Kitschy Beads an' Baubles Clock
I just couldn't resist this challenge! ..After locating several bags of stash I was surprised to find I already had pom poms, gimp and chenille stems ... not to mention countless other items that might come in useful one day, one of which was a clock mechanism, I'd bought it ages ago with the intention of making a clock from an old vinyl..... Decision made, my challenge 12 entry was 'probably!' going to be a clock!
Playing around with the pom poms and thinking of the round vinyl gave me the idea of a Howard Miller style clock ...and it went on from there....
Here's a pic of the ingredients I used!
Gimp, pom poms, chenille stems, wire coat hangers, a clock mechanism, and a brass washer
I drilled 12 holes into the washer for the sections of wire coat hanger to go into so that each would represent an hour on the clock
I found the wire wouldn't stay in the washer so I soldered it into the holes:
I ditched the vinyl and instead decided to weave the gimp around the spokes like this:
The hands on the clock were too small for the design so I used the chenille stems to extend the existing hands, glueing them on using a glue gun,
I trimmed the wire spokes to different lengths and glued on the pom-poms!
This is my first real attempt at Kitsch and it's growing on me in a weird sort of way!!
