Learn some Finnish: neulominen stands for knitting

It started off from the pure need to knit something, anything. It was supposed to become a scarf, could very well serve as a hat and ended up becoming a pencil case. A very simple construct but I like the stitch pattern that I came up with. Here it comes:

Pencil case stitch pattern:
Cast on 43 stitches
Row 1: knit 1, * purl 1, knit 3* , repeat *_* 9 more times, purl 1, knit 1
Row 2: *knit 3, purl 1* , repeat *_* 9 more times, knit 3
Rows 3, 5 and 7: same as row 1
Rows 4, 6 and 8: same as row 2
Rows 9 and 10: knit across all stiches

Repeat rows 1-10 until the desired length is reached

Pencil case details:

Pattern: My own
Yarn: Novita Florica (a Finnish yarn) orange, knit doubled, about 40g
Needles: 3,5mm rosewooden dpn's
Other material: Fabric for lining, sewing thread and a 20cm zipper
