alright. so i missed the regular prom because i was out of town because my mom died a few days before. because my friends are AMAZING, we are having ktprom (my name's katie.. it's my prom.. ktprom). so we're decorating, and personally, I am on a VERY strict budget. i don't have ANY money. (well, i have $15 at the moment, and i just acquired $20, but other than that....) so i need some very cheap ideas for the backdrop for our prom pictures. (AND i need to pay for food. loooots of food.)

i have a few ideas, mainly i want it to be like a disaster of some sort, like a shipwreck or hurricane or something. we have a lot of christmas decorations but idk... we can get a plain white sheet very easily and my friend davy is suggesting to paint it randomly but i say no. i'm sure i can get ahold of some cardboard and some acrylic paint or something (there is a joannes right nearby). i generally just want it to be really cool and/or funny, like really cheesy or something.

anyways. any input would be helpful!

a shipwreck theme would be cool and i think you could do it cheaply and easily!  if you use your white sheet, you can get cardboard from stores, just ask a stocker or a mangaer.  they have huge boxes. then you only need three colors, black, blue and lots of white Smiley mix and paint! then youre just spending a tiny bit! the shipwreck, you can cut out pieces and have the hull of the ship coming out of the ground, then you only have to make half of a ship Smiley post pictures after your prom, they should be awesome!

yesss i may do that. i live directly across the street from the commisary and know many of the workers so i can probably get some cardboard easily, and if they don't just give it to me, i'm going dumpster diving. lol

but yes i will see how that works out and of course i will post pictures!

Ahhhh the commisary... I remember that well.

You're a crafter so you should have paint around somewhere. Paint a sheet in very abstract ways to make a sandy beach and a blue sky. As for food, ask your friends to Pot Luck it. Everyone make a dish and bring over. Something quick and easy! A la pigs in a blanket, mac-n-cheese, etc. If you're going for something more fancy than fun cheese and cracker plates with fresh fruit.

I was going to say, ask your friends to each bring something, and then have a buffet. Maybe give ideas though so not everyone brings chips and soda... foodnetwork.com is my favorite, and they have tons of recipies for people low on cash.

ask everyone who's coming to make a part of the party set, eg: if you were planning a beach theme, have some people make a palm tree and some people make something else.. *runs out of beach theme ideas*

just get everyone to bring something along!
