Swap name: The Great Craftster Scavenger Hunt Swap
Craftster members who are organizing this swap: TheBon, kaesea
Sign-up date range: Sunday May 28-Sunday June 11 12 noon PDT OR until we get 26 participants.
We will post partners 48 hours after signups end.Date to send items by: Monday July 17
Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): 26
Non-U.S. participants allowed? yes
All ages allowed? Or 18+? All ages
Organizers are aware of current list of "suspended traders" list and will not allow those members to participate: YES
Organizers meet the
4 conditions for swapping and will make sure that
every participant meets these conditions: YES
Details of swap: Everyone loves a scavenger hunt! Each participant will suggest 3-4 items for the scavenger hunt list.
For example, you would write:
- something with your partner's first initial
- something striped
- something round and green
When you get your partner assigned to you, you will also get a huge Scavenger Hunt list, comprised of everyone's contributions. You will recognize 3-4 items on the list, because you contributed them! (See the example list above).
Now, you will get to crafting. You will use as many items from the list as possible in your crafts. For example, you might buy a wooden letter that is your partner's initial, decoupage photos of tennis balls on it, and glue chenille bumble bees to it (assuming your partner likes tennis and bees... it would be nice if they liked the stuff... that's kind of the challenge of all swaps, right?)
A single item may count for more than one item on the scavenger hunt list. If on the list there is 1. something yellow and 2. something hot and 3. a heavenly body and you craft tshirt that has a yellow sun on it, you've covered all three of those within one object. Make sense? You will craft at least 2 medium or 3-4 small items using as many items from the list as possible. If 10 people sign up for this swap, there will be 30-40 items on the list, so that's quite a few.
You should use at least 10 items on the list. The example above only used 3. You can always make more crafts if you need/want to... I've never heard anyone complain about getting "too many" items in a package.

After all of the items have been received and posted, we'll determine winners of the prizes! There will be two ways to win:
One for the most items in the total package of goodies
AND
One for the most list items in a single item.
In order to be eligible for the prize, you must a. post a list of which items from the list you used and b. back that up with photos. If you can't take photos yourself, make sure that your partner can, because that's the only proof we have that you used the items from the list! Here’s some info on the prizes!
I (kaesea) am a longtime subscriber to
The Sampler and, as a result, I have a lot of samples that I am not making the best use of. For a prize, I would put together a bunch of these samples and send them off to the winner.
Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with The Sampler(TM). However, I have gotten permission from the wonderful and talented Marie to use the Sampler name here and to redistribute samples that I have acquired from the Sampler. We will also be accepting small crafted items to contribute to the prize, if you would like. Just answer yes to that question and we will contact you.
If you want to participate, here is the information to send to one of the organizers:
