OMFG! I've been trying to come up with a shrine idea that's really different - and I found this site! these are exactly the kind of things I'm going for; now I just have to find the base and the images for it!

That night, cast its light
On my heart's true delight
And the reef where her body was strewn

Wow! Thanks for sharing. I will have to go back and look several times. I loved the matchbox shrines.

i'm always so tempted to join this craft-a-long, so i've been following the thread for a while now.  i thought you all should know that michaels is clearencing out their little shrine boxes (aka dollhouse wardrobes) for 50 cents.   i bought a few just in case the shrine bug ever bites me (which it likely will!)

thought you might want to know!

You never know with Micheals. They haven't moved them to a discount bin, so they may just have them on sale, but if I were you and concerned, I would consider stocking up! It will be a sad, sad day if they discontinue them.  Sad

I know I have 5 or 6 of them tucked away in various bins that I don't know the exact locations of....but I'll have to check it out anyway.

On the other hand, it would force me to try my hand at other bases, which isn't a bad thing, really.

I have all the pieces to make the Carol Owens style boxes, but haven't gotten up the guts to try it yet. I have problems cutting in a straight line...I think that could cause a problem with trying to make things square.

I finished one shrine!  I made it Frida-themed and tried not to go too colorful on this one.  The front panel opens to the front, so I took pics of different angles of the outside and the inside to have a better idea of how it looks all together...

I am working on another little shrine, a very different one. I will post the pic as soon as I am done  Smiley

I love the shape of your base! Where did you find it?
It almost looks like Frida is a pop up when you open it. Very neat effect!

I love the crackle green on the outside!
