I was reading the other articles and one gave me a great idea for a gift for my husband, father and father in law for dad's day.

Anyhow, my husband has like 3 or 4 sets of keys, change, his ring, wallet and whatever else just sitting on the dresser at the end of each day. So.......

I am going to get one of those cigar boxes from the craft store, decoupage (sp?) it with pics of our daughters. Then line it with a piece of velour, maybe make a + divider inside for little areas. I might change the clasp if it looks ugly. Also, I think I will put something on the inside of the lid, like worlds best daddy or something. Now he will have a cool place to put his carp at the end of the day, and my dresser still looks tidy.

I will repeat the same thing for my father and his dad, but use pics of us when we were little to now.

I've never done decoupage before, but have seen many shows on it and it doesn't look too hard. So wish me luck and any suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated. Grin

Okay, so I thought of another option with this, someone please tell me what you think.

My dad is into rock climbing and his dad is into Harley's. So instead of pics of us, I was thinking of pics of rock climbing and Harley's. What do you think would be a better way to go?

Great idea and simple!  I think the rock climbing and harley's would be a nice touch.

I found this key and change holder craft idea which would be very easy for little kids to make. They are using a small foil pot pie pan and decoupage it. Very cute.

Here's pics of the "rocking climbing" one I finished for my Dad.

For the rocking climbing pics, I found a bunch on the net and printed them up. I painted the inside with gold paint, then added a pic of my hiking to the inside of the lid. I put a sweatshirt type material on the bottom of the inside to make it soft for jewerly, keys, etc. On the bottom, I decoupaged a piece of brown cardstock. It turned out looking like dark wood on the bottom. I really like the way it all turned out and had fun with my first decoupage project.

I am making one with a flame bandanna print I found at Hobby Lobby, for my father-in-law. I just need to get some black paint for the box first. They only had 2 boxes left at the store, so for my husband I am making a clock for his building. I am going to put pics of the girls on it, and am using a wooden plaque.
