Ok, so this is my first challenge and I think it's pretty cool, but I made it, so what else am I going to think? Here she is in all her completed glory:

So, the items from the list that I used in creating this, um, thing are as follows:
-- pipe cleaners (both regular AND sparkly)
 -- popsicle sticks
 -- dried pasta
along with additional crafty goods like tissue paper, glitter, sequins, decoupage, glue gun, etc. Here's a picture of some (but not all) of those items:

I should have taken some making of pictures, but I, um, didn't.

Ok, so here's the deets on what Our Lady is made of -- The Virgin is comprised mostly of pipe cleaners (she has a  popsicle stick bod, though), as is the crescent moon upon which she stands and the angel underneath. Her hair is embroidery thread and her dress and mantle are made out of tissue paper drenched in decoupage glue and then accented with sparkly pipe cleaners and glitter. Her shrine is made out of popsicle sticks:

I decoupaged the inside with tissue paper and then painted the background. The yellow parts are actually covered in glow-in-the-dark paint, so in real life it looks super-holy at night, but it didn't show up that well in a photo. Oh well. The roses that go around the opening are dried campanelle pasta, sparkly pipe cleaners and these little sequin leaf thingys I had lying around. So there you go, um,  I think that's about it. Here's some detail pics:

There are a lot of Mexican people where I live, and I've seen home-made Guadalupes in a variety of media... my favorite was the one done with what I think were Sharpie pens on an old CD and hung off a rear view mirror... so I say it's not blasphemy, it's definitely awesomeness!  Wink
