My name is Marie-Lilian. I get Mary, Maria, Mario, Marian, Lilly, Lillie, Liley, Lillian. I usually just go by Marie (Muh-ree) but my parents call me by my full name, and take it as a personal insult when other people don't.
Marie comes from French and means bitterness/rebellion/of the sea (parents didn't know meaning when they named me!!!) and Lilian was my grandmothers name. (Her mother had a holiday romance with a french man of the same name!)
My sister ended up with the wonderfully normal, common, easily pronouunced Emma Jane.
Never met a Butthead, but I do know a Shithead (Shuh-thee-d). Even teachers and lecturers say the "other" way.
I also know a Richard Head, a Teresa Greene, and my uncle is a David Davis.

I just read through all the other posts and had to contribute...

My name is Cassandra, which isn't all that unique, more unusual I guess.  It is greek for "phophetess of doom".  I really love my full name - Cassandra Elise, but I go more often by Cassie.
Yeah, can't find that anywhere.  A lot of Casey...no Cassie.

Well the real fun comes in when you figure in the last name, and apparently my parents didn't figure this out until too late...my last name is Bass.

Which of course meant lots of fish jokes and ass jokes, since of course, rhyming never goes out of style.

The best part?  My first initial and last name make CBass...seabass...yeah.  Actually, I rather like it, and a lot of my friends call me CBass.

Sorry for the life story of my name!  This thread is just too interesting, and if I would have caught it sooner I would have loved to participate!

I soo want to be free for this swap.  My mum (the weirdo) named me Chandra Morella, which I love.  It fits me really well - Chandra is Sanskrit for 'Moon', both the deity that rules it and the actual celestial object, and Morella is an Edgar Allen Poe story.  Both names are nearly impossible to find (especially when I was a kid), and I've heard so many mangled versions of Chandra I could fill my own telephone book (if I ever hear Chandy again I'm gonna hurt somebody).

Wonder if I get can get my life organized and acquire some expendable cash in 2-3 weeks  Undecided

...and Wolf Shadow is definitely an awesome name, teapotdnky

Alright if my lil sis (yes in real life) gets to complain about Chandra Morella

I 'll throw mine out there

Cheyenne Lashae  I sound like a stripper and yes someone did ask my dad about that when I was very little

Ha!  My son's name is Marley.  Fortunately, he likes his name.
