I was browsing in AC Moore and stumbled across their clearance section - where I found these "bracelet bands": bendable metal strips - packed three or four to the set, they were only 50 cents!!
So I stocked up, came home and decided to make a beaded cuff. First I took my window screening (soft, black and meshy) and cut a strip that would fit the width of the bracelet. I think cut a piece of lavender felt that would be wide enough to wrap the entire cuff and left enough to enclose the ends.
I then handstitched the mesh to the felt and then sewed glass seed beads of various colors to the felt (on top of the mesh). I pinned the felt together on the back and then handstitched it closed and handstitched the ends. I added small, vintage shell buttons to the ends of the cuff to give it a finished look.
Here's the end result:

I'm going to try it with different colored felt, and might cut some of the metal strips into a length suitable for necklaces.
The cuff straightens out fully after it is bent which I also like - you could wear it low or higher on the arm depending on your mood.
