she's not crafting she can be found shimmying and shaking with her cabaret group, playing on the beach, bicycling, and hanging out with her craft partner for life- her daughter.

PinkMafia has too many favorite projects to list but her favorite sections to find inspiration are the clothing and swap boards. PinkMafia is a recovering swap addict who has a hard time saying no to knitted and crafted goods she can't make herself. She is currently on the 12 step swap program and has completed step 1- admitting she is a swap addict.

  rackycoo

Rackycoo was lucky enough to have a Mom who was constantly crafting, and a grandmother who was a fabulous artist. Both of those women were a huge inspiration to her; so much so that she majored in art in college, and worked for a while as a graphic artist before she “retired” to raise up the next generation of crafty women.

Rackycoo found Craftster after she noticed a huge spike in creativity in her two crafty daughters. She had to find out where they were getting all their new wild and creative ideas! She started looking at Craftster over their shoulders, and then got totally sucked in. Eventually, she caved and made an account of her own. Soon, the swapping began, and the rest is history. For some reason, it’s easier for rackycoo to get excited about crafting for a swap than for herself. She’s a little weird that way. Currently, her favorite crafts are reconned Altoid tins, and Artist Trading Cards. Soon, however, it looks like she is going to be moving into more book binding.

Her favorite piece that she’s posted on Craftster is “Nanny Beatrice Grace and the Heavenly Host”, a reconned thrift store painting that she did as a joint project with her older daughter. They had so much fun working together. Every time rackycoo sees that painting, it makes her smile. She knows that she would never have thought to do something like that without the influence of Craftster. And that’s what she likes best about the site.
  retroeva

Eva lives in Murfreesboro TN with her Husband and dog. She has a BS in Geology and is currently persuing her MS in Occupational Safety and Health. Eva's favorite crafts include cooking, quilting, sewing, crocheting, stenciling, gardening, and interior decorating in general. Her main crafty influence is her Grandma who taught her to craft when she was only knee high to a cricket and still teaches her new tricks when they visit.

When she is not crafting or lurking around on craftster, Eva loves to travel (she just got back from her first trip to Europe in March 07 and now plans on being an ex-pat) and is a voracious reader (highly addicted to romance novels, contempoary adult fiction, and science fiction/fantasy).
  SevsOnlyGirl

SevsOnlyGirl was crafty before she knew what crafty was. Her family didn't know what to think of her and so just let her be. In college she made a trip to the Goodwill with her roommate where she purchased a floor length dress and a plain denim jacket and then disappeared into her room. Hours later she reappeared to go clubbing in a mini dress and painted distressed jacket. When asked where she got them, she replied, "Today at Goodwill, silly, you were WITH me!"

Her favorite projects posted on Craftster have been: DIY Cloth Pads Tutorial,
this Dark Side of Wonderland Swap goodie, and Retro whirl away dress.

Her favorite project that she has posted on Craftster is her painted black hoodie.

After years of searching the internet for a good crafting site, one night she discovered Craftster and immediately joined. She loved it so much she asked to be a moderator!

When not on Craftster, SevsOnlyGirl serves as a Student Activities Coordinator at a college. Along with guiding students, she also guides a husband and two children (who are also crafty).
  sweets4ever

sweets4ever loves drawing, painting (particularly murals!), scrapbooking, weird and ironic crafts, interior decorating, photography, and other crazy miscellaneous things. You can see some of her own amazing work here in this thread showing a huge Celtic motif she painted on her ceiling.

Her favorite projects that other people have posted on Craftster are: anything by RickRackRuby (the necktie queen!) like this skirt, this bike tire chandelier, and the infamous green ribbon dress.

sweets4ever is also a marathon-er and completed her first full marathon in Oct 2004. When not crafting or running, she can be found playing Battlefield 1942 and spending time outdoors with her critters and her boyfriend.
  vanillaxlight

It was long, long ago in a horrible time deemed "Middle School" when a young, yet not entirely impressionable girl started on a quest for knowledge. The goal of this quest was to find the cure for the most horrible disease called "Boredom" that plagued the household of the novice. She remembered a remedy her mother had taught her in her earliest years: Craft. The girl had long since forgotten this thing, though the memory haunted her. On her quest, it would be this remedy that would save her life.

Deep into her expedition, after many attempts at slaying the fang-ed Record Bowl or the poisonous Martha Stewart "Craft", she heard many a wise man tell tale of a vague place where ideas roamed free and scissors ruled the land. This was the holy grail she sought and after much clicking she found the place called Craftster. Here she immersed herself and learned many skills to fend off the evil villains that lurked in the Halls in that wretched time of Middle School. She taught herself to sew and make purses and quilts and stuffed animals for the homeless or sick, she learned of carving wood and of making paper and binding books and, of utmost importance, the fine art known as Crochet.

These skills she took back with her and defeated the beasts, becoming most revered by many in her midst. Though she has knowledge, she is wise and knows that she cannot keep it within her. Thus, she teaches those that wish to learn and is happy to share with the world her knowledge.

Well after her quest was completed, she moved onto many other areas in pursuit of new remedies. She learned the gift of the word and of helping others and as this tale is told, she is attending university to further the gift. She raises money for sick children at a place known as St. Jude. It is her hope that she can affect the life of at least one being. She remains wise and hopeful and because of such has founded her own holy land where those with the bud of language will be able to go and share their secrets with the world. She calls this place roman-a-clef.net. In its infancy, it is modest. One day, though, she knows it will be the fount that Craftster was for her.
