Shaving Cream Cards-- With Tutorial--MUST TRY!
«

Halmark makes "marbled" cards, which can be costly. They may look hard to recreate at home, but it's so easy... and you have everything you need to make one-RIGHT NOW!
To make this marbled card, you'll need:
. A shallow baking pan. Even a large plate could work.
. White shaving cream. It can't be gel. I was sad when I realized I couldn't use my pear Skintimate stuff... so I swiped my mom's aloe shaving cream.
. A spatula
. The cardstock or paper you want to make the card out of. Make sure it's white!
. Food colouring
. OPTIONAL: An extra piece of paper
. OPTIONAL: a rubber stamp and ink
Step by Step:
1. Spray shaving cream into pan. Spread it until it evenly covers the bottom. It does not have to be completely even or flat.
2. Add drops of food colouring and fluff it up until it looks like my picture:
3. Take your card paper and lay it flat onto the shaving cream. Push it into the cream until all of the paper is in contact with the cream.
4. Remove the paper from the cream and place it on the table to dry. Make sure you put the cream side up! Here's a picture of mine with the shaving cream still on it.
5. After about 7-10 minutes, take a paper towel and wipe off the shaving cream in one direction. Continue wiping until all the cream is gone. Here's mine after I wiped it:
Optional Steps:
6. Take an extra piece of paper, and stamp a design onto it.
7. Trim off excess paper and glue it onto card.
And you're done!
(For more pics, look through the rest of this thread. I add more cards and envelopes as I go along, so check back often for new ideas!)

That is truly THE coolest thing I've ever seen in my whole entire life. Okay, maybe not quite.... I LOVE playing with shaving cream! And now I have an excuse to do it! (I used to spread it all over a dry erase board and just go nuts rubbing it all over. Weird, I know.... this wasn't even that long ago)
Plus, I love the colors you used. I've been into the sun colors lately, just bought a bunch of beads like that. Hmm.... bead accents... gotta try.

Wow, that does look like fun. It reminds me of the marbelizing you do with the oil paints on top of water.. [god i hope people know what im talking about]. But this seems like it would give u a lot more control over the final design...
also, like Jule said, GREAT idea for kids.
Thanks for sharing the idea and a very thorough/well explained tutorial
peace

Well... the card smells a little bit, but it's not a bad smell. It smells a little like aloe, which you can't even notice unless you stick it right up to your nose. But who sniffs greeting cards, anyway?
Seriously, though, if you let it sit by an open window for an hour or so, it airs out pretty well.
