So I've been lurking a while here, but I finally got a digital camera and plan to post all my projects from the last little while.
I finished this around January of this year; after putting together the design it took me a couple weeks of an hour here and there after classes to complete. I've worn it a few times, and it sort of feels like it needs something else but I can't decide if I want to add a little something more to it- thoughts?
the pictures are quasi-crappy as my camera is lmited but I think you get the idea:

Wow! That's really awesome!  Grin

I myself would add a little "squishy" in a random position! LOL Great job, is the front plain?

I LOVE your shirt!  I am a hugie fan of all types of sea creatures and I love how you designed these jellies! I like how they aren't EXACTLY realistic but also aren't cartoon-y or anything. Did you do it by hand? Keep up the great work!!

thanks everyone!
Fortune_32 : yes the front is plain right now. maybe I will add a little "squisshy" though.
ffancypantss : I usually do things on the back, as it is a flatter surface. I feel like nothing gets in the way to distort the image, if you know what I mean.
capnhonolulu: I love sea creatures too! pretty much any design I come up with totally on my own involves one. (or robots!), and of course I did it by hand, wouldn't do it any other way!

as for selling it, I think I would have to go by special request only as it was a tad time consuming, but one day I do hope to sell things I make in some form or another.

thanks again!

it is really beautiful!
i dont think it needs anything.  the space is really well filled up (also love it on the back and on the corner.  i believe that more embroidery would mess up the balance you created).
what i think would look cool could be some silver sequin to look like bubbles.
and it would add a little glitz too!
you could start it from the bottom middle, make it smoothly move to the side of the big jellyfish tentacle thingies (i'm so scientific!), "tangle" some bubbles up on it, and make is smoothly move up to the collar limit.
even if you add less will already add a little bling..

that is sooo gorgeous.

I think maybe you should add a little jellyfish or something to the front. But what you've done already looks amazing, I wouldn't add to the back at all.

Love it!

I don't think it needs anything. I think it's perfect! I love the jellyfish, and I like that they're on the back, kind of like a nice surprise after the plain front. It's like, "You think it's just a regular t-shirt... but wait, there's more!"

It's so lovely as it is. I think that adding more risks cluttering the design, but that's just my feeling.

wow, thanks all!

I think I am sensing more and more to keep it the same, unless someonecomes along with some genius plan (the sequins were a very scientific idea indeed!)
thanks for all the suggestions.

poppysmum: thank you, I do use interfacing; just plain old tear-away (I think when I bought it this time it was called 'quilter's interfacing'). I buy it by the metre. Works marvellously on pretty much all stretchy fabrics I've used.

That is such an incredably beautiful shirt.  Great color choices and very realistic looking jellys.  A while ago I drew a design for a ctenaphore and some hydroid medusas (sorry for all the scientific terms they are just different kinds of jelly-like creatures) that I was going to embroider on a pillowcase but never made it.  It would never turn out as cool as that.  Amazing embroidery!

I love them! I agree that they look fab on the back and shoulder. The back is a better 'canvas'- no distortions!

I would buy a shirt like that for sure. What kinds of stiches did you use on the jellyfish?

wow...perhaps we need to have a jellyfish swap with all those jellyfish lovers out there!

onecraftybitch: I used satin stich on the large tentacles, chain stich pretty much everywhere else and maybe a little vine stich where it got dainty (not much though). Very easy, just time consuming -- especially filling in their 'heads' (do jellyfish have heads?).

Oh, those pictures reminded me of something you jelly-fish lovers might like. These friends of mine had their wedding reception in the aquarium! It was so beautiful! We ate our dinner as sharks swam past, eyeballing the steak. They cut the cake in front of a tubular floor-to-ceiling tank of phosphorescent (I think) jellyfish. I'll have to see if I have any good pictures of it. It was so, so amazing.

I love your jelly fish shirt!! I have a stuffed jelly fish hanging from my rearview mirror that I got at an aquarium we visited on our honeymoon. But I digress... The only thing I would add is maybe a little jellyfish on the front like where a pocket would be. But I don't really like to wear plain-front shirts, so that's just my opinion. And maybe some sequins or glitter or rhinestones because I LOVE sparkly things. I think it's pretty great as is, though too. Great job!

As for the wedding at the aquarium...was it at the aquarium on the Oregon coast? That one is beautiful and would be an amazing venue for a wedding/recpetion!

mirandalea, I know exactly what you mean about the plain front shirts! everytime I wear this one, it's like I forget that there's even anything on the back and it feels so boring.....so I think I just might add a little guy up front. I shall report back with another photo upon completion!

also, those jellyfish photos are absolutely beautiful! very well done.

No, it was in Albuquerque. Surprisingly, a pretty good aquarium.
