Okay - I'm plus size, but I like to look sexy.  I'm going to Buffet in a few weeks and want to make a top that looks like I'm only wearing a bikini top without only wearing a bikini top.  Any thoughts?  Has anyone ever made anything like this?  Even if the whole top was nude and then I put a cocunut bra over it or something?  Come on crafters, I know you have the answers :-) Huh

First thing that springs to mind is that "nude" fabric ice skaters and gymnasts use to make their costumes look skimpy, while still providing security and coverage. You could make a top out of it, or similar nude colored knit, and applique a bikini top to it.

I ended up finding some material at Hancock for $2 a yard.  After cutting it too small twice and making alterations I think I have it down.  I had to add a v of fabric to make it big enough to go over my hips, where the v connects it looks like a belly button so I "pierced" it and added dangled beads from it.  The concert is the 8th, when I get the whole outfit together I will post a picture.  Thank you for your responses!

Sweet...I have tickets for August...I was going to recon a Carribean soul shirt into a tank top.  I love your idea, though!  I can't wait to see it!

Here's what I came up with.  You can't see the belly button I added, I ended up having to tuck that in.  Just wanted to share.

You can barely see the hipslinger I made to match.
