So I have to come out to Phoenix tomorrow for work and I'll have one night (I get in at 6 PM) to spend doing my own thing before I hafta work. So, I am staying near the airport at the Wyndham Phoenix (Adams St.)...and I will have to take a cab wherever I go...

That being the case, what should I do? Eating suggestions? Crafty shopping/wandering around options?

There isn't any wandering to be done by the airport (scary!), but you could take a cab to either the Old Town Scottsdale or Mill Avenue Tempe areas for dining and wandering. Tempe is a big college area and is a bid dead this time of year during the week. Even though many stores will be closed, Scottsdale may be a better bet for the window shopping, there are a lot of galleries and shops in walking distance. If you go to Scottsdale and like Sushi, I like Stingray. They have a lychee flavored cocktail that is delicious!
