This is my first craftster post and I just had to put myself through a crash course in posting photos - if this works I'll be amazed - I really enjoyed getting the creative juices flowing and I always knew that junk cupboard of mine would come in handy one day !! I've made a pipe cleaner doll with Popsicle sticks inside for support and painted macaroni jewellery - I don't know if it is Kitschy but...oh well...

the first junk pile

a pipe cleaner body and cheesecloth head

card board and duct tape to fill her out a bit

ice block sticks inside for support and a bit of stuffing

some clothes made out of fabric scraps and yellow bias binding

a pencilled in face

another junk pile to finish off including some gold painted macaroni jewellery

posing for the Big Reveal ! (Cardboard and duct tape shoes)

Here's a close up of her face - the hair is spray painted filler and she has real earrings and make up (plus a bit of felt tip)

Phew ! thanks for you patience - it took a while to figure out the photo thing.

Debbies only get respect in the knitting world.  How unfair is that?

:)I like your doll and I am really glad I am not the only one who had minor difficulty with the pictures. I didn't think I would ever get mine on here.

Hey.... that's great! .... Did you go through old family photos for inspiration?  Wink ... and I don't think you have to worry about it not being kitsch ... I looked up on Wikipedia and this is their definition ... Kitsch is a German term roughly meaning "knock off" that has been used to categorize art that is considered an inferior copy of an existing style. The term is also used more loosely in referring to any art that is pretentious or in bad taste, and also commercially produced items that are considered trite or crass. ... she does look German ...

Thanks for that shazbot - and no I didn't go through photos just my cupboard'o'crap with which you are no doubt familiar - thanks for looking everyone - if I was to make another doll I would not use pipe cleaners because they are too flimsy but the basic concept is there - perhaps I will try another one ...hmmm
