Just wondering if anyone's from around there. I would really like to move there this fall or early winter & it'd be neat to know if others were around.

Davis Square is awesome if for no other reason than Magpie is there (see the ad on this site).

Plus there is a an awesome vet if you have pets. Good food, music and movies too.

I live in brighton but Davis is rockin'.

My BF works at Jimmy Tingle's OFF BROADWAY Theater, a comedy club.  I also have a friend from college that works at Wisdom Publications, a Buddhist publishing company that is located there too.  Davis is a really a nice place.  Lots of neat restaurants, cute stores (Magpie, a nice comic book store, used books, Somerville Movie theater, etc), and it's on the T.

I think I know where you mean. Magpie is so so so cute. I just spent three days there and fell in love with it. I'd never really hung around that area but it was such a  blast, a lot like the place I grew up. I can't wait to get over there!

If you like comics, collectables, graphic novels and such, the comic book store, Comicazi, is the best.  They let me read books and knit there  Cheesy

I work in Davis Sqaure and love the area.  There are great independently owned coffee houses, tons of good irish bars, and yummy restaurants. (Plus a J.P. Licks ice cream shop!!)

Theres also Comicopia outside of Kenmore.  Thats my favorite comic store!

I live in Waltham, but my life revolves around the boston area.

If you all are in Harvard Square thursday nights watch me play kickball at the Harvard Square common!   Grin

I used to live in Waltham (I went to Brandeis for college).  I love the Outer Limits comic book store there.  I still maintain my pull list there because I can't bring myself to change.

But I still must echo everyone's comments on Davis.  It's a great place.

I live in East Somerville (the ghetto part, not the trendy hip Davis area Smiley ) Somerville is great! Diesel in Davis Sq. is the best coffee place and Spark Crafts is awesome. Oh, and there's a sewing machine store there too. Lots of fun goodness in Davis Sq!

Med-fizzle represent!
I live right near Tufts so the bus to Davis is a stone's throw from my house.  I love that thrifty store, poor little rich girl, it's rather expensive mostly but if you hit it on a good day you can get some really nifty clothes.  I also dig Diva, that awesome Indian restaurant.  Oooh yes.

Is the Someday closing??  Sad!
I've never been able to figure out exactly where True Grounds is.

The Someday's last day is August 12.  Sad  True Grounds is in Ball Square, on Broadway just a bit down from Tufts.

I live in Cambridge, but I play kickball in Union Square in Somerville.  It would be fun to have a crafty get together.  I'm totally in.  I've actually wanted to start a crafting circle for some time now.

There was a big article in the Somerville Journal about this. Apparently, the owner didn't renew the lease, so the building was leased to someone else (Mr. Crepe, I think). The alderman for that area, I think Rebecca Gewirtz, is trying to work out something so that the Someday can stay open, but under different management since the current owner doesn't really take care of stuff (such as renewing the lease!) There was speculation about a couple of the current Someday employees possibly running it.

I've always thought the Someday was kind of skanky - crappy coffee and the furniture appears to be left over from trash day - but it IS an institution, and I am a big fan of independently owned coffee shops. And you know that if it closes, everyone will boycott Mr. Crepe, so what is the point of them even moving into that space? Smiley
