Here is a book I tried to make this afternoon. I thought I would capture it all on the digital camera, in case it worked and others may like it. So, here it is!

I started with 1 mini playing card (1 1/2" x 2 1/4"):

Fold the card in half, so that it is 1 1/8":

Find something for the cover, something that you like...I picked a notepaper from Michael's:

Glue to card to the center, leaving room around the edges. Also trim the paper so that it will overlap the card:

Glue the edges onto the card, fold over the pointy edges and glue them too:

Fold the card again:

Choose another paper, and cover the inside of the card, leaving an edge around the card:

Next, cut a few pages for the interior - I cut 3 pieces (2" x 1 1/4"):

Now stitch the pages inside - I used invisable thread, really strong and clear:

Next cover with wire-edged ribbon, gluing on the inside only (so you don't have glue on the outside of the cover):

Then, add satin ribbon to cover the edges of the wired ribbon (glue on the inside, and one dot on the outside), like this:

Finally, you are done with the basic construction, and have an adorable little mini book like this:

Mess around with the papers and ribbon (or whatever you want!). I'd love to see if anyone else makes these Cheesy These can also be done with any sized card, I just wanted a reason to use the mini cards Wink

Oh, Tara1979!!  That is such an awesome craft and tutorial!  I'm really going to have to give this a try.  And a "This Rocks".  And add it to my Wists (which I use for keeping track of ultra-cool crafts!)  Thanks for taking the trouble to document your craft.

Ah, thank you Fidget! I am so glad that this is of interest to people Cheesy I figured I should document it, since I tend to be lazy with things like this (make one then move onto another craft, lol). But this was so easy and fun to make, I am making more, and hopefully adding keychain pieces Wink

I really like them!  What would you use them for?  Just for fun?   Smiley

What did you use for the covers of the middle two?  I like the prints a lot.

Thank you all Cheesy You are all such great ego-boosters Wink

I am actually going to give them away as part of gifts, make some into keychains, and others are just for fun (they are small - great for keychains, but if you used a regular or over-sized playing card [or even cardstock, etc], then you could use them for all sorts of things).

For the lining of the two in the middle I used a watercolor-textured type printer paper (looks like watercolor, but is meant for computer use). I bought it 2 years ago, at Staples on clearence for $2.50 (regular $15).

Thanks again everyone!!

Ah! Wonderful idea Cheesy I may try that later. Yesterday I bought giant playing cards (the oversized plastic ones). I am going to give them a go, to make larger books to take with me out (for taking notes, grocery lists, etc). I would love to know how long they will last Wink

Again, if anyone makes these, I'd love to see them Cheesy

I love all of your books! I would love to try making one of these (I have TONS of abandoned old cards) but I really have to make sure I'd have a good use for it first. I'm a total book/journal addict; I've got way too many, all of which are half-used.

Hi! I saw this tutorial on the Paper Crafts Tutorial List by SevsOnlyGirl and I was so inspired. I just found three decks of poker cards with a few cards missing in my drawer and had no idea what to do with it, so what luck I must have for finding this! Your book is adorable!

Anyways, here's what I ended up with. (I took waaaaay too much pictures...hehehe)

This is the front of the cover with a little elephant on it...

From the side

Pages...

A close up of the pages.

The book contains all 26 alphabet letters in circus font, dipped in tea to give it an aged look. I didn't take a picture of it, but I also glued on a dedication on the front flap to my two heroes: John Merrick and Johnny Eck ("for my two Johnnys: Merrick, Eck")

Thanks again for the inspiration!!

This is really adorable and also inspiring. I was looking for a quick project to take my mind off the larger one COVERING my kitchen table as we speak. I wonder if this will be it? I spent three hours last night cutting stuff out of old calendars so...
