I'm working on a super girly piece right now. Pink & gold with a little girl with butterfly wings. I'm using the base that I posted way back in this thread...the ivory & gold house shaped box with the tiny drawers.

I've been steering clear of the "kids with wings" things that so many people have been doing (because so many people have done it), but she just demanded to be put in this little house. She came from a collage sheet I've had around for ages.

We'll see how it turns out. I'm not sure how soon it will be done, but when it is, I'll post it.

hey everyone...

I've been lurking through these pages for a few days and figured I'd try my hand at a shrine.

I'm moving to El Paso from Guelph(Ontario) and leaving my other half behind for a year  Shocked (I think I'm crazy)

So...I am making him a little shrine to me, and one for me of him. I'm just getting his done so far...and I'll post pics as soon as I can.

Anyone have any tips for using a tin as a base?

Cheers,

M
[Edit: not altoid tins, but like a cookie tin? Quite big compared to the altoid, but smaller than a sheet of printer paper.'

I'm just having trouble getting things to stick!]

If you mean altoid/mint tins, do a search for the altoid tin swaps, there have been several, and check out the galleries.

I'm building a shrine to my GG(great grandma) and I only hope it turns out half as awesome as everyone elses.

The "Mexican Heritage" shrine is great, petuniahead!  It's joyous, colorful, and humorous in a very fond way (if that makes any sense at all Wink).

Might I enlist the assistance of you lovely people?  I got randomly inspired (by a couple of peacock feathers that have been sitting around for a year) to make a very primitive art doll...figured it would make an interesting centrepiece for a shrine...

But it has gone off in its own direction.  It's not talking to me anymore Tongue

What do you get from this?

Peacocks?  Tribal?  Mardi Gras?  ...hopelessness? Cheesy

Directions?  Vibes?  Opinions?

It's not what was in my head, but I still like it.  Gonna pick up some more trinkets for its "hair" while I'm out shopping later...maybe some copper wire...

I think I've got the fringey/hair bits done.  Keeping in mind all the wonderful input I've received (earthy/nature/tribal/shaman/Venice Carnival/Mardi Gras/peacock Cheesy), I added earth-toned glass beads from India, tiny metallic peacock-colored beads, some peacock-colored Dichroic glass beads, little copper tribal-looking tube beads, and gold-toned metal leaf beads.

It's very very heavy now.  And impossible to photograph.

Now I need to add to the body (copper wire! peacock feathers!), then I can move on to the shrine base...
