I loved it, but it definatley doesn't work good in black...

Do you mean the stitch definition doesn't show up? I have 2 extra balls of black microspun I was planning on using for this..?!?!?

I also did it in black microspun.  the stitch definition isn't as good as the lighter colors, but that doesn't bother me.  frankly, what does bother me is that since it's an acrylic yarn, it's kinda hot, even though it's a lighter weight yarn.

That's too bad, I really want it to be light weight. Does anyone know of still cheap alternatives that aren't as hot?

haha, we could go on arguing about microspun. I don't think it's hot, but maybe that's me.

I guess anything that was a sports weight would work well.

yeah, I'll definitely say that I get hot very easily and I live in the muggy, sweaty swamp that is Washington DC, so take my comment about microspun with a grain of salt...

I'm near Chicago, so it probably wouldn't be a too big a deal (until the ungodly heat and humidity that has ben the last 2 summers here!)

Lol my home is also in the DC area, but since I'm here at Vassar for the summer, I can tell you that the only thing worse than DC humidity is the DC level humidity in the Hudson Valley combined with no airconditioning. Moving makes me sweat.

Is it absolutely necessary to knit with circular needles?  Or will it work with straight ones?

So I ended up going with the microspun anyways. It was the best choice at Michael's. Unfortunately, when I went to buy the yarn today, I discovered the LYS up here at school went out of business  Sad So I'll see how it goes.

the microspun will be great.  and, scheherazade, yeah, you need circulars the way the pattern is written -- it's done in the round, not flat.  (i.e. no seaming)
