I bought this pattern on Etsy, and made this for my 8 year old son, who loves to read.  He was thrilled, since I don't often make stuff for him.  The pattern calls for bead eyes, but I didn't have any on hand, and was too impatient to go to the store, so poor gecko is blind.

My son loves it - I'll be making more!  I also made the snake for my 5 yo daughter, but haven't gotten a picture of it yet.
