That is wicked- I've been working on an altered book for school, and I got a little enthusiastic in my old-rejected-book hunting- this just might be their destiny!
Thank you for giving my sad and lonely books a future!

This is fantastic! I wonder how hard it would be to make a freestanding set.....

Actually, it's not too hard! especially if you use a piece of plywood board across the back of the freestanding shelves to stabilize them... our Friends of the Library sale often has old encyclopedias for dirt cheap, which would be perfect for this project as a stand-alone shelf.

I agree with the whole idea of "defacing" a book. . . but this is so awesome! There are some books that are no longer... "useful" for reading, and this is a fantastic reuse of them!

Did you use the cutout papers for other crafts or altered arts?

Absolutely! My current (Always finding new ways) favorite way to use the insides of these books is for book flowers http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=345173.msg4016345#msg4016345.

They are WAY too fun to make and wear.

Homg! *o* I must make this! I had planned to make shelves out of books sitting on some L brackets but this is so much better! I'm glad I saw this before I did it the other way. Thanks so much for sharing the tutorial! <333
