i think i posted this on another thread, but i'm too lazy to search, so:

i stenciled it with an airbrush food colory thing my mom has at her bakery. it got a little smeared, but, eh. the "tots" are hull-less caramel corn.

that moog cake is sweet. (ha! bad pun! w00t!)

OMG, my husband will freak over this cake!! His birthday is coming up at the end of July and I wonder if I can pull this off without having to use a spray gun system to make the stencil? Any ideas??? I've taken cake decorating classes before, but these are flowery type cakes, nothing like making a novelty cake like this.... I need all the ideas you can offer! And what are hull less caramel corn? Like caramel pop corn?

it is caramel corn, without the bits that get stuck in your teeth. i found it at my local speedway gas station. they make a spray paint like can of food coloring stuff. it's usually in the cake decoratey section of the craft dept. i used freezer paper for the stencil, wax side down.

Man, both of these cakes are awsome.

Alton Brown had a show on recently about decorating cakes, as did America's Test Kitchen.

Chocolate Esspresso Devastation Cake

It's less impressive as far as decorations go compared with the others above in this thread, but it did win first place at my town's annual bake-off...  The recipe in on my blog, if anyone's interersted.  Smiley

Here is a Flip Flop cake I made a while ago....for a 4th of july party last year....it was fun. The thong part of the flip flop is fruit by the foot....and the side has skittles....

i can't figure out how to post a pic so here is the link:
