This is my kitschy DOD diorama depicting an emotional scene. I'm sure we  you all can relate...the guy/gal of your dreams walks by, maybe you catch eyes, smile, or worse. . .you just lose your head! SOoo, the title ESTO PERTENECE A USTED translates to THIS BELONG TO YOU? (or so the online translator says!)
  materials: . big colored popsicle sticks . pipe cleaners . pom poms . glitter  
  glue . sequins . faux flowers . wire . seed beads and a skull bead . pom pom
  trim . googly eyes . embroidery floss . false eye lashes . acrylic paint . hot glue .

so i made a box from the sticks and 'raised' the roof with wire that i put beads on and hot glued it in place. i put pom pom trim around the perimeter of the roof. i painted the text on another stick and hot glued that on. the skeletons are made from pipe cleaners. the white has a pompom i shaped into a heart in his chest and the pink has a 'gem' heart in her throat. they have googly eyes and the noses and mouths are from separated threads of emb. floss. theres a little cupid-like flying skull hovering in the background.


this little guy is supposed to resemble a winged sugar skull. the wings i shaped with the pipe cleaners, then kinda stuffed and glued poms poms in them. i outlined the shapes with glitter glue and then hot glued it to the pom pom skull decorated with glitter glue and pom pom teeth/eyes.

Oh that's really cute. I like the mixture of *love* and this creepy scene. It reminds me of like A Nightmare before Christmas and Corpse Bride.

The winged 'sugar' skull on top is probably my favorite part (though I love the whole thing!) The glitter designs are lovely.

YAY! thanks so much...yr all too kind! this is my first craft challenge and i was clueless as to where to begin. i had an idea of a direction i wanted to go (Day of the Dead diorama) but no idea what to portray. THEN while making the pink skeleton, i could not get her head to stay on! . . .so rather than getting more and more frustrated, i decided to go with it.
                      moral of the story: work smarter, not harder!
