It is a little plain.  I think even adding a solid color background would help, or make the background black and the text white.

I like the simplicity of it, but it needs a little "punch" and I think color will help.

I think it needs a little color, maybe a stripe of color around the edges, or you could add color to the background.  But otherwise, it is very nice.

Actually, there is reason behind the black and white. I am hoping to develop something of a logo and while black and white is fairly boring it is cheap to print. Would white on black be more dramatic?

I agree that I would need to see the products before commenting on the appropriateness of the logo itself, but IMO you don't need ANY changes to the banner. Simple really is best, and it looks really good as is with the etsy background.
