Butterflies, Buttons, & Crochet--ah, life is good!

I loved this purse idea from the book. Not only is it different, but you can make it as unique as you are. Since I'm rather fond of butterflies, I made mine with that theme, using some butterfly shaped beads, as well as a large butterfly on the lid. I couldn't find any decorative nails I liked, so instead, I attached two flower buttons using the elastic cord. First, I had to bat my eyelashes at my husband to drill a couple of tiny holes in it for me. The ending result is a cute little butterfly purse. I can't wait to make another one and see what theme I use the next time!

So pretty! I love it! You're right that one of the neat things about this project is that you can decorate it any style you want. You can even stain or paint the popsicle sticks with anything meant for wood. So fun!

Hmmm, I bet you could make a great shrine for your beaded butterfly doll from popsicle sticks too.

Hmm, now that's an intersting idea. I haven't started my doll yet, but I'm working on it in my head. Hoping to get it started today.

That purse is super-cool!
You got the popsicle sticks lined up and all neat -i'm sure if I made one there'd be wood sticking out here there and everywhere...
If it lined on the inside?

LOL...I'm sure if you made one, your sticks would be lined up perfectly. Although, mine aren't...heh.

It's not lined, although I'd thought about it. Maybe the next one.

I think it'll hold quite a bit of goodies. As for a tutorial, the pattern is found in the book The Craftster Guide to Nifty, Thrifty, & Kitschy Crafts. Maybe your local library has a copy if you don't want to purchase it.

It looks so great. I'm making one now. I'm calling it my practice one because I messed up on a row and didn't notice it til many rows later.  It's not quite as easy as it looks. you did so good.  Smiley

Well, I think that it looks really cool, but maybe the fact of the dirt make me think in other material. If we involve the popsicleStick into any material that can be used as protection would be better for the purse's life, dont ya think?

You want a plain one (as in: have someone make the purse) then you decorate it?
