Shrines have started to really take off here on Craftster and I think a lot of them are getting lost between the More Art/Less Craft board and the Miscellaneous Completed Projects board.

What do you think of a Shrine board...Not sure which heading it would go under, mabye the Trinkets or Home Sweet Home.

Do I have any supporters?

I'm a newbie and I am more infatuated right now with the concept of shrines than I was infatuated with Q from TNG when I was 13.  For those of you who are not me, that's *a LOT* Wink  A board focusing on them and featuring tutorials/material recommendations/showcasing of these fabulous little bits of visual psychodrama would be like "Generic Cold-Weather Seasonal Holidaytm" in September for me!!

Do a search for "shrine"...you have to sift thru a lot of jabber (of which I tend to be a large instigator of) but there is some really, really excellent stuff on here.

On a daily basis I'm stunned by the creativity I see and I'm always inspired by other's work.

(I never really watched TNG, but I saw enough to think Q was kinda hot in a total geek way)

Does anyone know?

Should I start a petition or something?  Grin

It takes a lot of discussion (and I mean a LOT. You should see the amount of discussion there was on the polymer clay board before they got one) before a board is created. Really, there needs to be a lot of attention focused on it. Though I'm sure shrines are a big thing, it seems they would fit under another category (like the home board). It's too focused to require its own board, unfortunately. Most of the other boards cover a very broad category. It'd be a good idea to figure out how many different topics there are out there in craftster land that focus on shrines to give your cause a boost Cheesy

If a board isn't made, it would be a good idea to figure out where exactly they should go...  It's hard though. Shrines in a house, obviously, could go under the home board... Altoid size shrines.. trinkets? It's all so vague.

Most of the time they are posted on the Misc board, for lack of a better place.

There is a huge craft along thread happening right now...its up to about 35 pages, I think. And I think its
because its really the only place that is remotely dedicated to talking about them...

I'll have to see if I can drum up some business.

Which is why they need their own child board. Maybe in "More art than craft" ?

I also think there should be a board of some kind dedicated solely to shrines. There's definitely enough people on craftster who make shrines, or even are interested in them, to warrent its own board.

I think even just a child board would be appropriate, either under misc. completed projects or more art less craft. Then at least everything would be all together for easy reference...

I honestly don't have a preference as to where it would go. I just think it would be nice to have an easy place to post questions & ideas, really.

The shrine-a-long thread is a really good example of it. It would be so much easier to have an organized spot to look for tips & techniques instead of having to weed thru the almost 40 posts in that thread. There is a lot of good information there that I think is being lost.

I think a child board would be perfectly acceptable...actually, it would rock completely and would be perfect, in my opinion.

yeah!! shrine board please!

could i post fairy doors there too? my friend and i are going to start making them and randomly affixing them to buildings downtown, i can't WAIT!!! shrines would be fun to stick here and there in unexpected places in town too. ha ha, i love public art! maybe it could be a small vignette thread, shadowboxes and 'world in a box' pieces as well? seems to all be along the same lines to me....

Of course you could! There just seems to be a void to put stuff like this. It usually gets shuffled off to the Misc board and buried quickly. I would love to see all of the above and I think it all fits together nicely.

Leah knows about this thread. Unfortunately, right now, there isn't a huge interest with the members.  It takes a lot of time and $$$ to create new child boards and sub boards, so unless the demand is huge, it probably won't happen.  Thats not to say its a no, just please be patient and understand the dilemma.

What if the ATC people and the Shrine people combined and were in the More Art Less Craft section?  That way it would just be the combo of the two.  I think they're so inspiritational to each other.  I hope this isn't stepping on any toes!

What about an "altered" arts kind of board?  I think shrines and ATCs would fall under that category.

I was just wondering why there isn't a board for shrines. I keep finding shrines posted all over the place and was unsure where to post mine (I put it in misc.).

Even if there isn't a new board created for shrines, it would be nice to sort of have a recommended board for them.

I seem to be running into this a lot where I'm torn between two boards for my posts (like collage & papier mache - paper craft or more art less craft?).

In general they seem to end up on the Misc. board...there is a 2008 Shrine-a-long thread that I tend to put mine in, though.

Just popping in to lend my support for a shrines board - it's something I want to get into, and it would be really awesome to see them all in one place without sifting through other projects.
